News & Notes:
I think I’m finally beginning to be over the really horrible cold or sinus infection that hit me hard on Friday and kept me fairly miserable all weekend. Sorry about my absence, glad to be back. Hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend or at least a decent one!
We’ve been watching a lot more of NASA TV than usual because it’s just so darn fun seeing the latest from the Phoenix on Mars and watching people on the International Space Station. There’s other cool programming too, of course.
Daytime
Rerun of the “Oprah Presents Dancing with the Stars Champions!” episode of Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings) which originally aired in February, so it’s featuring stars from season before last, though I think they introduce the (then) new group during the show.

Primetime
NBA playoffs: NBA Shootaround (ESPN, 7pm), Pistons at Celtics (ESPN, 7:30pm).
Stanley Cup Final, Game 3: Detroit Red Wings at Pittsburgh Penguins (NBC, 7pm).
Baseball: Dodgers at Cubs (ESPN2 or WGN depending on where you live, 7pm).
Frank Sinatra is the “Star of the Month” on Turner Classic Movies, tonight they air: The Man With The Golden Arm (TCM, 7pm, letterboxed), The Manchurian Candidate (TCM, 9:15pm, letterboxed), Not As A Stranger (TCM, 11:30pm), and Suddenly (TCM, 2am, letterboxed). You can read more about Sinatra on their website.
The new show Factory Made looks at (duh) how things are made. In factories. The first episode covers cowboy boots and how old carpet is refurbished (Discovery Channel, 7pm and 11pm), the second episode covers combine harvesters and fishing rods (Discovery Channel, 7:30pm and 11:30pm). These episodes both air again on Sunday morning.
The auditions continue on a new two-hour installment of So You Think You Can Dance (FOX, 7pm – 9pm).
Rebroadcast of the TV Land special The 50 Greatest TV Icons (TV Land, 7pm – 9pm).
A “rock and roll skateboarding wife” trades places with “an orderly wife whose kids clean up to three hours a day” on a new Wife Swap (ABC, 7pm).
The team must find a mole to catch a bomb-maker on a new episode of MI-5 (BBC America, 8pm and 11pm).
Rerun of the episode “Open Season” from near the end of season two of Criminal Minds (CBS, 8pm) back when Mandy Patinkin was still on the show. Bodies are discovered in a remote part of Idaho and it turns out the people have been hunted for sport. Man, I hate it when that happens. If you don’t regularly watch Criminal Minds and can stomach a show about catching serial killers and other nasty criminals, this is truly an excellent show that’s worth a look when it’s in reruns this summer (or catch it on DVD). I think the show is better written than most shows of this sort and with a compelling ensemble cast.
Garcia: (to Prentiss) “Lady, you are officially in my top eight, and I am so blogging about this later!”
from Criminal Minds
Investigators interview victims of wild boar attacks and go in search of “gigantic wild hogs” In a new episode of Monster Quest (History Channel, 8pm and midnight; also airs on Friday night at 9pm and 1am).
Matt takes the women square-dancing on a new Farmer Wants a Wife (CW, 8pm). There’s also “drama during the corn harvesting challenge.” The press release refers to the women as “girls” which seems common in press releases about reality competition shows like this– I just don’t get it.
I’m so very glad that Men in Trees (ABC, 9pm) is back from hiatus with a new episode, even if this will be the last season of the show. Marin helps Jack prepare for his new gig as a college lecturer, puppies keep Marin from working on her book (yay puppies!), Annie holds auditions for an Elmo talent show, Patrick continues to work in New York City where he’s pursued by another woman. Sadly only two more episodes remain after this one.
Robert prepares a dinner for 75 firefighters in a new episode of Dinner: Impossible (Food Network, 9pm and midnight) titled “Firehouse Fiasco”.
The chefs clean and butcher a slab of meat, the guest judge is Rick Tramonto on a newTop Chef (Bravo, 9pm, 10pm, midnight, 1am).
Scott Baio is profiled on a new Biography (Biography Channel, 9pm and 1am).
A man is killed by an exploding cigar and Danny is upset when a young boy he knows is killed in a robbery in this rerun of CSI: NY (CBS, 9pm) from earlier this season.
Lindsay: “I once spent my entire summer allowance on this hovercraft that Laughing Larry said would take me and my friends riding on a carpet of thin air. Hovercrap.”
Flack: “How about the x-ray specs I bought in middle school to see through a girls’ clothes? The only thing I ever saw through those was a nun coming at me with a yardstick.”
from CSI: NY
