Best Bets

New Bones (FOX, 7pm)
New Criminal Minds (CBS, 8pm)
New Life (NBC, 8pm)
Season premiere of Law & Order (NBC, 9pm)
New Dirty Sexy Money (ABC, 9:01pm)
New Friday Night Lights (The 101 on DirecTV, 8pm and 11pm)

News & Notes

I got in the habit of saying “on a new episode of” during the summer months when new things were notable, but now that we’re in the thick of the fall season, it’s safe to assume I’m mentioning new episodes. If shows are reruns, I’ll say so. The grid also gives you an at-a-glance view of what’s new (yellow), special (red), or a rerun (aqua blue). “Special” indicates premieres and finales, specials, special night & time, that sort of thing.

Daytime

Part one of a “Two-Day Election Event” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

FX Sons of Anarchy also at 10:02pm

Primetime

Lionel Richie performs in this special Wednesday night results show for Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 7pm – 8:02pm). Normally the show would air on Tuesday, but because of the election it was pushed to Wednesday night. Sadly, this means that Pushing Daisies does not air tonight. Pushing Daisies will be back with a new episode on November 19th.

ESPN has NBA basketball, ESPN2 has college football.

At long last, Bones is back with a new episode! I missed the show when it was on a break because of baseball. The smashed remains of a well-known artist are found in a junkyard on Bones (FOX, 7pm; airs again on Monday, November 17th at 9pm on TNT). And one suspect has ties to Angela. Guest stars include Vicki Lewis (of NewsRadio), Jonathan Lapaglia, Patricia Belcher, Nicole Hiltz, and Carla Gallo.

The five remaining women travel by boat and Tyra is the one who takes their photos this week on America’s Next Top Model (CW, 7pm; also on Sunday at 8pm).

Someone is murdered inside Knight Industries headquarters in this Halloween episode of Knight Rider (NBC, 7pm; also on Saturday at 7pm).

Richard joins Christine and her new boyfriend on a dinner date on The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS, 7pm).

Gary and Allison each try to make a good first impression on the friends of their new significant others on Gary Unmarried (CBS, 7:30pm).

As the team investigates the kidnapping of a young boy in Las Vegas, Reid has dreams that may reveal some forgotten memories of his childhood on Criminal Minds (CBS, 8pm). Jane Lynch returns as Reid’s mother. Other guest stars in this episode: Reed Diamond (still best known for playing “Mike Kellerman” on Homicide), Kari Matchett (of Heartland, Invasion, 24), and Bruce French (of The Riches, Passions).

A woman is found dead in a pool of blood in a fancy apartment on Life (NBC, 8pm). This show has moved from Fridays at 9pm to Wednesdays at 8pm on NBC. Erik Estrada makes a cameo appearance in this episode. I’ve seen this episode and it’s a good one, which includes some interesting developments between Crews and Rachel (played by Jessy Schram).

New episode of Mythbusters (Discovery Channel, 8pm and midnight).

Addison faces some tough decisions as the new boss on Private Practice (ABC, 8:02pm) as Violet may break the law to help a friend. Meanwhile, someone at the show finally remembered that Sam and Naomi have a daughter so we finally see her reaction to her parents getting somewhat back together. Jayne Brook (of John Doe, Chicago Hope) continues her stint on the show.

Friday Night Lights (The 101, 8pm and 11pm; also airs on Friday at 8pm and 11pm). The 101 is a station that’s only available on DirecTV; these episodes of Friday Night Lights will air eventually on NBC, but probably not until February.

Anne tells the contestants they must throw her niece a birthday party and select a mother-daughter team from the guests to use in their next “trend” page on Stylista (CW, 8pm).

New Inside the NFL (Showtime, 8pm).

Back to back episodes of ‘Til Death (FOX, 8pm, 8:30pm).

A stockbroker is found dead and appears to have been badly beaten in the season premiere of Law & Order (NBC, 9pm). I really love the direction the show has taken since the additions of Jeremy Sisto and Linus Roache to the cast last season; I miss Jesse L. Martin and hope that Anthony Anderson grows on me. I’ve had a chance to see this episode and it’s really excellent.

Ron Glass (of Firefly, Barney Miller) and Isabella Hofmann (of Homicide) guest star on Dirty Sexy Money (ABC, 9:01pm). Joel Madden appears as himself. The episode is titled “The Verdict” so it sounds like we may see one in the trial. Secrets are revealed to some in this one, of course.

With Stahl pressing the women of SAMCRO, Jax sees Unser as the key to salvation; we also learn more about Cherry’s past on Sons of Anarchy (FX, 9pm, 10:02pm, 12:02am; also on Sunday at 10pm). DVR Alert: this episode has a running time of 62 minutes.

Three defendants are gunned down on the eve of their trial on CSI: NY (CBS, 9pm). I hate it when that happens. Teddy Dunn is among the guest stars, I know him best for playing “Duncan Kane” on Veronica Mars.

Season finale of Top Design (Bravo, 9pm, 10pm, 1am).

New Prototype This! (Discovery, 9pm and 1am; also on Sunday at 10am).

New TV Land Myths & Legends (TV Land, 9pm and midnight).

New K-9 Cops (Animal Planet, 9pm, 11pm, 4am).

A post-election themed new episode of South Park (Comedy Central, 9pm and 11pm).

David Alan Grier is sure to have something to say about the election on a new Chocolate News (Comedy Central, 9:30pm and 11:30pm).

Late Night

New episode of Red Hot and Green (HGTV, 10pm and 2am).

Chris Wallace on The Daily Show (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Ambassador Andrew Young on The Colbert Report (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

New episode of Haulin’ House (HGTV, 10:30pm and 2:30am).

Tom Brokaw, Vera Farmiga, Brad Paisley on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Samuel L. Jackson, Tony Durant, Tracy Chapman on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (NBC, 10:35pm).

Dennis Hopper, Katt Williams, Phil Lesh & Friends on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:37pm).

Paris Hilton, Dr. Drew Pinsky on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, 11:37pm).

Sean Hayes, Kenny Mayne, John Legend, and the latest Dancing with the Stars castoff on Jimmy Kimmel (ABC, check your local listings).

Dana Gould, Yelle on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).
