News & Notes
I’ll be announcing the winner of the Homicide contest tomorrow, not today as originally planned. Sorry about the delay.
Monk and Psych will return with additional new episodes on Friday, January 19th. There will also be another “special episode” of Monk on December 22nd.
Argh. ABC has pulled The Nine from their schedule– no word yet on when/if it will return or what will become of it (though there’s a note on the show’s webpage that says the show will return later this season, I hope that’s not just wishful thinking). The show had a 13-episode order and ABC had ordered four additional scripts beyond that. Only seven episodes have aired thus far.
Check out the new, improved TVPicks.net store. I’m still working on it. I’m an Affiliate with Amazon.com (and have been one for years); this store links to their products– I’ll be highlighting some of my favorite things there and making some gift recommendations. Thanks to everyone who shops via these links and the other links on this site! I couldn’t keep this site alive without your support.
I hope you all had an excellent holiday weekend, assuming it was a holiday for you.
Happy Birthday, Mom!

Four previously unaired episodes of Threshold air tonight on the Sci-Fi Channel (Sci-Fi, 7pm ’til 11pm). So if you watched this show last season and were upset when it was pulled from the schedule, you can finally see the remaining episodes (assuming you didn’t already catch them on DVD).
Last Monday Wayne Brady guest starred on Everybody Hates Chris at this time, this week he guest stars as Barney’s brother (!) on How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 7pm). I really wish these two shows weren’t on opposite each other as they’re both excellent.
Julius lends Chris a pair of lucky socks on Everybody Hates Chris (CW, 7pm) and everything seems to go his way. Meanwhile, the other kids try to play their parents against each other.
It sounds like Lincoln and Michael might be taken back to Fox River in the fall finale of Prison Break (FOX, 7pm). Yikes! Will they have to break out all over again? I guess that’d be one way to keep the show going. This is being called the “fall finale” because the show goes on a break for a little bit and will return after the holidays.
Last week on Heroes (NBC, 8pm; airs again on Friday on Sci-Fi at 6pm), Hiro jumped back in time six months; this week’s episode is set in that time frame and is aptly titled “Six Months Ago”. We get to see what the characters were up to back then as some of them begin to notice these special abilities. DVR/VCR Alert: runs one minute long.
Can Charlie choose between his girlfriend and his housekeeper? I guess he does in the “Kissing Abraham Lincoln” episode of Two and a Half Men (CBS, 8pm - 8:31pm). He’s gotta choose Berta. DVR/VCR Alert: Runs 31 minutes.
House faces off against a 15-year-old thought to be a faith healer on a rerun of House (FOX, 8pm).
Dr. Foreman: “So, you believe God might exist but you don’t think about it? It’s the most important issue–”
Dr. Cameron: “I think penguins might as well speculate about nuclear physics. Why are we having this conversation?”
Dr. Foreman: “What? I’m curious.”
Dr. Cameron: “You cannot tell someone they’re your colleague, and not a friend, and then casually chat about the afterlife.”
from House
Christine and Barb (Wanda Sykes) disagree over how to run the gym on New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS, 8:31pm).
Everyone at Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBC, 9:01pm) seems to be coming down with a virus and that makes putting together another episode a struggle. Matt faces the week with a much smaller writing staff and I have a hard time imagining how this will make a difference given previously he was supposedly writing the whole show himself (which is ridiculous, of course). And Jordan shares a secret with Danny or something (honestly, the TV listings say too much about this with a big honking spoiler so the less you know the better).
A Marine recruiter is killed on CSI: Miami (CBS, 9pm) and that makes me wish that this was a new episode of NCIS instead of a new episode of this show. Can’t help it. Ethan Erickson is among the guest stars.
Late Night
