Primetime

Betty unknowingly begins using a very odd (and bad for you) perfume which has her and Henry acting strangely on a new Ugly Betty (ABC, 7pm). And Claire Meade takes the stand in the trial. Just one more new episode for this season after this one.

2007’s Miss America Lauren Nelson plays (for charity of course) on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? (FOX, 7pm).

Earl is offered time off from his sentence if he can stop the fighting between two prison gangs in this rerun of My Name Is Earl (NBC, 7pm). What Earl doesn’t realize at first is that there’s a love story somewhere in there. Aw. Craig T. Nelson guest stars as the warden, Dee Wallace plays his wife (who happens to be the governor).

Joy: “Randy, they’re not going to send you to prison for slappin’ a cop. And even if they did, you know the odds you’d be sent to the same place as Earl?”
Randy: “Seven?”
  from My Name Is Earl

Lana absorbs Clark’s powers during a lightning storm in this rerun of Smallville (CW, 7pm).

Lana: “I’ve been given a gift. I can break into any locked door, slip into any room unnoticed, eavesdrop on any conversation.”
Chloe: “So are you passing on the circus, so you can go and join the KGB?”
  from Smallville

A family court judge goes missing in this rerun of Without A Trace (CBS, 7pm). Loren Dean plays the judge, he make look familiar to you if you watch Bones because he plays Temperance’s brother Russ on that show.

The celebrities are given an Airstream trailer and a graphic artist, and each team must create and operate a mobile printing station for Kodak on a new episode of The Apprentice (NBC, 8pm – 9:01pm). Alec Baldwin (of 30 Rock) pays a visit to the show to help his brother. DVR Alert: Runs one minute long.

Harold Perrineau Jr. guest stars on a rerun of C.S.I. (CBS, 8pm); he’s best known these days for playing “Michael” on Lost, he also was “Augustus Hill” on Oz. In this episode, he plays an ex-con turned preacher who ends up a suspect after a family is murdered. He thinks a girl is possessed by the devil and is involved. This episode was written by Doug Petrie who previously did a lot of writing for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

George ends up standing in for a competitive bride as part of a contest in this rerun of Grey’s Anatomy (ABC, 8pm). Two women are brought into the ER while still holding on to a wedding dress as part of a contest. And then there’s the skydiver who survived a fall even though his chute did not open. And The Chief wants to have a “gentlemen’s evening” which seems to confuse McDreamy and McSteamy. Plus Izzie and George try to get together. Didn’t I just mention Tom Verica’s directing career earlier this week? The actor, who is probably best known in recent years for playing the Dad on American Dreams, also directed this episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

Mark Sloan: Dr. Hahn, I heard a crazy rumor about you.
Erica Hahn: That I’m performing open heart surgery on a man who’s wide awake.
Mark: That’s the rumor.
Erica: That’s the truth.
Derek Shepherd: I perform awake brain surgery all the time.
Erica and Mark: Not the same thing.
Mark: You ever hear of a gentlemen’s evening?
Erica: I’m sorry?
Derek: The Chief is hosting a gentleman’s evening.
Mark: We’re pretty sure it doesn’t involve porn, but . . . I wanna be sure.
Derek: Hmm. Right.
Erica: Are you two a couple?
Derek and Mark: (they laugh) No.
Erica: Okay, just checking. (walks off)
Derek: Why– Why would she ask that?
Mark: I- I don’t know. I’m worried about this gentlemen’s thing.
  from Grey’s Anatomy

People are drowning on dry land in this rerun of Supernatural (CW, 8pm). There’s a ghost ship involved.

A woman goes missing while working at a Veteran’s hospital on the season finale of Without A Trace (CBS, 9pm). And James Marsters continues his guest stint on the show (you know him as “Spike” from Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as well as guest spots on Torchwood and Smallville). Marsters is in the new season of Torchwood which only just started in the U.K. this week, those episodes begin airing on BBC America later this month.

Pratt gets cold feet, Neela joins a hockey team, anda prison doctor pays a visit to the hospital on the season finale of ER (NBC, 9:01pm). Kari Matchett and Reiko Aylesworth both guest star on the show again.

New episode of Big Shots (ABC, 9pm). James wants to take his relationship with Katie public, Duncan deals with a PR nightmare, Brody gets involved somehow with an out-of-control baseball player, and I continue to wonder how a show with so much talent involved can be so crappy. Oh yeah, the press release also says “and someone will die” which makes me hear that “dun dun dunnnn” music in my head.

Late Night

Sylvester Stallone, the Teutul family, the Mars Volta on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Trace Adkins, Julie Benz (of Dexter, Angel) on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, 11:37pm).

Other late night shows have new episodes, but they don’t have writers and aren’t usually announcing their guest lineups very much in advance (if at all).
