NCIS (CBS, 7pm) is back with a new episode tonight, there will be six more new episodes after this one and the show has been picked up for next season. In tonight’s new episode, the team is on a stakeout. Fun! And it sounds like there’s a storyline for Ducky (David McCallum) which is always a good thing. During the strike, this is one of the shows that I caught up with on DVD– I’d missed quite a few episodes from seasons one and two, so checked them out on DVD. This show isn’t a great show, but it’s a darn good one that has good cast chemistry and a unique style all its own. I know some folks who’ve passed on this show because they think it’s gonna be like JAG or a CSI show, but it’s really not like either.
The top eight finalists perform live on American Idol (FOX, 7pm).
The geeks get makeovers and appear on The Young and the Restless on Beauty and the Geek (CW, 7pm).
Women’s College Basketball: NCAA Tournament Final (ESPN, 7:30pm). Stanford vs. Tennessee. Pre-game show airs at 7pm.
One of the challenges on tonight’s new episode of Hell’s Kitchen (FOX, 8pm) involves slicing a halibut. And Gordon Ramsay is there being Gordon Ramsay, of course.
Back to back new episodes of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern: Zimmern visits New York City (Travel Channel, 8pm and midnight) and Chile (Travel Channel, 9pm, 10pm, and 1am).
DVR/VCR Alert: Dancing with the Stars (ABC, 8pm) runs two minutes long tonight.
Wolfgang Puck is profiled on a new Chefography (Food Network, 8pm and 11pm).
New Last Restaurant Standing (BBC America, 8pm, 11pm, 1am).
A look at the “Wildest Weather in the Cosmos” on a new episode of The Universe (History Channel, 8pm and midnight).
Boston Legal (ABC, 9:02pm) also returns with a new episode tonight and it’s another show I caught up with on DVD during the strike. I’ve always been a big fan of David E. Kelley’s work, but the last years of The Practice did nothing for me so I only watched a few episodes of this show in its early seasons– big mistake! I had a blast catching up with those early episodes. There should be five more new episodes after this one, this show has not yet been picked up for another season so if you like it, you might want to write and tell ABC (and make sure you watch and others you know watch). Stephen Root (of NewsRadio, King of the Hill) is one of the guest stars tonight.
Wayne runs into a bit of trouble at an investors’ meeting on The Riches (FX, 9pm, 10pm, midnight). And the kids try to “recapture the spirit of their Traveller childhood” in this new episode.
Filmmaker Lisa F. Jackson documents the brutal assault on thousands of women in the Democratic Republic of Congo in the new documentary The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo (HBO, 9pm). Additional airings on the various HBO stations this week.
Rerun of an early episode of NCIS (USA, 9pm).
Rerun of another early episode of Bones (TNT, 9pm).
