Primetime

There’s election night coverage on ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC which preempts their usual programming. Election night coverage also on PBS, BET, BBC America, and on all the cable news channels, of course. Coverage will run into late night programming, though networks will likely take breaks in their coverage for local newscasts.

National Geographic filmmakers reveal the stories behind some of the most amazing moments they caught on tape in National Geographic’s Most Amazing Moments (National Geographic, 7pm – 10pm, 10pm – 1am). This could be a good alternative to election coverage.

The theme tonight at Turner Classic Movies is “Decision Day” as they air Decision at Sundown (TCM, 7pm, letterboxed), Command Decision (TCM, 8:30pm), Decision Against Time (TCM, 10:30pm), and The Valley Of Decision (TCM, midnight). You can find out more about all these films on their website.

Annie and Dixon are told that they have a sibling they didn’t know about on 90210 (CW, 7pm). And then there’s a slumber party that goes awry.

College Football: Miami (Ohio) at Buffalo (ESPN2, 7pm).

College Football: Texas at Texas Tech (ESPN Classic, 7pm).

Jenn and Cassie are involved with a protest, Tay gets into trouble because of a girl on a new Lincoln Heights (ABC Family, 7pm and 11pm).

Reruns of the “This Spud’s For You” and “This Spud’s For You, Too” episodes of Good Eats (Food Network, 7pm and 2am, 7:30pm and 2:30am).

There’s a House marathon on USA today that runs all day and evening until 11pm.

TNT airs reruns of Law & Order (TNT, 5pm – 10pm).

The Travel channel airs a Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern (Travel, 1pm – 2am) marathon.

Megan discovers a secret about Laurel while researching her background for a potential biography on Privileged (CW, 8pm). And there’s tension between the twins over a modeling gig. Kathy Najimy guest stars.

Mike learns that many former presidents had dirty jobs on a special Election Night edition of Dirty Jobs (Discovery, 8pm and midnight).

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert do election night reporting on Indecision ‘08: America’s Choice (Comedy Central, 9pm, 10pm, midnight).

If you get WGN, you might want to check out the WGN News at Nine (WGN, 9pm) to see what coverage of the election in Chicago looks like given there’s the big Obama rally there and Obama is from Illinois.

Vic puts out a bounty with the gangs in this new episode of The Shield (FX, 9pm and 11:05pm; also airs on Saturday at 10:30pm). DVR/VCR Alert: Episode has a running time of 62 minutes.

Adrian Pasdar stars in the first two episodes of the cool short-lived series Profit (Chiller, 8pm and midnight, 9pm and 1am).

A house full of children makes romance difficult for Coolio; Coolio has a test dinner for an upcoming catering job on a new Coolio’s Rules (Oxygen, 9pm, 10pm, 1am).

New The Real Housewives of Atlanta (Bravo, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm).

Paris takes the remaining potential BFFs to party in Las Vegas in this new episode of Paris Hilton’s My New BFF (MTV, 9pm 10pm, 1am).

Late Night

Late night talk shows are all pre-empted or will air very delayed reruns, though Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are doing a live show Indecision ‘08: America’s Choice (Comedy Central, 9pm, 10pm, midnight).

Election Night coverage will continue well into the night.

BET has a bunch of Barack Obama speeches scheduled to air starting at 10pm (though I imagine it’s possible the start might be delayed due to election coverage depending on how the night goes): Running for Prez: Obama’s Announcement Speech (BET, 10pm), Obama Speech: Yes We Can (BET, 10:30pm), A More Perfect Union: Obama’s Speech About Race (BET, 11pm), and I Accept: Obama’s Nomination Speech (BET, midnight).

New Frank TV (TBS, 10pm and 1am).

Rerun of the season finale of Raising the Bar (TNT, 10pm).

Rerun of the latest episode of Californication (Showtime, 10pm, 10:30pm).

Up late on Election Night? Maybe you’ll feel the need to watch Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (TCM, 2:15am). If so, TCM is there for you.
