Info on Friday daytime TV can be found in the tomorrow section of these picks. Full picks for Friday will be online later today (assuming there are no computer or network problems).

Best Bets:

Jon Favreau, Andy Richter, Tom Everett Scott, Maura Tierney, and James Blake
  on Celebrity Poker Showdown (Bravo, 8pm – 10pm; 11pm – 1am)
Scrubs (NBC, 8:30pm)
Series premiere of The Graham Norton Effect (Comedy Central, 9pm and 11pm)
Michael Moore on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight)

Pledge Drive / Computer Fundraiser:

I think for about one week per quarter I’m gonna pester y’all to make some donations. I hope that’s okay (and I do realize that sometimes one just can’t afford to donate even a couple of dollars). The last time I really made a push for support of this site was when we celebrated the 5 year anniversary back in March, I guess I’ll call that the first quarter fundraiser. The end of June seems like a good time for the second quarter fundraiser, and not just because I really need the funds right now. It’s also my birthday on July 5th! :-)

Thanks so much to everyone who has donated thus far (including Stephen who made a donation on Wednesday). And to those who showed their support in the last few months.

News:

Josh Hopkins (of Cold Case, Ally McBeal) is joining the cast of North Shore.

You can now pre-order Season 4 of Angel which is due out on September 7th. Season 1 of American Dreams is also now available for pre-orders and will also be released on September 7th. [More TV on DVD]

Daytime:

History Channel has a Guts & Bolts marathon.

“The Harvest” and “Triangle” episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 6am, 7am). If you’re trying to watch the series from the beginning, be warned that “The Harvest” is part 2 of the 2-part series premiere, but “Triangle” is from much (much!) later in the series and probably isn’t an episode you’ll want to watch ’til you’ve seen a lot more of the show. FX sometimes only airs one episode in the afternoon showings, when that happens they seem to pick a random second episode to show in the morning airings.

Paige Davis (of Trading Spaces), Marlon Wayans, Teens in Training on Today (NBC, 7am – 10am).

A nine-year-old “pool shark,” medical report from Dr. Tim Johnson on Good Morning, America (ABC, 7am – 9am).

Adoption scams, Edna Buchanan on The Early Show (CBS, 7am – 9am).

Performance from Caroline or Change, Graham Norton, Chris Kattan on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Peter Lawford,Hugh Lambert, Johnny Carson on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In (Trio, 9am).

Bill O’Reilly, Stanley Tucci, Emily Kaufman (a.k.a. “The Travel Mom”), Lonestar on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Sci-Fi mini-marathon du jour: Star Trek (Sci-Fi, 10am – 3pm). Includes “The Trouble With Tribbles” (Sci-Fi, 1pm).

Frodo Alert! Elijah Wood (of Lord of the Rings), Terry Bradshaw on a rerun of The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Spike Alert! James Marsters (of Buffy and Angel), Ghost of the Robot (Marsters’ band), Lacey Chabert, Robert Gant on a rerun of The Sharon Osbourne Show (syndicated, check your local listings; WGN, midnight).

Kim Cattrall, Luis Guzman, Sandra Oh, Wayne That Tune on The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“A Family Divided, Part 4″ on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, and Julie Andrews (of Shrek 2) on a rerun of Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

Baseball: Oakland A’s at Anaheim Angels (ESPN2, 3pm).

“The Witch” and “Teacher’s Pet” episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 3pm, 4pm). I forget how cheesy some of the first season episodes are, but they’re saved by the likeable-ness of Xander, Willow, Giles, et al (yes, even Buffy, though she was my least favorite character on the show for a long time).

“The Trial” episode of Angel (TNT, 4pm).

Baseball: Atlanta Braves at Florida Marlins (TBS, 6pm).

“20 Hours in America, part 2″ episode of The West Wing (Bravo, 6pm and 10pm).

The New Detectives: Case Studies in Forensic Science: Missing (Discovery, 7pm). How forensic science is used to find missing persons.

“True Brew IV: Take Stock” (homemade stock) episode of Good Eats (Food Network, 6pm).

Hold Everything Unwrapped (Food Network, 6:30pm).

2004 NBA Draft (ESPN, 6:30pm; preshow at 6pm). Live!

Primetime:

Rerun of a season 1 episode of Without A Trace (CBS, 7pm). A television reporter disappears while she’s in the middle of investigating a nightclub owner who may be dealing drugs; she was also working on the case of a man on death row. Season 1 will be available on DVD on September 7th and is now available for pre-orders.

Baseball: Chicago Cubs at St. Louis Cardinals (WGN, 7pm).

Summer Scallops on Emeril Live (Food Network, 7pm and 11pm).

New episode of Whose Line Is It Anyway? (ABC, 7pm). Followed by a rerun at 7:30pm.

Yellowcard, the Hives, Christina Milian, Lloyd Banks, and Houston perform on Pepsi Smash (WB, 7pm).

Rerun of the second episode of North Shore (FOX, 7pm). Amanda Righetti (who plays Hailey on The O.C.) joins the cast. She plays someone who is down on her luck and then works to get hired by the hotel.

Ross is up for a big grant, but he’s got to get it from his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend. Aisha Tyler and Greg Kinnear guest star on Friends (NBC, 7pm – 7:32pm). Rachel and Monica fight over a painting. Chandler lies to Joey.

Another airing of Introducing Graham Norton (Comedy Central, 7:30pm).

Dan Lauria and Mimi Kennedy guest star on Come To Papa (NBC, 7:32pm). Steve Carell and John Salley are among Papa’s co-stars.

Tennis pro James Blake, Jon Favreau (of Dinner For Five), Andy Richter (of Late Night), Tom Everett Scott (of That Thing You Do! and other movies), and Maura Tierney (of NewsRadio, ER) on Celebrity Poker Showdown (Bravo, 8pm – 10pm; 11pm – 1am). Dave Foley hosts.

New episode of Stephen King’s Kingdom Hospital (ABC, 8pm). The limited run series returns with new episodes. Wayne Newton guest stars in this episode which is titled “The Passion Of Reverend Jimmy.”

I like the description of this episode of C.S.I. (CBS, 8pm) in the tv listings: “Illicit drugs and addiction are found while investigating a knifing.” Um, yeah. Nicholas “Krycek” Lea continues his guest stint on the show.

Tru faces her biggest challenge yet on Tru Calling (FOX, 8pm): she enters a beauty pageant.

Karen bumps into Candice Bergen on Will & Grace (NBC, 8pm). Tom Everett Scott also guest stars.

Former President Bill Clinton on Larry King Live (CNN, 8pm, 11pm, 2am).

We get to hear Turk’s inner monologue in the “His Story II” episode of Scrubs (NBC, 8:30pm). Another excellent episode. In this one: Turk makes a mistake during surgery and Elliot learns something about her relationship with J.D.

Series premiere of The Graham Norton Effect (Comedy Central, 9pm and 11pm).

The First 48 (A&E, 9pm and 1am). “When a couple is found shot to death, investigators track down two suspects and must convince one of them to give up the other.” That’s just one of the cases.

Kirstie Alley plays the mother of a young woman who goes missing Without A Trace (CBS, 9pm). It’s another fine episode of this fine show.

True Life: I’m Gay and I’m Getting Married (MTV, 9pm).

An interview with Wilson Phillips on Primetime Thursday (ABC, 9pm); plus “the brutal murder of an American exchange student in South Korea leads to an unlikely suspect and a stunning verdict.” Um. One of these stories is not like the other.

Late Night:

Michael Moore on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Patrice Oneal, Nick Di Paolo, Tony V, Fran Solomita on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

Kid inventors, Shawn Wayans, Secret Machines on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Will Ferrell, Graham Norton, Uncle Kracker on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Marlon Wayans, Nicole Richie, Heart on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Steve Garvey, Jadakiss on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Vince Vaughn, Jerry Bruckheimer, the Calling on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings). I think The Late Late Show would be a lot better if Vince Vaughn were the host instead of Craig Kilborn (anyone who saw The Late Show the night Vince Vaughn was guest host knows what I mean).

Jackie Chan, Christine Taylor, Angela McCluskey on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Tomorrow / Friday:

Wake up with some funny movies: What About Bob? (HBO, 6am and 3:30pm); Down With Love (HBO, 8am and 5:30pm).

“The Witch” and “Teacher’s Pet” episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 6am, 7am).

Will Ferrell, Alfred Molina, Jimmy Buffett performs live on the Plaza on Today (NBC, 7am – 10am).

Rubben Studdard, Emeril Lagasse, movie reviews from Joel Siegel on Good Morning, America (ABC, 7am – 9am).

Michael Moore on The Early Show (CBS, 7am – 9am).

A performance from Bombay Dreams, Todd English, Jimmy Kimmel, Sean Hayes on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Phyllis Diller, Roger Moore on Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In (Trio, 9am).

Kevin Klein and Ashley Judd, Alanis Morissette on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Sci-Fi mini-marathon du jour: The Twilight Zone (Sci-Fi, 10am – 3pm). Includes some true classics like “The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street” (Sci-Fi, 11am); “It’s A Good Life” (Sci-Fi, 1pm); “To Serve Man” (Sci-Fi, 1:30pm); and “Time Enough At Last” (Sci-Fi, 2pm).

Kirsten Dunst, Steven Weber, Live, Shelby Lynne on a rerun of The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Kathy Griffin, Brian Krause (of High School Reunion), Simone Denny on a rerun of The Sharon Osbourne Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Jeff Probst, Mike Epps, Heart on a rerun of The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Addictions” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Amazing Adventures” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

Baseball: Chicago Cubs at Chicago White Sox (WGN, 3pm).

“Never Kill a Boy on the First Date” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 3pm). Buffy has a pager! Pity she seems to have lost it almost immediately after this episode.

“Reunion” episode of Angel (TNT, 4pm).

“Chops” episode of Good Eats (Food Network, 6pm).

Stadium Snax Unwrapped (Food, 6:30pm).

In primetime on Friday expect mostly reruns, really. Maybe some new “news” shows. And a new episode of Monk which is probably the best thing on. I’ll find more stuff to talk about in my picks for Friday and Saturday.
