Primetime
Emmy winner and TVPicks.net fave Zeljko Ivanek guest stars in a “special extended edition” of House (FOX, 7pm – 8:08pm). DVR/VCR Alert: This episode is scheduled to run 68 minutes, though I’d probably just add ten minutes on to the recording to be safe. Other guest stars in this episode include Wood Harris (who played “Avon Barksdale” on The Wire), Sarah Thompson (who was “Eve” on Angel and “Rose” on 7th Heaven), and Natasha Gregson Wagner.
Now that they’ve captured the mole at NCIS (CBS, 7pm), they’ve still got more work to do with her as they try to save one person and capture some others. David Eigenberg, who was “Steve Brady” on Sex and the City, guest stars.
A witness in a narcotics case is killed, but Jane thinks there’s another motive for his murder on The Mentalist (CBS, 8pm).
A mysterious incident at Massive Dynamic causes Olivia and Peter to revisit their past on Fringe (FOX, 8:08pm – 9:07pm). Yes, Olivia wants to go back into the tank. DVR/VCR Alert: This episode starts after the extended episode of House at 8:08pm and doesn’t end ’til 9:07pm. I recommend recording ’til 9:10pm to be sure you get the whole episode.
“Vellum Maker” is the job du jour on Dirty Jobs (Discovery, 8pm and midnight).
It all comes down to this, the 105-minute series finale of The Shield (FX, 9pm, 11:50pm; also airs on Saturday at 11pm). DVR/VCR Alert: Episode has a running time of 105 minutes. Clark Johnson directed this episode, which was filmed just as the writers went on strike. Johnson directed the first episode of the series as well as some others along the way; he also directed the first and last episodes of The Wire. I actually haven’t seen much of this season yet so am dying to do a big long marathon here at Wit’s End (TVPicks.net Headquarters). Don’t spoil me! I hope tonight’s finale is awesome.
Jack and Sam travel to L.A. together to work a case on Without a Trace (CBS, 9pm).
Brenda Blethyn, Mike Farrell, Nathaniel Marston, and Clea Duvall guest star on Law & Order: SVU (NBC, 9pm).

An interview with imprisoned sprinter Tim Montgomery, a profile of a high-school athlete with Down syndrome, BMX biker Stephen Murray is injured during a performance, and marathon training in drug rehabilitation are the topics on a new REAL Sports with Bryant Gumbel (HBO, 9pm).
A special holiday edition of Bizarre Food with Andrew Zimmern (Travel Channel, 9pm, 10pm, 1am).
New episode of Paris Hilton’s My New BFF (MTV, 9pm and 10:01pm).
