News & Notes
Men in Trees has been picked up for a full season! Hooray! Meanwhile, Six Degrees has been pulled from the ABC schedule ’til January. Men in Trees will move to the post-Grey’s Anatomy Thursday at 9pm timeslot (formerly occupied by Six Degrees) starting on November 30th. Very interesting development and, frankly, I think it’s a good one. Thursday nights on ABC are gonna be fun when the lineup is Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, and Men in Trees.
FOX has pulled Happy Hour from their schedule, for now reruns of ‘Til Death will fill that timeslot.
Jericho is going to have it’s own “fall season finale” at the end of November, then go on a break ’til February. King of Queens will take the timeslot while Jericho is on a break. This stuff is going to become more common as we see more serialized dramas– simply because there are usually only 22 episodes a season and some viewers get confused by reruns in the middle of an ongoing story. Expect the return of Jericho to be preceded by a “recap episode,” I expect we’ll be seeing the same thing with Lost when it returns in February.
Speaking of Lost, was anyone else hugely disappointed with the Lost season finale? I’ve never been one to complain about the slow pace of this show, but I think I’m ready to start. I expected more from this mini-arc at the beginning of the season.
Still no word on Crossing Jordan, I’m still getting emails about that. It’s return is still yet To Be Determined.
It looks like the email version of my Wednesday picks didn’t go out yesterday for some unknown reason. Argh! One downside of the current email system is that I can’t send announcements or emails manually. So if you normally get picks via email and you don’t see my picks in your email box by late morning or early afternoon, you should probably check the website to see if they’re up.

Primetime
Betty gets to stay in a posh hotel, Daniel continues to be intrigued by Salma Hayek on Ugly Betty (ABC, 7pm). Fun show.
Catalina is bored so she offers to help Earl cross something off his list on My Name Is Earl (NBC, 7pm). Earl apparently once used a mailbox as a garbage can, so they set off to make that right. Oh-oh. Jenny McCarthy guest stars.
The Green Arrow gets himself shot (oops), Oliver gets erratic, and Lana gets a clue (or at least makes a “shocking discovery”) on Smallville (CW, 7pm; airs again on Sunday at 6pm).
Castaways are given an opportunity to declare mutiny on Survivor: Cook Islands (CBS, 7pm).
NBA action on TNT.
Word gets out that they may close down the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin at The Office (NBC, 7:30pm) and the employees start imagining how that would change their lives.
Most of the men of Seattle Grace go on a camping trip together (the sort of trip that only seems to happen on TV shows) on Grey’s Anatomy (ABC, 8pm; airs again on Friday at 7pm). Mark “McSteamy” Sloan stays behind at the hospital and presumably causes trouble. Addison and Callie work together. Bailey gets suspicious of Cristina. And so on. There’s a character on The O.C. that leaves to take a job at Seattle Grace in Seattle. Really! I forget if that was mentioned in last night’s episode or the one that airs tonight (or both).
So I guess FOX is airing The O.C. (FOX, 8pm) twice this week, I hadn’t expect that they’d air two different new episodes in a single week. It’s Thanksgiving and the Cohens aren’t getting along so well after their trip to Mexico. Summer doesn’t appear to be looking forward to her visit home. Julie Cooper most certainly isn’t invited to a turkey meal at the Cohen’s. And well, it’s all a bit of a downer at first. And what of Volchek? Yes, he does turn up. As does Taylor. It’s another new episode of The O.C. that made me both laugh and cry. Dammit. Chris Pratt continues his guest stint on the show (he was “Bright” on Everwood).
Grissom receives another miniature crime scene and it’s for an ongoing investigation on CSI (CBS, 8pm). And Greg attends a hearing regarding his role in that one teenager’s death back in that episode where Greg got the crap beaten out of him. Guest stars include Amy Aquino, Lorraine Toussaint (of Any Day Now), and Vicellous Shannon (”Keith Palmer” on 24).
Linda Blair and Jason Gedrick guest star on Supernatural (CW, 8pm).
Rachael Ray’s Thanksgiving in 60 II (Food, 8pm and 11pm).
Stark hopes that a new case may exonerate one of his old clients on Shark (CBS, 9pm). I’m guessing he clashes a fair bit with the D.A. played by Jeri Ryan. Ned Vaughn (of Commander-In-Chief, China Beach) guest stars.
Forest Whitaker continues his stint on ER (NBC, 8:59pm). One couple hires a nanny. A patient appears to just have the flu, but things get worse and the patient tries to refuse getting any additional treatment. Or something. Drama. Angst. The usual.
Laurie Metcalf (of Roseanne) holds people hostage in a rerun of Sunday’s memorable new episode of Desperate Housewives (ABC, 9pm).
