Best Bets:

Baseball!
Season premiere of American Family (PBS, check your local listings)
Arrested Development (FOX, 8:30pm)
Crossing Jordan (NBC, 9pm)
Good reruns of Without A Trace (CBS, 8pm)
& Law & Order: Criminal Intent (NBC, 8pm)

News:

Don’t forget the time change (“spring ahead”) on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Bah. Wonderfalls has been canceled. Here’s the first message from executive producer Tim Minear, and another. Minear comments more in between those messages in discussions with fans; as I type this folks are still chatting, of course.

Some good news: Jennifer Garner says Alias will be back for a fourth season (and she should know, I would hope).

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine marathon begins on Monday (Spike, 11am – 8pm Monday and the rest of the week; starting April 12th episodes will air each weeknight at 6pm).

TV DVDs due out on Tuesday: Freaks and Geeks: The Complete Series, season 2 of Charlie’s Angels, season 7 of Friends, and season 1 of In Living Color. [More TV on DVD]

The Freaks and Geeks set is fabulous; I’ve seen the first disc of it and the episodes look great (of course), but there are multiple commentary tracks and other cool extra features. And of course the die-hard fan will want the limited edition set.

Daytime:

Green Acres marathon continues (TV Land, 5am Saturday – 5am Monday).

It looks like China Beach doesn’t air this Sunday morning at 5am like usual, but there will be an episode next Sunday.

Three Stooges marathon continues on AMC with Three Stooges movies (AMC, 5am – ).

Tiny Toon Adventures (Nick, 5am).

“Queen Bee” and “Home Again” episodes of Ally McBeal (FX, 6am, 7am). From Season 4 (a.k.a. the Season with Robert Downey Jr). With guest stars Christine Lahti, Taye Diggs, Jennifer Holliday, Anastacia, Regina Hall, Taye Diggs, Gail O’Grady, Alexandra Holden, and Jill Clayburgh.

Baseball season is upon us. ESPN Classic reminds us of some of what happened last year:
Baseball: 2003: NLDS, Game 4: San Francisco Giants at Florida Marlins (ESPN Classic, 6am)
Baseball: 2003: ALDS, Game 5: Boston Red Sox at Oakland A’s (ESPN Classic, 8am)

Baseball : 2003: NLCS, Game 6: Florida Marlins at Chicago Cubs (ESPN Classic, 2pm)
Baseball : 2003 ALCS, Game 7: Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees (ESPN Classic, 4pm)

Little Women (TCM, 7am).

Lotus Root on Iron Chef (Food Network, 6pm).

Red Sox and Cubs fans probably don’t need to watch The Babe and the Billy Goat: Reverse the Curse (ESPN Classic, 6pm).

“Scholars discuss the events leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus” on a rerun of Dateline NBC (NBC, 6pm).

Season premiere of American Family (PBS, check your local listings).

MLB Baseball: Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles (ESPN2, 7pm).

Matthew Modine and Kristin Davis star in The Winning Season (TNT, 7pm, 9pm, 11pm). Based on a book by Dan Gutman (judging by the descriptions at amazon.com, the story in the movie has a number of differences from the book). Story is about a kid who plays for a little league team in 1983; then he finds a Honus Wagner baseball card (yes, *that* card) and is transported back to 1909 where he hangs out with Wagner (Modine) and others. It’s kindof a sweet time travel & baseball story with some romance and family stuff thrown in. Family friendly. Ty Cobb is the villain of the piece.

Season finale of American Dreams (NBC, 7pm). Wyclef Jean guest stars as Curtis Mayfield, Alex Band and Aaron Kamin (of The Calling) guest star as college protest singers.

A murder case leads to the team from Cold Case (CBS, 7pm) looking into an old case from 1992 involving a young woman killed after leaving a political event on election night.

A boy is abducted in broad daylight in spanish harlem on a rerun of Without A Trace (CBS, 8pm).

George Sr. tries to bribe his accountant (while at Gob’s bachelor party), Michael takes George Michael on a fishing trip on a new Arrested Development (FOX, 8:30pm). Amy Poehler continues her guest stint on the show. Read Tim Goodman’s excellent article about the show.
