News & Notes

I haven’t received any donations during February and only received $25 in donations during January. Needless to say, this is nowhere near enough to cover expenses for this site and certainly isn’t enough to live on. Remember that I’m not paid to put this site together except by you guys. If you find this site useful, please donate some funds if you can. Thanks, once again, to everyone who supports this site.

If you get NASA TV, it’s fun to check it out from time to time, particularly during shuttle missions (there’s one going on now).

Primetime

Rerun of the second episode of Chuck (Sci-Fi, 6pm). If you missed some or all of the episodes of this fine show, don’t miss the reruns on the Sci-Fi Channel as it’s one of the best new shows this season. This one was written by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak, directed by Robert Duncan McNeill.

[Lester wants Chuck to go to repair a computer that's running Linux]
Chuck: “Why can’t you and Jeff go?”
Lester: “Linux-PCs? We are Mac-guys, Chuck. We are IT-artists!”
  from Chuck

Here’s a less geeky bonus quote from Chuck ’cause I like it too:

Casey: “This is how this is gonna work: I’m gonna go over there, rescue Sarah, capture Dr. Zarno, shoot anybody who gets in my way. You, you’re gonna stay here.”
Chuck: “So in this plan I basically do nothing?”
Casey: “Yup.”
Chuck: “Let’s do this.”

NBA hoops: Celtics at Timberwolves (ESPN, 7pm), Wizards at Nuggets (ESPN, 9:30pm). Kevin Garnett won’t be playing in the game, or at least that’s what reports say. Wolves fans will get a minute before the game to acknowledge K.G. on the bench before he leaves the floor. This article has more details. Turner Classic Movies airs some Oscar-nominated films from the ’70s: David Carradine stars as Woody Guthrie in Bound for Glory (TCM, 7pm, letterboxed), a luxury liner carries Jewish refugees from Germany in Voyage of the Damned (TCM, 9:30pm); Marlon Brando, Martin Sheen, and Robert Duvall star in Apocalypse Now (TCM, 12:15am).

Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes star in Baz Luhrman’s film adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet (FOX Movie Channel, 7pm, 9:30pm, midnight; letterboxed and uncut).

Season finale of Flash Gordon (Sci-Fi, 7pm and 10pm).

Another new episode of Gone Country (CMT, 7pm).

Jeremy Miller (of Growing Pains) and Charlene Tilton (of Dallas) appear on 1 vs. 100 (NBC, 7pm) to ask questions in this special pop culture themed episode.

Season finale of Friday Night Lights (NBC, 8pm). Smash is determined to get a scholarship, but even he is surprised by an offer he receives. An ex-boyfriend of Mrs. Coach is in town for too long (at least Coach thinks so). Jason Street gets big news. And, well, a whole lot more is going on.

Clinton and Stacey help Kathy, a 39-year-old single mother who wants to start dating again on a new What Not To Wear (TLC, 8pm and 10pm; also at 1pm on Saturday).

No new Monk tonight, the next new episode debuts next week (it’s part one of the two-part season finale).

Carson advises a 32-year-old mother of two who is not wild about what pregnancy has done to her body on a new How To Look Good Naked (Lifetime, 8pm). Followed by a rerun of an older episode (Lifetime, 8:30pm) where Carson advises a 26-year-old businesswoman named Corrina Chen.

Robert Webb and David Mitchell (of Peep Show) return to BBC America with a new sketch comedy series called That Mitchell & Webb Look (BBC America, 8:20pm, 11:20pm, 1:20am). This is the first of six episodes.

The therapist visits a therapist on a new In Treatment (HBO, 8:30pm). Preceded by a rerun of last Friday’s episode (HBO, 8pm). If you don’t get HBO, you can still see this show for free online (visit HBO.com to do so).

When a prominent fashion designer is murdered during Fashion Week, of course Shawn and Gus go under cover as models on a new Psych (USA, 9pm and midnight; also 5pm on Saturday and 9am on Sunday).

Carter, McKay, and Dr. Keller become trapped in an underground mining chamber on a new Stargate Atlantis (Sci-Fi, 9pm and 11pm). I hate it when that happens.

Terry Bradshaw guest stars on Las Vegas (NBC, 9pm) as a guy with a rather suspicious winning streak. Kathryn Joosten (who’ll always be “Mrs. Landingham” to me) guest stars as the grandmother of a whale. NBC still has two more new episodes to air after this one.

I’m not sure what the topics will be on tonight’s new episode of 20/20 (ABC, 9:02pm). Maybe there’ll be more info on ABC.com later today.

New episode of Ten Years Younger (TLC, 9pm and midnight). Looks like they try to make three different people look younger in this one.

Paula Deen and her son Jamie share an old family recipe for chocolate dippity donuts and Savannah’s police department suprises Paula on a new Paula’s Party (Food Network, 9pm and midnight).

Late Night

New episode of Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO, 10pm). I’m not sure who the guests are at this point, they really aren’t announcing these things very far in advance.

Colin Farrell, Blake Lively (of Gossip Girl), Lenny Kravitz on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Jessica Alba (of Dark Angel), Mo’Nique, Dierks Bentley on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, 11:37pm).
