Primetime
MLB: Rays at Yankees (ESPN, 6pm).
Alton Brown sneaks vegetables into treats to get his niece to eat them in a new episode of Good Eats (Food Network, 7pm and 2am). I imagine he’ll have a fresh new take on this idea which has been done to death in a couple of popular cookbooks in recent years.
Three new episodes of Mega Engineering (Discovery Channel, 7pm and 10pm, 8pm and 11pm, 9pm and midnight). The first looks at putting a dome over Houston, the second covers building a tunnel across the Bering Strait, the third looks at making New Orleans a “city at sea”.
New episode of Property Virgins (HGTV, 7pm and 11pm).
Brenda and her team investigate a rather nasty quadruple murder in the season premiere of The Closer (TNT, 8pm; also on Tuesday at 7pm and Saturday at 9:30am). Brenda is married now, so that changes things a little bit and there are also some changes to the squad this season. I’ve seen this episode and (as you might expect) it’s a good one.
New episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 8pm and 11pm).
New episode of Intervention (A&E, 8pm and midnight).
A woman needs to update her look before a choral performance so she gets some help in a new episode of Closet Cases (Fine Living Network, 8pm and 11pm; also on Sunday at 5pm).
Nancy gives Esteban proof of her claim from last season’s finale, Celia is held hostage, and the guys discuss grow plans in the season premiere of Weeds (Showtime, 9pm and 10pm; also on Tuseday at 9pm and 10pm; plenty of other additional airings). I’ve seen the first three episodes of this new season and they’re pretty much what you’d expect from this show– a good continuation from last season. If you’re already a fan and hooked, you’ll like these; it’s probably not the best place to jump into the series if you’re new to it.
It’s appropriate that the title of the season premiere of Raising the Bar (TNT, 9pm and 11pm) has the word “hair” in it and involves a barber as most fans will be thrilled that main character Jerry (as played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar ) finally receives a new haircut for this season. It’s a little sad that this matters so much to many, but his hair last year drove me nuts. This is a solid legal drama about a public defender and those he works with (including district attorneys and judges). The cast also includes Gloria Reuben, Currie Graham, Melissa Sagemiller, J. August Richards, Jonathan Scarfe, Teddy Sears, Natalia Cigiluti, and Jane Kaczmarek.
One person obsessively washes herself, another person fears death and aging on a new Obsessed (A&E, 9pm and 1am). You can read more about this show on the official website for it.
Lifetime begins airing a fresh run of reruns of Desperate Housewives (Lifetime, 9pm) on Monday nights at 9pm with the very first episode.
Season premiere of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List (Bravo, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm; also on Tuesday at Noon and 4pm; with lots of other airings). Bette Midler appears in this episode.
Edie Falco stars in the Series premiere of Nurse Jackie (Showtime, 9:30pm, 10:30pm; also on Tuesday at 9:30pm and 10:30pm). You may also find the episode on The 101 on DirecTV and online; here’s a link to the official website for the show. Falco plays a nurse who works at a hospital in New York City; she’s an excellent nurse with her own idea of justice– she’s also addicted to painkillers and leads a rather complicated life. I enjoyed this first episode of this dark comedy; if you like Weeds or are a fan of Falco’s, you should probably give this a try.
A couple with a house with a very grown-up style deceides to put together an outdoor room where their teenage triplets can have fun on a new Inside Out (DIY, 9:30pm and 1:30am).
Late Night
Gretchen Peters on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).
Stephen broadcasts from Iraq with guest Gen. Ray Odierno on The Colbert Report (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

David Duchovny, Anna Friel (of Pushing Daisies), Bill Burr on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 10:35pm).
Kevin Bacon, Michael Irvin on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, 11:35pm).
Kelly Ripa, Mark-Paul Gosselaar (of Raising the Bar), Amadou & Mariam on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (NBC, 11:35pm).
Adrien Brody, Steve “Lips” Kudlow & Robb Reiner, the Airborne Toxic Event on a rerun of Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).
Idris Elba (of The Wire), the Ting Tings on a rerun of Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).
