News & Notes

Amazon has lots of nifty Cyber Monday Deals today on DVDs, video games, books, kitchenware, and all sorts of stuff.

The Amazon Deal of the Day brings you John Adams or Rome DVD sets for 60% off.

M*A*S*H – Martinis and Medicine Complete Collection is on sale for $78. That’s an incredible deal.

Some of the TV DVD deals I mentioned on Friday are still available now, I’ve added them to the TV on DVD page.

The Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog DVD is now available for pre-order from Amazon.

Rerun of the episode of Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings) from May with guest Barbara Walters.

Primetime

Carl Lumbly (who was “Dixon” on Alias) guest stars as Casey’s mentor, Bruce Boxleitner and Morgan Fairchild guest star as Captain Awesome’s parents, and Tony Hale continues his guest stint as an employee at the Buy More in this new episode of Chuck (NBC, 7pm). I could tell you about the plot, but I think the guest stars alone kinda sell this episode.

Blair and Chuck make a bet and that’s sure to be interesting, as always in this new episode of Gossip Girl (CW, 7pm). Folks get ready for the Snowflake Ball. Aaron’s ex-girlfriend expresses interest in Dan, which is awkward. And ther’es more awkwardness involving Jenny, Nate, and Vanessa. I’m still completely hooked on this show.

Cameron doesn’t sleep, so what does she do all night? I guess we find out in this new episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (FOX, 7pm). Let’s hope it’s more interesting than “stands guard all night”. And then there’s something about another terminator being sent back in time. Oh-oh.

Rerun of the episode of The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 7pm) where the guys acquire a full-size prop from The Time Machine.

Sheldon: “Why’d you set it for the day before yesterday?”
Leonard: “Because I want to go back and keep myself from getting a time machine.”
Sheldon: “You can’t. If you were to prevent yourself from buying it in the past, you would not have it available in the present – travel back and stop yourself from buying it, ergo you would still have it. This is a classic rookie time travel mistake.”
Leonard: “Can I go back and prevent you from explaining that to me?”
Sheldon: “Same paradox—if you were to travel back in time and, say, knock me unconscious, you would not then have the conversation that irritated you, motivating you to go back and knock me unconscious.”
Leonard: “What if I knocked you unconscious right now?”
  from The Big Bang Theory

Barney revisits a lot of women to try and figure out which mystery woman is messing with him in this rerun of How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 7:30pm).

Laurel visits an old flame (played by Michael Nouri) and Megan deals with Rose after her attempt to cheat in this new episode of Privileged (CW, 8pm; also on Tuesday at 8pm). Plus more relationship drama and family drama and teen drama, to be sure. I like this show. The CW is giving it a chance at some new viewers by airing it after Gossip Girl for a couple of weeks; episodes will also air in their usual Tuesday 8pm timeslot.

HRG is ready to take advantage of the situation when Sylar is bereft of his powers, Peter and Nathan team up with the Haitian, Ando tries to get Hiro’s memory back with the help of some comic book shop guys played by Seth Green and Breckin Meyer in part two of the “Eclipse” episode of Heroes (NBC, 8pm).

Two new episodes of Samantha Who? (ABC, 8:02pm, 8:31pm). In the first episode, Sam struggles as she tries to be green to impress her boyfriend (played by James Tupper of Men in Trees), in the second she goes on a family vacation.

Michael tries to hold the team together on Prison Break (FOX, 8pm).

Denny is given some bad news about his health and Betty White returns as Catherine Piper in this new episode of Boston Legal (ABC, 9:01pm). Tom Amandes, Henry Gibson, and Roma Maffia also guest star. The series finale airs next week.

Edward risks treason when he confronts that guy played by James Cromwell about his parent’s death in a new My Own Worst Enemy (NBC, 9pm).

Late Night

Anne Hathaway on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Khaled Hosseini, Roland Fryer on The Colbert Report (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

Russell Brand, Charlie Haden, Stupid Human Tricks on a rerun of The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Debra Messing, Cody Willard, Celine Dion on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Paris Hilton, Dr. Drew Pinsky on a rerun of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, 11:37pm).

Mike Myers, Jordana Spiro, Dolphina on a rerun of Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:37pm).

Sarah Silverman, T.I. on a rerun of Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Adam Carolla, Young Jeezy & Nas on a rerun of Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).
