News & Notes

Amazon Gold Box Deal of the Day is on Stargate SG-1 – The Complete Series Collection for just $100; yesterday the set was selling for $230 at Amazon, list price is $330. As with all of the Deals of the Day, this discounted price is good today only, while supplies last. Awesome deal if you know a Stargate SG-1 fan who doesn’t have the show on DVD yet.

Today’s “TV Holi-Daily Deal” is on Amazon.com Exclusive: Battlestar Galactica Franchise Collection (Season One | Season 2.0 | Season 2.5 | Season 3.0 | BSG Razor) for just $100. Great deal today only. This set includes seasons one, two, and three of Battlestar Galactica along with the movie Razor. That’s a great price, though you might want to keep in mind the fact that the series will likely come out on Blu-Ray in 2009 and there will probably be a complete series set at some point.

Amazon has a Sale on HBO Dramas going on right now, where you can get sets of Carnivale, From the Earth to the Moon, John from Cincinnati, Six Feet Under, and Tell Me You Love Me for more than 60% off.

Die hard fans of HBO series may also be interested in the following complete series sets:
Deadwood: The Complete Series for around $105.
Sex and the City – The Complete Series (Collector’s Giftset) for around $100.
Six Feet Under – The Complete Series Gift Set for around $213.
The Sopranos – The Complete Series for around $200.
The Wire: The Complete Series for around $135.

Thanks, as always, to everyone who shops via my links or who sends donations or gifts my way.

Primetime

A criminal who is on the run crashes into the Buy More on Christmas Eve and takes Chuck, Ellie, Awesome, and the Buy More gang hostage in this new episode of Chuck (NBC, 7pm). Sadly the show won’t be back with new episodes until February. I’m really gonna miss this show while it’s off the air.

Sheldon obsesses over gift-giving etiquette, and one of Leonard’s colleagues starts dating Penny on a new The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 7pm). Last new episode of 2008, the next new episode will probably air on January 12th.

Sarah finally figures out what the three dots mean in this new episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX, 7pm). FOX is calling this a “fall finale” as the show won’t be back with new episodes until Friday, February 13th when it moves to a new night.

New episodes of Little People, Big World (TLC, 7pm and 10pm, 7:30pm and 10:30pm).

Marshall and Robin bond when he introduces her to a “Minnesota themed bar” in this new episode of How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 7:30pm). I’m surprised Marshall and Robin haven’t bonded more until now over the similarities between Minnesota and Canada. This Minnesotan is a bit agog at the very idea of a “Minnesota themed bar” and can’t wait to see this episode. Also Ted is a bit overprotective when his little sister comes to visit him. Last new episode of 2008, the next new episode will probably air on January 12th.

The Petrelli brothers battle against each other, Sylar takes hostages; Ando, Parkman, and Daphne try to rescue Hiro in this new episode of Heroes (NBC, 8pm). It looks like we won’t be seeing any more new episodes of this show until February 2nd. DVR/VCR Alert: Episode runs 61-62 minutes.

New Jon & Kate Plus 8 (TLC, 8pm and 11pm).

Charlie Sheen’s real-life brother Emilio Estevez guest stars as an old friend of Charlie’s in this new episode of Two and a Half Men (CBS, 8pm). James Earl Jones also guest stars. Last new episode ’til January 12th or so.

Michael needs medical attention, and someone returns to help uncover the true meaning of Scylla in this new episode of Prison Break (FOX, 8pm). There is a new episode scheduled to air next week.

Edward thinks he may have found a reliable way to activate the switch between himself and Henry in the series finale of My Own Worst Enemy (NBC, 9pm).

The team fights to save a neighborhood on the verge of being taken over by a violent street gang in this new episode of CSI: Miami (CBS, 9pm). They should really contact The A Team or something. Bad Actor Alert: Jon Seda (of Homicide) guest stars. Next new episode of this show probably airs on January 12th.

Late Night

Gov. Mike Huckabee on a rerun of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Michael Phelps on a rerun of The Colbert Report (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

Adam Sandler, a holiday toy demo on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Kate Winslet, Dame Edna, Sheryl Crow on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Carmen Electra, Dennis Lehane on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, 11:37pm).

Amy Adams, Eddie Izzard, John Legend on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:37pm).

Colin Farrell, Natalie Zea, Lady GaGa on a rerun of Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Rumer Willis, Meiko on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).
