News & Notes

ABC shows have been added to the Fall 2008 Schedule Grid Preview; I’ll be adding the CW later today. NBC data is already there. A list of shows that have been cancelled or which otherwise won’t be returning is included on the grid page.

A bunch of HBO shows have been added to the iTunes store. I don’t mention it a lot, but TVPicks.net is an iTunes affiliate. One of these days I’ll get around to putting more iTunes links here. Here are some links to use to get to the new content at the iTunes store (and if you visit iTunes using these links and buy stuff, TVPicks.net gets a cut of what you spend):

  • Deadwood, Season One Deadwood - Deadwood, Season 1
  • Flight of the Conchords, Season One Flight of the Conchords - Flight of the Conchords, Season 1

Primetime

NBA playoff games are on TNT tonight. Magic at Pistons (TNT, 6pm), Spurs at Hornets (TNT, 8:30pm).

Jimmy Palmer is targeted by a criminal on a new episode of NCIS (CBS, 7pm). Eek! Rocky Carroll continues his stint on the show as an NCIS Assistant Director.

The final three perform on a new American Idol (FOX, 7pm – 8:02pm). DVR/VCR Alert: Will run at least a couple minutes long.

Season finale of Beauty and the Geek (CW, 7pm).

New Raw Nature (Animal Planet, 7pm, 10pm, 2am).

Two new episodes of According to Jim (ABC, 7pm, 7:30pm). Just today ABC announced that the show will be back next year at midseason. Huh. I don’t get it, but someone must watch this show.

Hugh Hefner makes a cameo appearance on a new episode of Shark (CBS, 8pm). Word on the street is that CBS won’t be picking up this show for another season, we’ll find out for sure later this week. Deidre Lovejoy (of The Wire) is among the guest stars.

New Hell’s Kitchen (FOX, 8pm).

Could someone be double-crossing the devil in this new episode of Reaper (CW, 8pm)? Sounds like it. Richard Burgi guest stars. We should find out this afternoon whether this show will be back next season. Keep an eye on the Fall 2008 page or follow tvpicks on twitter.

Season finale of Last Restaurant Standing (BBC America, 8pm, 11pm, 1am).

New Deadliest Catch (Discovery, 8pm, 10pm, midnight).

New Big Ideas for a Small Planet (Sundance, 8pm; also on Friday at 9am).

I sure hope tonight’s finale of Women’s Murder Club (ABC, 9:02pm) does not end with a cliffhanger because the show was not picked up with another season so this will serve as the series finale. Probably for the best given the change in showrunners since I haven’t liked recent episodes as much as early ones. Still . . . a disappointment as I quite liked this show when it was good.

One of the detectives winds up a suspect in a murder case on the season finale of Law & Order: SVU (NBC, 9pm). This show will be back next season on the same night and time.

New Work Out (Bravo, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 1am).

New The Alaska Experiment (Discovery, 9pm and 1am).

New A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila (MTV, 9pm, 10:30pm, midnight).

Season finale of The Bad Girl’s Club (Oxygen, 9pm, 10pm, midnight).

New Iron Ring (BET, 9:30pm and 1am).

New Gene Simmons Family Jewels (A&E, 9:30pm and 1:30am).

New Deion & Pilar: Prime Time Love (Oxygen, 9:30pm, 10:30pm, 12:30am).

Late Night

Bill Moyers on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Jennifer Hooper McCarty on The Colbert Report (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

Regis Philbin, Laura Dern, Death Cab for Cutie on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Evangeline Lilly (of Lost), Ben Barnes, Switchfoot on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

John Cusack, Paraminder Nagra (of ER) on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, 11:37pm).

Steve Carell, Alyson Hannigan (of How I Met Your Mother, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Duffy on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:37pm).

David Spade (of Rules of Engagement), Jean Smart (of Samantha Who?), Ashlee Simpson on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Kaley Cuoco (of Big Bang Theory), Gavin Degraw on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).
