News & Notes:

(As usual), I was the first to post cover art for the Homicide: Life on the Street DVD set, as well as details on extra features. You can see the art and read all about it (and pre-order the set) at my Homicide: Life on the Street Video/DVD FAQ page. Thanks in advance to everyone who pre-orders the set or orders any other DVDs via my links– your support of this site keeps it online.

I’ll be at the Twins home opener tonight at the Metrodome here in lovely Minneapolis, Minnesota with my parents and boyfriend. I’ll probably cry during the pre-game tribute to public address announcer Bob Casey, I can’t imagine Twins games without his voice. I’m so glad baseball season is underway. Go Twins!

I recommend that you regularly check out TV Tattle and TV Barn for a roundup of links to TV news and reviews.

Primetime:

CNN rebroadcasts coverage of the funeral of Pope John Paul II.

Basketball : Detroit Pistons at Orlando Magic (ESPN, 6pm).

More Marx Brothers fun: Duck Soup (TCM, 7pm); Horse Feathers (TCM, 8:15pm); Monkey Business (TCM, 9:30pm); and Animal Crackers (TCM, 11pm).

Joan of Arcadia (CBS, 7pm) ends up in the middle of some sort of school scandal when she tries to do a bit of “spring cleaning” of her own.

Bernie thinks it’s about time Jordan make the walk to school by himself in the new “Walk Like A Man” episode of The Bernie Mac Show (FOX, 7pm).

Viewer’s somewhere picked a “fan favorite” episode of Star Trek: Enterprise (UPN, 7pm) and that’s the episode that will be rerun tonight.

Golf: The Masters, Second Round (USA, 7pm).

Series premiere of Living With Fran (WB, 7:30pm). If you enjoy some of the Friday night sitcoms on FOX, ABC, or the WB; you may very well want to give this show a chance (after all, the only other half-hour network sitcoms airing at 7:30pm tonight are reruns). I’m not much for traditional sitcoms these days, but as these things go, this one is entertaining. Fran Drescher stars as “Fran” (go figure), a divorced mother who now has an interior design business. She’s got a 15-year-old daughter and a 26-year-old live-in boyfriend (who also works for her as a contractor). In the first episode, her son arrives home after dropping out of medical school, and he’s very surprised to learn about her boyfriend and other changes that have occurred in his absence.

John Larroquette stars in McBride: It’s Murder, Madam (Hallmark, 8pm).

“The sole survivor of an Iraqi bombing is charged with arson shortly after his return home” on JAG (CBS, 8pm).

Bosco really doesn’t like being partnered with Monroe (Nia Long) on Third Watch (NBC, 8pm).

Rerun of the most recent episode of 24 (FOX, 8pm).

Ryan Seacrest on Inside Dish With Rachael Ray (Food, 8pm and midnight).

Claude and Kipp each get to supervise a department on Less Than Perfect (ABC, 8:30pm) as part of their management training. And Lydia gets to fill in as Jeb’s “Secretary”. Oh-oh.

John Schneider (of The Dukes Of Hazzard, Smallville) and Marilu Henner (of Taxi, Evening Shade) guest star as the parents of Fran’s boyfriend on a new episode of Living With Fran (WB, 8:30pm). I liked this episode better than the pilot episode. Riley’s parents are surprised to see just how old Fran is. There are flashbacks within the episode that show how Fran and Riley met and ended up together. The performances make the material better than it actually is, there really isn’t anything all that new here. Though I like seeing an older woman with a younger guy.

NBA Basketball: Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves (ESPN, 8:30pm).

Jeff Perry (of Nash Bridges) guest stars as a guy who kills some coworkers at a bank, as well as a customer on Law & Order: Trial By Jury (NBC, 9pm). He seems to be mentally unstable, yet decides to defend himself in court. Carey Lowell (of Law & Order) shows up again as Jamie Ross, who is now a judge.

Rerun of the episode of Numb3rs (CBS, 9pm) where they try to figure out where bank robbers will strike next. Episode is titled “Uncertainty Principle”.

If you missed the new series Battlestar Galactica (Sci-Fi, 9pm and midnight) the first time around, reruns are starting up again. Tonight’s episode is a rerun of the season premiere. You’ll also want to catch the miniseries sometime if you haven’t yet (it’s available on DVD), though I know people who enjoyed watching the series without having seen the miniseries.

Tracy Morgan, Jeffrey Tambor, Bonnie Hunt, Jason Bateman, and Jon Favreau on Dinner For Five (IFC, 9pm and midnight).

Barbara Walters interviews Rosie O’Donnell, a look at a new one day Fat Flush detox diet, and a “woman who cheated death three times at the hands of her estranged husband” on 20/20 (ABC, 9pm).

My Crazy Life: Matthew McConaughey (E!, 9:30pm).

Late Night:

Ian McShane (of Deadwood), former Gov. Mario Cuomo, conservative Richard Perle, writer Arianna Huffington, and TV talk show host Joe Watkin on Real Time With Bill Maher (HBO, 10pm).

Rerun of the latest episode of The Shield (FX, 10pm).

Jimmy Fallon, Emily Van Camp, the Four Tops on a rerun of The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, airs later than usual ‘cuz of golf highlights).

Paul Newman, Sandra Oh (of Grey’s Anatomy), Breaking Benjamin on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Jimmy Fallon, Sarah Vowell on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Charlie O’Connell, Dizzee Rascal on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Sam Elliott, Amy Yasbeck, Bob Marley on a rerun of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS, airs later than usual, check your local listings).

Queen Latifah, Will Arnett (of Arrested Development), Greer Barnes, Trust Company on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Maggie can’t remember if she slept with Joel in the “It Happened In Juneau” episode of Northern Exposure (Hallmark, 1am).

Tomorrow / Saturday:

The wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles will likely be covered live on CNN, We, and elsewhere on Saturday morning. I think. Unless it gets postponed again or something.

ESPN Classic rebroadcasts some of the best games from the 2005 NCAA Basketball tournaments.

Highlights from The Royal Wedding: Charles and Camilla (BBC America, 5pm).
