News & Notes
I’m rather stressed out about financial matters right now so if you’ve ever thought about making a donation in support of this site, now would be an excellent time to do so. You can donate with any major credit card (no, you don’t need to have a Paypal account to do so) or with a Paypal account. Donate!
Honestly, I may have to give up this site and focus on finding a job (other than this) if I don’t figure out a way to make more money here. Have ideas to help with that? Get in touch. Want to purchase a text or banner ad on the site? Then you should also get in touch. And, as ever, donations are much appreciated. Gifts too. And if you’ve already donated recently or can’t afford to, encouraging emails are also wonderful to receive (and help keep me going).
This week we have a contest going on to win season one of Dexter, check it out on the contests page. Next week we’ll be giving away the latest Looney Tunes Golden Collection set. Nifty!
Thursday seems to be the night of odd start and end times for shows, so if you record a particular show on DVR or VCR, you might want to pad the recording where possible. I do my best to list the right times here.
TiVo Users: If you’re like me and have a season pass for Law & Order: Criminal Intent or Monk or Psych, you may have been annoyed this week as the listings for those shows haven’t been terribly descriptive. As a result, my TiVo keeps recording reruns of Criminal Intent when I just want the latest new episode. Grrr! I’ve contacted USA and Zap2It (who provides listings to TiVo) to bug them to fix things. If you haven’t been paying attention to your TiVo, you might want to take a look and be sure it does record tonight’s new Law & Order: Criminal Intent (and not all the others).

Primetime
If it seems like lots of NBC shows are mentioning environmental issues, it’s part of a special event called “Green Week”. I suspect tonight’s sitcoms will have the most fun with this (in fact I know that 30 Rock sure does).
NBA action on TNT.
It’s time for the big wedding on Ugly Betty (ABC, 7pm). Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham guest stars as a version of herself who will be maid of honor. Vera Wang makes an apperance as herself. Rick Fox guest stars as Wilhelmina’s bodyguard.
Tonight’s new episode of My Name Is Earl (NBC, 7pm) is titled “Randy in Charge (of our days and our nights . . . )” and you’ve got to love that (well, if you’re like me). Who doesn’t enjoy a good Charles in Charge reference? Craig T. Nelson guest stars again as the prison warden. The warden wants Earl to perform a skit that will scare kids straight and also have a positive message about the environment. I’ve really enjoyed this season of the show thus far, whereas last season my interest did flag a bit.
Lana winds up with powers just like Clark’s on Smallville (CW, 7pm) and she decides to use them to go after Lex. This should be fun, especially when there’s sure to be a Clark vs. Lana showdown.
Romancing the Bird: A Good Eats Thanksgiving (Food Network, 7pm and 2am) is a classic hour of television and must-see viewing for Good Eats and Alton Brown fans. Or anyone who cooks for Thanksgiving.
Tony Hawk appears on Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? (FOX, 7pm).
Jack comes up with the idea for an eco-friendly mascot named “Greenzo” on 30 Rock (NBC, 7:30pm) when G.E. has a big environmental inititiative. Hee! David Schwimmer (of Friends) plays the annoying Greenzo. Tracy decides to help Kenneth with his annual house party. Al Gore and Meredith Vieira also guest star.
The C.S.I. (CBS, 8pm) team investigates the death of a boy; it turns out he may be a kidnap victim from New York City. Anthony LaPaglia guest stars as Jack Malone (from Without A Trace) the first part of a two-part crossover episode that continues on Without A Trace (CBS, 9pm). I find it interesting that CSI star and producer William Peterson was never keen on doing further crossovers with the other two CSI shows, but they are doing a crossover with Without A Trace. I think this crossover should be fun and that it makes sense (and that Trace is better than the other two CSI shows).
Tonight’s new episode of Grey’s Anatomy (ABC, 8pm – 9:07pm) is long (again) and chock full of guest stars. Jeff Perry returns as Meredith’s father. Other guest stars include Stephanie March (of Law & Order: SVU), Vicki Lewis (of NewsRadio), Kurt Fuller (of Big Day, That’s My Bush, and many many shows), and Rockmond Dunbar (of Heartland and Prison Break).
Michael heads into the woods for a survivial adventure on The Office (NBC, 8pm – 8:31pm).
Bela returns as Sam and Dean investigate the drowning deaths of people on dry land on Supernatural (CW, 8pm).
The Janitor becomes the Environmental Officer at Sacred Heart on Scrubs (NBC, 8:31pm – 9:01pm). Tom Cavanagh (of Ed) returns to the show as JD’s brother.
Logan and Falacci investigate the shooting of the wife of a corrupt judge on a new Law & Order: Criminal Intent (USA, 9pm and midnight).
William Peterson guest stars on Without A Trace (CBS, 9pm) as Gil Grissom (of C.S.I.) in part two of a crossover episode between the shows. Grissom pays a visit to the FBI offices in New York City. Cool!
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX, 9pm and 11pm, 9:30pm and 11:30pm).
Rebroadcast of this week’s new “exploding water heater” episode of Mythbusters (Discovery, 9pm and 1am).
Rolling blackouts hit Chicago on ER (NBC, 9:01pm). Stanley Tucci continues his guest stint on the show; Reiko Aylesworth (of 24) also guest stars.
Brody’s father-in-law visits the Big Shots (ABC, 9:07pm – 10pm). This episode was written by Diane Ruggiero (of Veronica Mars, Dirty Sexy Money).
