Primetime

Lincolm is determined to reunite with LJ (of course), and the rest of the gang is still on a treasure hunt of sorts on a new Prison Break (FOX, 7pm). Last new episode for a while as baseball starts up on FOX soon.

A “hurricane threatens the city” and two of the classmates end up in the hospital on The Class (CBS, 7pm). ‘Cuz nothing says “comedy gold” like hurricanes and hospitals!

Ted’s parents visit and a “stunning family secret” is revealed during brunch on How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 7:30pm). Oh-oh. Still really enjoying this show, I’m very happy it’s back this year.

Greg Grunberg (of Alias and Felicity) joins the cast of Heroes (NBC, 8pm) in tonight’s new episode. This episode will be rebroadcast on Friday, October 6th on the Sci-Fi channel. The show gets even more interesting in this episode; I think the second and third episodes are even better than the first one (and not just ‘cuz of Grunberg, though he rocks). Grunberg is a cop who has yet another kind of special ability. I don’t want to ruin anything about this episode, though, because there are some great things here as we follow the folks we met in the first episode and some new characters too. This episode is more gruesome than the first– I’m just warning you (this show would earn a PG-13 or R rating were it a movie). Science fiction fan Tadao Tomomatsu shows up as a police detective in a pivotal scene. So far, this is one of my favorite shows of the fall.

Paul heads to Chicago to meet someone who sent him a text message who might know something about his case on Runaway (CW, 8pm). And someone else gets drunk and reveals a bit too much about the family. Oh-oh. I like this show so far, about a family that is on the run from the law as the father tries to prove his innocence. Donnie Wahlberg (of Boomtown) and Leslie Hope (who was Jack’s wife on 24) star.

Charlie has a near-death experience and thinks he saw his father on Two and a Half Men (CBS, 8pm). Gosh, this sounds a bit heavy for this show, but I’m sure hilarity will somehow ensue as it so often does. It’s not “cool” to like this show, but I’ve got to admit it’s solidly funny (which is no surprise given it’s from Chuck Lorre who also brought the world Dharma & Greg– another funny, though not groundbreaking, comedy).

Judy meets up with an old friend (played by Eddie Cibrian of Invasion and Third Watch) on a new Vanished (FOX, 8pm). Last new episode for a while.

Season premiere of The Bachelor: Rome (ABC, 8pm - 10pm).

It turns out that the new man that Old Christine is dating (played by Scott Bakula of Enterprise and Quantum Leap) is New Christine’s father (yikes!) on The New Adventures of Old Christine (CBS, 8:30pm).

A network focus-group scares company executives into believing that the ratings success of Matt and Danny’s first show might have been a fluke on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (NBC, 9pm). FYI: at this point, I don’t see any rebroadcasts of this episode scheduled for Bravo or any other cable outlet. I’m still getting a kick out of this new show from Sorkin & Schlamme, though I think the less they show of any of the show within the show, the better (as I’m not so sure sketch comedy is something Sorkin and Schlamme are good at . . . certainly not as good as their fictional counterparts are supposed to be). Another of the best new shows; I’d say this and Heroes are the best NBC shows of the new season.

Nancy and Conrad sell some of their new product to Snoop Dogg (who makes an appearance) on a new episode of Weeds (Showtime, 9pm, 9:30pm, 11pm). And Heylia finally learns what Conrad’s up to.

A celebrity is murdered at a party, and there’s counterfeiting too on CSI: Miami (CBS, 9pm).
