News & Notes
If you want to see the new CBS series 3 Lbs. a little early, it has been streaming on the CBS website since Thursday (though at this point if you haven’t watched it yet, I’m not sure why you’d bother as it debuts on CBS tomorrow). Previously unaired episodes of Smith are also now available on innertube on CBS.com.
What About Brian has been picked up for the rest of the season.
FOX has pulled Justice from the schedule and it’s unlikely to return. Reruns of House will air on Mondays at 8pm until 24 returns to take the timeslot in January.
Primetime
Marshall and Lily are back together and decide to waste no time by eloping to Atlantic City on How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 7pm). But, as this is a sitcom, things go awry. Hijinks may also ensue. This is one of my favorite current comedies.
The school newspaper is hard on the school presidency of a certain kid we like on Everybody Hates Chris (CW, 7pm). Chris ends up facing some sort of impeachment hearings cooked up by his classmates. Yikes!
Trying to give you some idea of what happens in each new episode of Prison Break (FOX, 7pm) doesn’t seem like a good idea. If you’re watching already, you just want to know that this is a new episode and don’t need me spoiling anything. If you aren’t watching right now, it’s really not a good time to jump in (or at least it’d be a terribly confusing time to jump in).
The next three episodes of Threshold (Sci-Fi, 7pm - 10pm).
Someone has been pretending to be someone else, but the truth may come out when they attend a party along with a bunch of other members of The Class (CBS, 7:30pm).
Suresh heads to India, but is haunted by dreams. Hiro and Ando head to New York City, Peter keeps trying to get his hands on that one painting, and lots more stuff happens on Heroes (NBC, 8pm; also airs on Sci-Fi on Friday and next Monday at 6pm). I’m totally hooked on this right along with millions of others. So far, so good.
Jake asks Charlie not to date the mother of a girl he likes on Two and a Half Men (CBS, 8pm - 8:31pm). Jane Lynch guest stars. DVR/VCR Alert: Runs 1 minute long.
A six-year-old boy is brought in with the same symptoms as a patient House treated unsuccessfully years ago on a rerun of House (FOX, 8pm). House appears a bit haunted by that old case ‘cuz he never figured out what was going on; he treats this boy while Wilson & Cuddy play poker. MacKenzie Astin is among the guest stars.
Wilson: “Obsession is dangerous.”
House: “Only if you’re on a wooden ship and your obsession is a whale. I think I’m in the clear.”
from House
Ritchie’s tuition goes up and his parents have to make some sacrifices on The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS, 8:31pm).
John Goodman continues to guest star on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBC, 9pm) in the conclusion of a two-part episode. Goodman plays a judge in a small Nevada town who isn’t too happy to be pulled away from his day off to deal with legal matters. Some folks seem to have hated part one, but I enjoyed it despite the contrivance because I liked seeing characters outside of the studio dealing with a crisis. Still, it does serve as a big shiny reminder that The West Wing and other shows have done better versions of this sort of story.
James Ellroy recounts how he channeled his mother’s still-unsolved murder his work on Murder By The Book (Court TV, 9pm and 1am). Beginning of a new limited run series with different mystery writers talking about their inspiration and experiences.
William Devane guest stars as Brian’s Dad on What About Brian (ABC, 9pm). I don’t think even William Devane can get me to tune in to this show any more. The gang attends a funeral for one of their own (albeit one of their own who only appeared in season one).
As they investigate one case, the team comes across a safe containing photos of a bunch of missing people on CSI: Miami (CBS, 9pm). Eva La Rue’s sister has a small part in the episode, but both sisters have an interesting tie to the real-life case that inspired this episode. Check out this article for the interesting details. Cirroc Lofton is among the guest stars (he was Jake Sisko on Deep Space Nine). Did you know that baseball player Kenny Lofton is Cirroc Lofton’s uncle? Somehow I did not know that (it seems like the sort of thing I’d know, you know?).
Late Night
Tina Fey on The Daily Show (Comedy, 10pm and midnight).
Rebroadcast of latest episode of Battlestar Galactica (Sci-Fi, 10pm).
Rebroadcast of latest episode of Dexter (Showtime, 10pm).
Dan Rather on The Colbert Report (Comedy, 10:30pm and 12:30am).
Robin Williams, Rich Little, George Jones on Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm). Rich Little is still alive and kicking? Good for him! (Who knew?)
Sharon Stone, Patricia Arquette, Vince Gill on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).
Hugh Laurie, Spike Feresten, OK Go on Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, 11:37pm).
Barbara Walters, Dax Shepard, Los Lobos on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:37pm).
