News & Notes

Primetime

Baseball: New York Mets at St. Louis Cardinals (FOX, 7pm). Game 5 of the National League Championship Series. How novel for this season, a playoff series that is lasting more than four games.

Lily moves in with Barney (!!) and Marshall enjoys couple activities with another guy (!) on How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 7pm).

Chris realizes he needs to make the best speech of all-time if he’s to win the election for class president on Everybody Hates Chris (CW, 7pm).

Football: Chicago Bears at Arizona Cardinals (ESPN, 7:30pm). Not much of a match-up given the Bears are 5-0 and the Cardinals are 1-4.

I must admit, I’ve not seen this plot on a TV show before: Kat dares Ethan to sample every frozen yogurt flavor at a shop without buying anything on The Class (CBS, 7:30pm).

Suresh finally locates one of the people his Dad was investigating, and more of the “heroes” of this show meet on Heroes (NBC, 8pm; airs again on Friday at 6pm on Sci-Fi, and at 9pm on Sunday on NBC). Are you hooked on this yet? It started slow, but now is getting really interesting. It’s one of my favorites of the new season.

Ryan Stiles (of the Drew Carey Show) guest stars again as Judith’s boyfriend on Two and a Half Men (CBS, 8pm). Judith is back with this guy and things are serious, but he doesn’t get along so well with Jake. Alan and Charlie try to “fix” things because they’d love for Judith to marry again (persumably so Alan doesn’t have to pay alimony any more).

Christine’s friend Barb (Wanda Sykes) moves in on The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS, 8:30pm).

A reporter tries to get the dirt on Matt and Harriet, the cast rehearses the next show with host Lauren Graham (of Gilmore Girls) and musical guest Sting, Jordan rejects an idea for a reality show on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBC, 9pm). The reporter is played by Christine Lahti (of Chicago Hope, she’s also married to series co-creator Thomas Schlamme). I’m liking this show less and less; judging by the ratings, I’m not alone in this. Still watching out of affection for this cast.

Zooey Deschanel guest stars as one of Andy’s ex-girlfriends, Heylia pressures Nancy to “make things right” on a new episode of Weeds (Showtime, 9pm, 9:30pm, 11pm).

The wedding day finally arrives on What About Brian (ABC, 9pm). In flashbacks, we see how Brian and his best friend first met Majorie. Commercials made it look like some of the events of this episode would happen last week, but honestly– they finally do get to the wedding tonight. Will Brian race to the church? Of course he will (I know, I’ve seen TV before. I’ve also seen this episode already). Barry Watson (of 7th Heaven) and Sarah Lancaster (”Madison” from Everwood) star, with Rosanna Arquette and others.

A politician turns up dead on CSI: Miami (CBS, 9pm). Rob Estes continues his guest stint on the show as Eva La Rue’s ex.

Late Night

Talk show guests for tonight.

“Circle of Life (donuts) episode of Good Eats (Food, 10pm and 1am).

Rebroadcast of Friday’s new episode of Battlestar Galactica (Sci-Fi, 10pm).
