If you’re one of those geeks (I say this in a good way) who will be ordering something from the Apple Store today, remember that this site is an affiliate for the store. So if you start your visit to the store via the Apple Store button in the sidebar here at TVPicks.net, a bit of the money you spend comes back to this site. Thanks in advance to everyone who does that.

Primetime

College basketball: Ohio State at Michigan State (ESPN, 6pm) and Kentucky at Mississippi State (ESPN, 8pm).

Season premiere of American Idol (FOX, 7pm - 9pm). The auditions begin. I know some people enjoy these early episodes each season, I find it too painful to watch the talent-challenged participants.

The team investigates the mysterious death of a Muslim Marine near a Mosque in the season finale of NCIS (CBS, 7pm). Shaun Toub (of the film The Kite Runner) guest stars. DVR Alert: This episode was originally scheduled to air a while ago so your DVR may (incorrectly) think this is a rerun.

Rerun of the very first episode of Reaper (CW, 7pm). Lots of people really liked it, I thought the show had potential, but I really couldn’t stand the sidekick “Sock” and well . . . I haven’t warmed to the show (or that character, which really drags things down). Subsequent episodes have been, IMHO, mediocre with occasional above average stuff.

Hunt appears to have killed someone in this new (to the U.S.) episode of Life on Mars (BBC America, 8pm and 11pm).

Part 2 (of 3) of Comanche Moon (CBS, 8pm).

Kevin Federline guest stars on a new One Tree Hill (CW, 8pm).

Cheryl and Jim have a food fight on a new According To Jim (ABC, 8pm).

Season finale of London Ink (TLC, 8pm and 11pm).

“Steel Mill Worker” is the job du jour on a new Dirty Jobs (Discovery, 8pm and midnight).

Laird (Jerry O’Connell) borrows Gracen’s wedding ring in this rerun of Carpoolers (ABC, 8:30pm). And Aubrey is sneaking off to a motel. This series was created by Bruce McCulloch (of Kids in the Hall). I tend to find the stuff about actual carpooling funny (like the bit with “Come On Eileen” in this episode), but the rest of the show isn’t very good.

A young Jewish boy is brutally attacked on a new Law & Order: SVU (NBC, 9pm). Alexander Gould (who is excellent as “Shane” on Weeds) and Rhea Perlman (of Cheers) guest star.

Denny Crane! takes on a high profile murder case and tries to refuse help from Alan on a new Boston Legal (ABC, 9pm). Guest stars include: Bess Armstrong, Jenifer Lewis, Xander Berkley (of 24), Grant Shaud (of Murphy Brown), and Patrick Fabian. Episode was written by David E. Kelley and Lawrence Broch, directed by Tom Verica (who is better known as an actor than a director, he played “Jack” on American Dreams). DVR Alert: This episode was originally scheduled to air last week so your DVR may (incorrectly) think tonight’s episode is a rerun.

Brian Unger (remember him?) and physicist Louis A. Bloomfield go on factory tours to find out how various things are made on Some Assembly Required (Discovery, 9pm and 1am). Tonight’s episode covers jelly beans, bowling balls, and toilets.

Nip/Tuck (FX, 9pm, 10pm; also on Fri at 10pm and Sun at 9pm). This is episode nine for this season; fourteen episodes were filmed before the strike began.

New episode of L.A. Ink (TLC, 9pm, 10pm).

Two new episodes of Parking Wars (A&E, 9pm and 1am, 9:30pm and 1:30am).

Season finale of Twister Sisters (Oxygen, 9pm and midnight).

Late Night

Season premiere of 10 Items or Less (TBS, 10pm). Second season of this odd sitcom that’s set in a grocery store. Leslie finds 5,000 silver dollars in his father’s office safe and decides to create a giveaway in which customers get to stand in a large glass box grabbing at dollar bills being blown around by a fan. Things go awry, of course.

Denzel Washington, Don Rickles on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Drew Carey, Seth Gabel, Kate Nash on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, 11:37pm).

Yes, the other late night talk shows may have new episodes, but they’re doing them without writers. And they aren’t usually announcing the guests in advance (or very much in advance).
