monday

Remember you can read about Tuesday daytime in the tomorrow section. Running late today, full picks for Tuesday should be online by 1pm (or 2pm at the latest).

Best Bets:

A Wrinkle In Time (ABC, 7pm – 10pm)
Season finale of Everwood (WB, 8pm; also airs on Sunday)
Touching Evil (USA, 9pm)
Senator John McCain on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight)
Winner of Survivor: All-Stars, Regis Philbin, Black Eyed Peas on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm)

News:

Is it just me or are there more interesting, complex, and believable teen characters on TV than ever before? Everwood alone would be remarkable, but we’ve also got the teens of Joan of Arcadia and Gilmore Girls to consider. And yes, even the teens on The O.C. seem more grounded in reality than you usually find on such a soap-ish show.

Reruns of Providence to air on Lifetime starting tomorrow.

TV DVDs due out next Tuesday include: Prime Suspect 6, Providence, Part 1 of Season 6 of Sex and the City, Season 2 of Smallville, Season 2 of Star Trek: Voyager, and Season 2 of The West Wing. You can also order sets that contain Season 1 & Season 2 of Smallville or Season 1 & Season 2 of The West Wing. (In some cases it’s cheaper to buy sets together than separately). [More TV on DVD]

TV DVDs due out tomorrow: Series finale of Friends, Season 1 of Have Gun Will Travel, Invader Zim Volume 1, Season 1 of Jonny Quest, Season 1 of Survivor, Season 1 of The Waltons, and Season 9 of The X-Files.

Also The rest of the X-Files sets are now available at lower prices than ever before (hooray!). [More TV on DVD]

Daytime:

Sci-Fi Channel Mini-Marathon: Now and Again (Sci-Fi, 10am – 3pm). Episodes 11-15. I should’ve been taping these marathons of this fabulous show. Eric Close (of Without A Trace), Dennis Haysbert (of 24), Margaret Colin, Heather Matarazzo, and Gerrit Graham star.

Christina Ricci, Josh Duhamel (of Las Vegas) on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Vanessa Marcil, Richard Roxburgh, James Marsden, Elefant on The Sharon Osbourne Show (syndicated, check your local listings; WGN, midnight).

Primetime:

NHL on ESPN, MLB on ESPN2, NBA on TNT.

Movie adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s Newberry Award-winning book A Wrinkle In Time (ABC, 7pm – 10pm). Alfre Woodard, Kate Nelligan, Alison Elliott, Kyle Secor (of Homicide), Chris Potter, Sarah-Jane Redmond, David Dorfman, Katie Stuart and Gregory Smith (of Everwood) star. Was originally going to be a theatrical release, then was to air on TV as a miniseries, now finally airs as a TV movie. An astrophysicist goes missing, so his children (and one of their neighbors) set out to find him; the quest takes them on a journey to another planet.

Series finale of The Parkers (UPN, 7pm).

Two more episodes of Johnny Staccato (Trio, 7pm and 10pm, 7:30pm and 10:30pm).

Matt (Barry Watson) and Simon (David Gallagher) return to 7th Heaven (WB, 7pm). Part 1 of the 2-part season finale. Part 2 airs next week.

Morris Day and Jerome Benton (of The Time) guest star on Eve (UPN, 7:30pm).

Season finale of Everwood (WB, 8pm; rerun at 5pm Sunday). I think Everwood is my favorite series of this season and the season finale is a perfect example of why (yes, I’ve had a chance to preview it; no, I’m not gonna tell you what happens). If you’ve been watching the show, you won’t want to miss this. If you haven’t been watching the show, this episode might give you a taste of why it’s so well-loved and well-reviewed (and make you want to catch any reruns you can over the summer). It’s a tough show to sell to people and I do think it sometimes takes a few episodes for it to grab you. The show isn’t easily summarized, they can’t put a “previously” at the front of the episode that will convey who these people are. It’s complicated and that’s why it’s such good TV.

A modeling agency convinces Robert to pose for headshots on Everybody Loves Raymond (CBS, 8pm).

A blackjack player has a bomb strapped to his chest on Las Vegas (NBC, 8pm). And Everlast guest stars.

Another installment of Band of Brothers (History Channel, 8pm and midnight). Airing Mondays at 8pm and midnight.

Memorabilia Unwrapped (Food Network, 8pm and midnight).

Charlie tries to cure Alan of sleepwalking on Two and a Half Men (CBS, 8:30pm).

New episode of Touching Evil (USA, 9pm). New episodes are now airing on Mondays.

A security guard is shot at a rap concert on C.S.I. Miami (CBS, 9pm).

Another airing of the most recent new episode of The Shield (FX, 9pm). New episode airs tomorrow.

Late Night:

“Mother’s Day” episode of Futurama (Cartoon Network, 10pm and 1am).

Senator John McCain on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

The winner of Survivor: All-Stars, Regis Philbin, Black Eyed Peas on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson (of American Idol), Wanda Sykes, Usher on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Adam Arkin guest stars in the “Mr. Monk Meets Dale the Whale” episode of Monk (USA, 11pm).

“Relationship Rescue Retreat” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

Tour Oprah’s house, a room makeover with designer Nate Berkus, and the first interview with Marcus Dixon since he’s been released on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Tough Love” and “Spiral” episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 3pm, 4pm).

“Home” episode of Angel (TNT, 4pm). Final episode of last season.

“Manchester, Part 2″ episode of The West Wing (Bravo, 6pm and 10pm).

In primetime on Tuesday you’ll probably want to watch The Dick Van Dyke Show Revisited (I’ve seen it, it’s fun if you’re a fan of the series). There’s also a special Dateline NBC about Frasier and TV Land airs some of Frasier’s best episodes of Cheers. Providence makes it’s debut on Lifetime. Plus new episodes of Gilmore Girls, American Idol, Navy NCIS, 8 Simple Rules, 24, According To Jim, Less Than Perfect, Showbiz Moms & Dads, One Tree Hill, The Shield, Law & Order: SVU, and Judging Amy. And more baseball, hockey, and basketball. Full details on all this and more in my picks for Tuesday, which should be online by 1pm or 2pm Tuesday.
