Note to Publicists
I regularly receive review copies of current television shows and of TV DVDs from quite a few outlets, but I’m happy to be added to any of your mailing lists (assuming I’m not already on them). My beat is cable and network TV in the U.S. and TV on DVD; I cover daytime, primetime, and late night television– even sometimes featuring reruns of classic episodes.
The best way to contact me is via email to laurel at tvpicks.net or via the contact form on this site. I usually see email right away (within a few hours), but replies may take longer. If you need a response sooner rather than later or are concerned your message got caught in my spam filter, feel free to contact me a second time.
I appreciate being on your email lists for TV listings and press releases– the address to use for that stuff is also laurel at tvpicks.net. I prefer plain text or HTML emails to getting releases in other formats (Word docs, etc.) and the odds of my seeing something greatly increase if it’s a format I can read at a glance as I get a lot of email. I also like having access to any press materials you have available on the web.
I’m very happy to receive screeners of television content that hasn’t yet aired. Because this is an internet publication, I can handle shorter lead times than many other outlets (though when possible, I prefer to get things further than a day in advance and the more time I have, the more likely I can cover something). I try to screen the stuff that is sent to me and often will feature that stuff on my site, but can make no guarantees. Priority is always given to scripted primetime series (over reality shows, documentaries, or TV movies) as that seems to be what interests my readers the most. I prefer DVDs to tapes because DVDs take up less space and I can watch them on my laptop wherever I go, but I can (of course) handle VHS screeners.
Review copies of other TV related merchandise is also appreciated; I’m especially interested in TV on DVD (after all, this site is home to the first TV DVD list on the web), but also may find the time to review other TV tie in merchandise (books, soundtracks, and so on). I cannot guarantee a review of everything I’m sent (as time and resources are limited), but will do my best to get reviews up in a timely fashion; if you would like me to let you know when a review goes live, please tell me so.
