TV DVDs due out today: Freaks and Geeks: The Complete Series, season 2 of Charlie’s Angels, season 7 of Friends, and season 1 of In Living Color. [More TV on DVD]
The Freaks and Geeks set is fabulous; I’ve seen the first disc of it and the episodes look great (of course), but there are multiple commentary tracks and other cool extra features. The set has an incredible amount of very cool extras and the episodes are wonderful. And of course the die-hard fan will want the limited edition set.

TNT has a couple of NBA games.
2004 NCAA Women’s Final Four Special (ESPN, 6:30pm - 7:30pm). Followed by Women’s College Basketball: NCAA Tournament Final: Connecticut vs. Tennessee (ESPN, 7:30pm). Alas, my poor Gophers, they didn’t make it to the final game.
Baseball: New York Mets at Atlanta Braves (TBS, 6:30pm).
Norman Fell is among the guest stars on Johnny Staccato (Trio, 7pm and 10pm). A young man attacks Pete the trumpet player. I wrote more about this series in yesterday’s picks. I wish I got Trio. There’s also a rerun of yesterday’s episode with guest star Martin Landau (Trio, 9:30pm and 12:30am).
Rerun of the episode of Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm) where Lorelai and Rory never meet up face to face and keep missing each other on the phone. And they both experience some major angst. Rory is told she should drop a class and apparently she’s not doing so well at school, Lorelai has money troubles (finally!) involving the new inn. When they can’t turn to each other, they turn to Dean and Luke (of course). Really good episode.
The team searches for an ex-Navy SEAL who has escaped from prison and wants revenge on Navy NCIS (CBS, 7pm). Tim Abell, Al Sapienza,
Leon Russum, and Alicia Coppola are among the guest stars.
“The gang looks at vehicles built by Americans across the country” in the “Monster Nation 1″ installment of Monster Garage
Baseball: San Francisco Giants at Houston Astros (ESPN2, 7pm).
Whoopi is a victim of identity theft.
Paul finally gets invited to the gang’s big poker night on Bakersfield, P.D. (Trio, 7:30pm and 10:30pm). I wrote more about this series in yesterday’s picks. I wish I got Trio.
Shawn Christian (As The World Turns‘ first Mike Kasnoff) guest stars as a “hunky hairstylist” on Happy Family (NBC, 7:30pm).
Dave Foley and Wayne Knight guest star on I’m With Her (ABC, 7:30pm).
It’s 5am on 24 (FOX, 8pm) and things are not going well. Jack has a realization that may help.
Frasier (NBC, 8pm) has a crush on his matchmaker (Laura Linney), but she’s got a rugged boyfriend (Aaron Eckhart). Then Roz encourages him to visit a singles bar, where he meets someone (Jennifer Tilly). Wendy Malick also guest stars as Martin’s fiance. Is it just me or are they desperately trying to hook Frasier up with someone by the time the series ends? Ugh.
Rev. Jesse Jackson guest stars as himself on Tanner ‘88 (Sundance, 8pm).
The Social History of Piercing (MTV2, 8pm).
Nick defends a boy who was sexually abused and who may or may not be protecting his father on The Guardian (CBS, 8pm). Century City has been cancelled, that’s why this series is back early with a new episode.
George Wendt and Mary Gross guest star as grandparents who aren’t too keen on spending time with their new grandchild on Rock Me Baby (UPN, 8pm). Patrick Breen also guest stars.
Peggy begs Haley to fill in for a cheerleader who can’t cheer on One Tree Hill (WB, 8pm).
Nashville’s Purity Dairy, home of the Nutty Buddy, Vermont Teddy Bear Company and Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum, Oscar Mayer Weiners, 1999 National Monopoly Championship on two episodes of John Ratzenberger’s Made in America (Travel, 8pm and 11pm, 8:30pm and 11:30pm). These also air on the weekend.
Lots of good stuff on a new Scrubs (NBC, 8:30pm). Scott Foley returns. Bellamy Young also guest stars.
New episode of funny series Significant Others (Bravo, 8:30pm and 12:30am).
Andy Alert: Andy Richter guest stars on It’s All Relative (ABC, 8:30pm). I really really miss Andy Richter Controls The Universe. Less Than Perfect is still on a break, will return before the end of the season with their final new episodes of the season.
The Social History of the Tattoo (MTV2, 8:30pm).
Would you believe things get even more intense on tonight’s new episode of The Shield (FX, 9pm, 10pm). I haven’t seen the episode, but I’ve heard about the events that transpire. Those who’ve had to deal with sexual assault up close may find this episode hard to watch. Episode is titled “Mum.”
An A.D.A. is found strangled on Law & Order: SVU (NBC, 9pm; airs again on USA). Is it just me or are A.D.A.’s dropping like flies on Law & Order these days? An A.D.A. was murdered just last week on Law & Order. Marlo Thomas, Michael Beach (of Third Watch, ER), and Peter Riegert are among the guest stars.
Detective Hatcher (Scott Winters of Oz fame) engineers a transfer for Sipowicz out of the 15th precinct to the Bellevue Morgue. Sipowicz continues to investigate Hatcher. A dominatrix is found bludgeoned to death on NYPD Blue (ABC, 9pm).
The Fab 5 meet a man with a mullet and a handlebar moustache on a new Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Bravo, 9pm and 11pm).
Jon Polito and Lisa Edelstein guest star on a new Judging Amy (CBS, 9pm). Wherein the Danny Hawkins trial may be reopened. Adrian Pasdar and Cheech Marin are still around, too.
Twelve people begin espionage training on Spymaster (TLC, 9pm and midnight, reruns lots).
Airline toilet; biscuit bazooka; leaping lawyer on Mythbusters (Discovery, 9pm and midnight).
“Execution Tech” on Wild West Tech (History, 9pm and midnight).
Leela meets Zapp Brannigan on Futurama (Cartoon Network, 10pm and 1am). Phil Hartman was to have voiced Zapp (alas). Also the first appearances of Kif and Nibbler. Fourth ever episode.
Part 2 (of 3) of Ultraviolet (Sci-Fi, 10pm - midnight).
Matthew Perry on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).
Energy Boosts (power bars, trail mix, Gatorade) on Unwrapped (Food Network, 10pm).
Jimmy James hires an efficiency expert (Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls) on NewsRadio (Biography, 10pm and 2am).
“Head Games” (cabbage) episode of Good Eats (Food Network, 10:30pm).
Dan Naturman, Nick DiPaolo, Marina Franklin, Rich Vos on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).
Bruno Alert: Bruce Willis, wolf expert Renee Askins on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).
Cedric the Entertainer, Nia Vardalos, Nappy Roots on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).
Rerun of the “Justice” episode of Karen Sisco (USA, 11:30pm). Gary Cole guest stars.
Johnny Knoxville, Elisha Cuthbert (of 24), the Distillers on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).
David Spade, Brittany Daniel, Rich Vos, guest co-host Tracy Morgan on a rerun of Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).
