News & Notes

You’ll find coverage of the WGA strike elsewhere, there’s a roundup of links on TV Tattle.

Rest assured, I’ll still be here finding things for you to watch. The longer the strike goes on, the more reruns I may recommend or I may end up doing more recommendations of TV DVD sets. There’s no shortage of excellent TV out there, even with the strike. I do support the writers in this and hope a reasonable deal is reached soon.

Monday Daytime

Russell Crowe, a kindergartner who reads at a fifth grade level, Carrie Underwood on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Five finalists in “So You Think You Can Cook?” contest, Julianne Moore on The Rachael Ray Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Primetime

Chuck returns to Stanford during homecoming weekend on Chuck (NBC, 7pm; also on Sat at 8pm). Chuck’s trying to help a former professor but in the process uncovers secrets about himself and Bryce. Matthew Bomer reprises the role of Bryce, presumably in flashbacks. Bomer was “Jay” on Traveler, “Luc” on Tru Calling, and “Ben Reade” on Guiding Light (I’m still peeved at the writers over what they did to that character).

Lily and Marshall decide to buy a place together on How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 7pm). Things get messy when a secret is unearthed during the financing process.

Chris takes a job with the school newspaper on Everybody Hates Chris (CW, 7pm). When his stories don’t impress, he makes up one and . . . hijinks presumably ensue.

Back to back new episodes of Prison Break (FOX, 7pm – 9pm). Or you could consider it one special two-hour episode.

Rebroadcasts of the latest episodes of Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO, 7pm), Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO, 8pm), Five Days (HBO, 8:30pm), and Tell Me You Love Me (HBO, 9:30pm).

Justin and Raja end up competing when they build floats for homecoming on Aliens in America (CW, 7:30pm).

The guys end up asking Penny to join their gaming team (they’re playing Halo) on The Big Bang Theory (CBS, 7:30pm).

Football: Ravens at Steelers (ESPN, 7:30pm; preceded by pre-game at 7pm).

Heroes (NBC, 8pm – 9:01pm; also on Sat at 9pm on G4 and Sun at 5pm on G4). DVR/VCR Alert: Runs 1 minute long. Several characters face off against the “nightmare man” while Hiro completes his time in the past (I think) and Peter sees more of a future post-plague.

Robert Wagner returns for another episode of Two and a Half Men (CBS, 8pm).

Samantha realizes that she has no memory of having sex on Samantha Who? (ABC, 8:45pm – 9:15pm). DVR/VCR Alert: Note odd start and end time. So Sam considers that she gets to have another “first time” in some respects and wonders how to approach that. Or something.

Something that Dan does in the past may affect his future in a bad bad way on Journeyman (NBC, 9:01pm). You knew that’d happen eventually.

New Weeds (Showtime, 9pm and 9:30pm).

A model is electrocuted on the runway on CSI: Miami (CBS, 9pm).

Sandra Brown on a new episode of Murder By The Book (Court TV, 9pm and 1am).

Living with Ed (HGTV, 9:30pm and 1:30am).

Late Night

Expect nothing but reruns here because of the WGA strike, though Sue Trowbridge will have the latest lineup info on her site for guest listings, etc.

Tuesday Daytime

Dylan McDermott, Portia DeRossi on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Guest co-host Tori Spelling; with guests Terri Irwin, Andrea Bocelli on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Jenny McCarthy, Keith Urban, more tattoos you have to see to believe on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Josh Turner, Pierre Schaedelin (Martha’s personal chef) makes short ribs, David Mizejewski of the National Wildlife Federation talks insects, secret sources for tabletop accessories on Martha (syndicated, check your local listings).

Robin McGraw, undercover at a high school reunion on The Rachael Ray Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Tyra, I Need To Know” (Tyra and Dr. Garry Corgiat confront four people tormented with personal demons) on The Tyra Banks Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“YouTube’s Greatest Hits with the Billionaire Founders” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Introducing the House of Judgment” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).
