Same news as on Sunday, just in case you missed these items then (or don’t read the picks on weekends):
Bah. Wonderfalls has been canceled. Here’s the first message from executive producer Tim Minear, and another. Minear comments more in between those messages in discussions with fans; as I type this folks are still chatting, of course.
Some good news: Jennifer Garner says Alias will be back for a fourth season (and she should know, I would hope).

The Freaks and Geeks set is fabulous; I’ve seen the first disc of it and the episodes look great (of course), but there are multiple commentary tracks and other cool extra features. And of course the die-hard fan will want the limited edition set.

Kenneth Branagh narrates Cecil B. DeMille: American Epic (TCM, 7pm, 10:30pm). Part 1 of 2. Premiere of this new documentary about DeMille. I’m seen it and it’s fascinating (but then I didn’t know a whole lot about DeMille going in). Features clips and interviews (some old, some newer, I think). Tells the story of DeMille’s life, with a focus on his work (of course). Followed by some of DeMille’s films (of course: The Sign of the Cross (TCM, 8pm), Squaw Man (TCM, 11:30pm), The Cheat (TCM, 1am), The Squaw Man (TCM, 2am; is different than Squaw Man, from later in DeMille’s career), Madame Satan (TCM, 4am). Part 2 of the documentary and more DeMille films air on Wednesday, April 7th.
John Cassavetes stars as Johnny Staccato (Trio, 7pm and 10pm). Second ever episode of this series from 1959. Martin Landau guest stars. “A bandleader, making a comeback, learns that someone is trying to poison him.” 27 episodes of this series aired on NBC from September 1959 – March 1960. Filmed in black and white. Cassavetes plays jazz pianist Johnny Staccato, who also works as a private detective. Staccato works out of a small jazz club in Greenwich Village.
Bernie crashes a motorcycle and then sees what his household would be like without him on The Bernie Mac Show (FOX, 7pm).
Peter Jennings Reporting: Jesus and Paul: The Word and the Witness (ABC, 7pm – 10pm) which, according to the press release, “takes viewers back to a time and place when Christianity was but a tiny movement struggling for survival, telling the story of two men — Jesus and Paul – who had remarkable faith, iron will and a radical vision. Without them, Christianity as we know it today would not exist. Both sacrificed everything in the belief that God had chosen them to change the world. And they did.”
Rerun of the Everybody Loves Raymond (CBS, 7pm) where Ray catches Debra making fun of him in front of the kids.
Mikey picks the three episodes of American Chopper (TLC, 7pm and 10pm, 8pm and 11pm, 9pm and midnight) to air tonight.
John C. Reilly and Amy Sedaris guest star on Cracking Up (FOX, 7:30pm). Ben (Jason Schwartzman) learns that Ted (Chris McDonald) is still jealous of the guy who took Lesley (Molly Shannon) to the prom way back when. On a prom-centric episode.
Early episode from shortlived “brilliant, but cancelled” series Bakersfield, P.D. (Trio, 7:30pm and 10:30pm). Giancarlo Esposito is Paul, a black police officer from Washington, D.C. who transfers to an odd small town police force in Bakersfield, California. He’s the first black cop on the force there in this quirky cop show. Ron Eldard, Chris Mulkey, Tony Plana, Jack Hallett, and Brian Doyle-Murray also star. In this episode, the Sergeant is out of town and so the Captain makes Paul his right hand man when he has trouble making decisions.
Daphne Zuniga and Daphne Maxwell Reid guest star on a rerun of Eve (UPN, 7:30pm).
Rerun of the Two and a Half Men (CBS, 7:30pm) where all two and a half men are enamored with their housekeeper’s granddaughter.
At long last, Everwood (WB, 8pm, rerun on Sunday at 5pm) is back with a new episode. Expect plenty of fallout from previous episodes as Amy finally moves home. Ephram figures Madison will break up with him any time now. And Andy testifies on Nina’s behalf when her husband (Dylan Walsh) returns and wants custody of their son.
