Primetime

College Basketball: Minnesota at Purdue (ESPN, 6pm). If you notice that I mention sporting events that feature teams from Minnesota a lot, that’s because I was born and raised in Minnesota and currently live in Minneapolis. I’m a Twins season ticket holder and baseball fan, so I tend to mention baseball most of all.

A new episode of Nova (PBS, check your local listings) covers “Killer Subs in Pearl Harbor”. You can find out more on the Nova website.

A Navy pilot is found dead under strange circumstances in a secluded area on a new NCIS (CBS, 7pm). Rena Sofer (of 24, General Hospital), Marcus Giamatti (of Judging Amy), and Chris Bruno (of The Dead Zone) guest star.

The med students are asked to share why they want to be doctors and Denise goes to Elliot of all people for relationship advice on a new Scrubs (ABC, 7pm). This new “Med School” incarnation of Scrubs is okay, it’s not as good as regular old Scrubs was. My husband keeps saying “well, it’s better than After M*A*S*H.”

A look at “the explosion in communications via the internet” and the terrorism threat coming from Yemen on a new episode of Dan Rather Reports (HDNet, 7pm and 10pm).

Lucy observes couplings throughout the hospital on a new Scrubs (ABC, 8pm).

The murder of a petty officer may have some connection to someone in Sam’s life and Hetty is concerned about the team on a new NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS, 8pm).

Mike works as an Animal Control Specialist on Dirty Jobs (DIscovery Channel, 8pm and 10pm).

Donald Schultz goes to Australia to find animals threatened with extinction by the cane toad on the series premiere of Wild Recon (Animal Planet, 8pm, 10pm, 3am; lots of additional airings during the week). Find out more on the website for the show.

Season premiere of Last Restaurant Standing (BBC America, 8pm, 11pm, 1am).

A new episode of HDNet World Report (HDNet, 8pm and 11pm) includes stories on: the resurgence of the American militia, universal health care, and healthcare’s “hidden voices.”

The Cole Family has a yard sale and work on ridding their home of clutter on a new One Big Happy Family (TLC, 8pm and 11pm). In a second new episode, Norris gives his wife the romantic proposal he never gave her (TLC, 8:30pm and 11:30pm). If you aren’t familiar with this show, it follows a family in which all members weigh over 300lbs as they work to make healthy lifestyle changes. It debuted on December 29th.

New Kitchen Impossible (DIY, 8pm and 11pm).

A security guard worships Ted; Phil and Lem are terrified of working alone with Veronica on a new Better Off Ted (ABC, 8:30pm).

There’s a wrongful death suit against a “caustic TV commentator” played by guest star Craig Bierko (of Boston Legal), and Alicia learns more about Peter’s fall from grace when she represents Glenn Childs’ wife in their divorce on a new episode of The Good Wife (CBS, 9pm). Other guest stars include Titus Welliver and Jessica Hecht.
