News & Notes
DVR/VCR Alert: American Idol runs from 7pm ’til 8:07pm; House starts at 8:07pm and runs ’til 9:07pm. Man, I hate it when they do this.
In the Twin Cities metro area, you can see the special Twins Sportswrap at 7pm on KSTP TV (our local ABC affiliate). The special will also air again on KSTC (channel 45) on Sunday April 1st at 7pm and on Saturday, April 7th at 6pm. I noted this on WinTwins.net, but thought there might be interest here as well.
Veronica Mars returns on May 1st. I miss it.

Primetime
Tonight’s theme on Turner Classic Movies is “Watching The Detectives” and I love that. Here’s the lineup: Shamus (TCM, 7pm), Marlowe (TCM, 9pm), Chinatown (TCM, 11pm), Shaft (TCM, 1:15am), and Devil in a Blue Dress (TCM, 3am). They’re all uncut and letterboxed and that’s awesome (and why most movies I watch on TV are on TCM).
Gwen Stefani mentors the remaining ten competitors on American Idol (FOX, 7pm – 8:07pm). DVR/VCR Alert: The show runs seven minutes long.
“To Catch an ID Thief” on Dateline NBC (NBC, 7pm). A look at identity theft.
Rerun of Gilmore Girls (CW, 7pm) where Lorelai wonders why Sookie is acting so strangely, Rory makes up with a friend, and Luke has a custody hearing. Yeah, it’s the one with the letter.
Chris: Hey have you seen the level?
Lorelai: The, uh, thing with the green bubble that goes back and forth?
Chris: Yeah
Lorelai: Yeah, Paul Anka and I were playing with it.
Chris: You were playing with it with the dog?
Lorelai: Yes, I was trying to hypnotize him with the bubble.
Chris: Uh Huh.
Lorelai: To see if I could talk him out of the habit of chewing on the corner of the welcome mat. Or I was going to give him a wacky post-hypnotic suggestion like the door bell rings and he spins around in circles.
Chris: Were you able to hypnotize him?
Lorelai: No Chris, he’s a dog.
from Gilmore Girls
A Marine is killed at a country club on a rerun of NCIS (CBS, 7pm).
Marc Blucas guest stars on House (FOX, 8:07pm; airs again on USA). Blucas is best known (to me at least) for portraying “Riley” on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In this new episode, House dreams about someone and then it turns out that same person is a patient the next day. Weird, ‘cuz he’s no Medium. It sounds like Blucas may play someone in the military, I’m gonna assume he’s not with The Initiative. DVR/VCR Alert: This episode starts seven minutes later than usual because American Idol runs seven minutes long. So it’ll air from 8:07pm ’til 9:07pm.
Bob and his translator survive a helicopter crash in Siberia, but then they’ve got to battle to survive on a rerun of The Unit (CBS, 8pm).
Griffin Dunne guest stars on a new Law & Order: Criminal Intent (NBC, 8pm; airs again on USA). It’s a Logan and Wheeler episode. The son of a judge is found dead; it also sounds like we’re gonna learn a bit about Wheeler’s personal life.
Tim Daly (of The Nine) and Kathy Baker (of oh so many things) both guest star on Law & Order: SVU (NBC, 9pm; airs again on USA). Daly plays a preacher who is the prime suspect in a case.
Series premiere of The Great American Dream Vote (ABC, 9pm). The show’s regular timeslot will be on Wednesday. Donny Osmond hosts this show where we meet people with lifelong dreams and then the public votes on who gets to have their dream come true. Or something like that.
Jennifer Aniston is reunited with Courtney Cox on the season finale of Dirt (FX, 9pm, 10:06pm, 12:19am; also airs on Friday and Sunday). DVR/VCR Alert: Episode runs 66 minutes.
Late Night:
Miss the season finale of Battlestar Galactica? It airs again tonight (Sci-Fi, 10pm). I wouldn’t watch it if you aren’t caught up with the series; you’ll have plenty of time to catch up before the next season starts (in January 2008).
Rebroadcast of the latest episode of The Riches (FX, 11:11pm – 12:19am) in case you missed it. Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver star in this great show that isn’t at all what most people expected it would be.
Here’s a link to Sue Trowbridge’s late night talk show lineups for tonight. In case you’re curious who the guests are and which shows are new and which are reruns.
