What I Watch

I watch a lot of TV. So much that I find it hard to read some TV weblogs or columns because I can tell when someone hasn’t seen every episode of the show they’re talking about; it bugs me when people get things wrong and it really bothers me if people don’t disclose when they’re writing about a show that they don’t watch regularly.

Current Shows I Watch Regularly

I’ll also add an asterisk to the shows where I’ve never missed an episode.

Current Shows I Sometimes Watch

These are shows I like enough to watch, but not enough to try to see all of them– often because there are other shows I like better on opposite them or simply because there are only so many hours in a week. Or sometimes a show where you have to see episodes in order wins out over shows where it doesn’t matter and/or shows will be rerun a lot.

30 Rock (NBC)
Austin City Limits (PBS)
Brothers & Sisters (ABC)
The Colbert Report (Comedy Central)
The Daily Show (Comedy Central)
Dirt (FX) (fell way behind)
Duck Dodgers (Cartoon Network)
The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated)
Everybody Hates Chris (CW)
Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends (Cartoon Network)
Friday Night Lights (NBC) (fell behind on these, hope to catch up soon)
Good Eats (Food Network)
History Detectives (PBS)
Hustle (various)
Justice League / Justice League Unlimited (Cartoon Network)
King of the Hill (FOX)
Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC)
Late Show with David Letterman (CBS)
Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS)
Martha Stewart Show (syndicated)
MI-5 / Spooks
Monk (USA)
My Name Is Earl (NBC)
MythBusters (Discovery)
Nip/Tuck (FX)
Oprah (syndicated)
Prison Break (FOX)
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Bravo)
Reno 911! (Comedy Central)
The Venture Brothers (Cartoon Network)

Other Shows

Each season I usually watch at least 2-4 episodes of all of the scripted series on the networks and major cable stations; I also try to check in at least once on the various reality shows that are out there. I usually watch the first 2-4 episodes of new shows before I give up on them, unless they’re painfully bad. I also encourage my readers to tell me if they feel a show has improved or aired a particularly good episode, so if it’s a show I don’t usually watch, I can go give it another chance.

Older Shows

Maybe someday I’ll make a list of older shows where I’ve seen every episode, though that could certainly take a while. A list of favorite shows might be more interesting.
