Primetime
Series premiere of Pirate Master (CBS, 7pm). It’s like Survivor only the competitors are on an old ship instead of on an island. And it’s pirate-themed, of course. Might be worth a look if you like pirates (arrrr!) or Survivor and other shows of that type.
Kids spell at the 2007 Scripps National Spelling Bee (ABC, 7pm – 9pm).
Debra Messing (of Will & Grace, Ned & Stacey) stars in a limited run series (a.k.a. miniseries) called The Starter Wife (USA, 8pm – 10pm, 11pm – 1am) which is based on the book by Gigi Levangie Grazer. She plays Molly, a woman who is thrown for a bit of a loop when her studio exec husband dumps her after ten years of marriage. I’ve seen this first episode and I liked it– it’s low key (and slow moving) fluff, but diverting enough for summer fare if you like this sort of thing. Judy Davis and Joe Mantegna also star. Will Molly take to a new life on her own? I’m guessing the answer is yes, certainly by the end of the miniseries.
Roger Daltrey guest stars on a rerun of CSI (CBS, 8pm).
Jordan has some sort of emergency with her pregnancy as other folks are also having their own emergencies during a live taping of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBC, 9pm). Wasn’t last week’s episode weird? Well, I found it odd that Matthew Perry, Bradley Whitford, and Amanda Peet didn’t appear in it at all. Sounds like they’re in this one. I kinda liked this show, flaws and all, mostly due to the great work by a strong ensemble cast. It’s a pity the talented cast didn’t get better material to work with. If you like the show, there are still a few more eipsodes left that will air on Thursdays on NBC.
Tim Matheson guest stars on a rerun of Shark (CBS, 9pm).
