Spring Break

I’m taking a much-needed break, but will be back with daily updates by April 1st (no joke) if not sooner (sometime after Minicon and Easter, though). Want to know when I return? Follow the feed, join the email list, watch the feed on Livejournal, and/or follow tvpicks on Twitter.

Happy Anniversary To Us

My TV Picks were spun off of my weblog and onto a separate page (and later their own site) in March 1999.

Donations needed

The observant among you who visit the website may have noticed some little widgets in the sidebar which track donations in support of this site. Thanks to those of you who have donated recently, your help is very much appreciated. I still need more help if we’re to reach the goal of $500 in donations for March. And the laptop campaign is still going too. If even just a small percentage of you donated a few bucks, we should be able to make the goal easily. If you donate $50 or more, I’ll send you something nifty as a thank-you gift.

Can’t or don’t want to make a donation right now? That’s cool. There are other things you can do to support this site. What I could really use the most right now are job leads and ideas on how I could earn money for the work I’m doing here. Put on your thinking caps and drop me a line when you come up with something.

Technical Issues

I’m still working on all sorts of things behind-the-scenes. Trying to fix things so they don’t break again and make some improvements. If you have problems accessing the site, check the tvpicks twitter feed to find out what’s going on. If I don’t seem to be aware of the problem, please email me (laurel at tvpicks.net) so I know that there is a problem.

Other Places To Go For TV Info

My two favorite TV sites (other than my own) are TeeVee and TV Tattle. TV Barn is a longtime fave as well.

Sue Trowbridge has you covered if you’d like to know who the guests will be on the late night talk shows (and some of the daytime shows).

I always enjoy reading what Alan Sepinwall and Tim Goodman have to say about TV and I tend to agree with them more often than not. I tend to avoid reading what other TV critics are saying, but I can’t help but check out their blogs and columns from time to time.

The Futon Critic is probably the site that collects the most press releases from networks and cable stations in one place. Including listings data with episode descriptions.

The TV section at Zap2It has listings and best bets, among other things. So does TV Guide of course. As do many other sites or so I’m told (I know it’s a little weird, but I really don’t look at many other TV sites. I’m too busy watching stuff and wading through press releases myself).

I may post some “Best Bets” to Twitter because I’m finding it’s really very hard for me to not post about TV every day.

Got a fave TV site you think I should check out? Let me know. I used to have this really amazing page of TV Links (if I do say so myself) and should really build something like that again. After I get things fixed here, that is.

Thank You

Thanks to all of you who have visited the site, linked to the site, written to me, sent gifts, made donations, and done other cool things over the last nine years. Here’s hoping the tenth year will be the best yet.
