Primetime:

TCM Star of the Day is Elizabeth Taylor: Ivanhoe (TCM, 7pm); Rhapsody (TCM, 9pm); Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (TCM, 11pm); The Comedians (TCM, 1am); and The Girl Who Had Everything (TCM, 3:45am).

The “Tick, Tick, Tick . . . Boom” episode of Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm) rocks. It also contains the biggest “oh my God!” moment of the series thus far, though the season finale that came a couple of episodes later managed to top it (or maybe the previews for that episode did, which is why I recommend you don’t watch the previews at the end of episodes). I recently revisited this past season of Gilmore Girls and I think it’s far better than many people give it credit for. Or maybe it just all works better when episodes are seen in short succession.

Baseball: Chicago Cubs at Milwaukee Brewers (WGN, 7pm).

The Ernie Kovacs Show (Trio, 7pm).

A behind the scenes look at King of the Jungle 2 (Animal Planet, 7pm and 10pm).

Things I Hate About You (Bravo, 8pm and 10pm) is a rerun of the first episode. Couples compete to prove which individual is more annoying.

It’s the “Last Night of Summer” on the season finale of Summerland (WB, 8pm; airs again on Monday). Yeah, I’m still watching. The show isn’t great or even especially good, but it’s okay summer fluff I guess. If you’re watching, you know that this episode will have characters contemplating change. Ava’s new boyfriend wants to get real serious, but she’s still got feelings for Johnny (and he for her). Susannah isn’t so sure about her fabulous new job. Bradin isn’t so sure about his new girl friend. Surf Shop Guy isn’t so sure about living with Surfer Girl. And the kids are still dealing with the loss of their parents. The show will be back with new episodes later this season.

I know some people who are addicted to Animal Cops: Detroit (Animal Planet, 8pm and 11pm, 9pm and midnight).

Someone breaks into Claude’s apartment on Less Than Perfect (ABC, 8:30pm).

Cameras are allowed inside a real jury room for a murder case on In The Jury Room (ABC, 9pm). Fascinating stuff.

The remaining teams travel from Cairo to Tanzania on The Amazing Race 5 (CBS, 9pm; also airs on Saturday).

Sean and Christian assist in the separation of conjoined twin on a new episode of Nip/Tuck (FX, 9pm, 11pm).

“Tropical Housewarming” and “Latin Birthday Lounge” are the two parties that need help getting started on Party Starters (Food Network, 9pm and 1am).

Queer Eye (Bravo, 9pm and midnight) is a rerun of the one with the Bravo twins.

Late Night:

Senator Norm Coleman (of Minnesota) on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

The brilliant “Space” episode of NewsRadio (Biography, 10pm and 2am).

Rerun of the excellent most recent episode of Rescue Me (FX, 10pm).

“Dead End” episode of Angel (TNT, 10pm).

No Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn this week.

Andy Dick, Bob Woodward on a rerun of The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

No The Tonight Show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, or Last Call with Carson Daly ‘cuz of Olympic coverage.

TCM Star of the Day is Elizabeth Taylor: Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (TCM, 11pm); The Comedians (TCM, 1am); and The Girl Who Had Everything (TCM, 3:45am).

Seth Green (of Buffy, et al), Merrin Dungey (of Alias, Summerland), Akon on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Rerun of the “Dumb Bunnies” episode of Karen Sisco (USA, 11pm).

Brett Butler, Rory Culkin, Alonzo Bodden on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn (CBS, check your local listings).

Rerun of the “Black Like Me” episode of Keen Eddie (Bravo, midnight).
