News & Notes

Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day is on The West Wing – The Complete Series Collection for just $121, which is a great deal. I’d be tempted to finally get this set, were I not so broke. Yesterday the set was selling at Amazon for $230. They’ve got TV DVD sets on sale all this week.

If you’re a fan of Homicide: Life on the Street and missed out on buying the complete series set before it went out of print, A&E Home Video is re-releasing the set in different packaging and it’s now available for pre-order. Homicide: Life on the Street – The Complete Series (repackaged) is due out on September 29th October 20th. The set includes all seven seasons of the series, plus the reunion movie, and the Law & Order crossover episodes with the show. There’s a commentary track for one episode each season, plus some other extra features (which were all available on the single season sets). Homicide remains my favorite TV show of all-time, so of course I think it’s worth purchasing if you don’t have the set or all the single-season sets.

Primetime

ESPN airs two MLB games: Rays at Yankees (ESPN, 6pm) and Dodgers at Diamondbacks (ESPN, 9pm).

I’m sad that it’s already time for the summer finale of Leverage (TNT, 8pm and 10pm).

Series premiere of Glee (FOX, 8pm; will also air on Friday at 8pm). This isn’t the very first episode, which aired at the end of last season, but is a new episode that you could consider the season premiere or series premiere. It’s a quirky show about a high school glee club. Definitely worth a look, even if you haven’t seen the very first episode.

Bear is in Alaska for a new episode of Man vs. Wild (Discovery, 8pm and 11pm).

New Gordon Ramsay’s F Word (BBC America, 8pm, 11pm, 1am).

Season premiere of Inside the NFL (Showtime, 8pm).

New Dog the Bounty Hunter (A&E, 8pm and midnight).

Steak fajitas on a new Throwdown with Bobby Flay (Food Network, 8pm and 11pm).

New Top Chef: Las Vegas (Bravo, 9pm – 10:15pm, 11:30pm – 12:45am, 12:45am – 2am). DVR/VCR Alert: Note that this episode has a runtime of 75 minutes.

Two new episodes of Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns (TBS, 9pm, 9:30pm).

Everyone at a Food Court in Philadelphia takes the day off and Robert fills in on a new Dinner: Impossible (Food Network, 8pm and midnight).

Adam Richman visits Hawaii on a new Man v. Food (Travel Channel, 9pm and 10pm).

Season finale of Criss Angel: Mindfreak (A&E, 9pm and 1am).

Season finale of The Real World (MTV, 9pm; with lots of other airings).
