Best Bets:

C.S.I. (CBS, 8pm)
Without A Trace (CBS, 9pm)
The Chris Isaak Show (Showtime, 9pm)
The Daily Show (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight)
Drew Barrymore on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm)
Queen Latifah, Jason Bateman, Lyle Lovett on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm)

News:

Over at Teevee.org, Nathan Alderman bids a fond farewell to Ed. I agree with everything he says, except I maybe liked Warren Cheswick a little more than he did. I’d love to see the show return and be more about the rest of the cast (and less about Ed and Carol), but that probably won’t happen. Oh, well. Was fun while it lasted. If this really is the end, I’m gonna miss the folks of Stuckeyville a whole bunch.

Is Ed canceled or isn’t it? Alan Sepinwall looks into it, and while he’s at it, he mentions other ways the networks play fast and loose with the truth.

Playmakers has been canceled. Sigh.

More Super Bowl halftime show fallout. NBC ordered that tonight’s ER be edited, Grammy telecast will be tape-delayed, etc. etc. etc. This is ridiculous.

I love William Peterson, and not just ‘cuz he’s good on C.S.I. I like that’s he’s outspoken (as a producer and actor on C.S.I.) about how he thinks the spin-offs hurt the original. And here’s a good profile of Peterson.

TV on DVD.

Daytime:

Sci-Fi mini-marathon du jour: Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction? (Sci-Fi, 10am – 3pm).

Charlize Theron (Oscar-nominated for her work in Monster), Brooke Shields (who guest stars on both I’m With Her and That ’70s Show soon) on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Sharon spends a day on the set of Days Of Our Lives on The Sharon Osbourne Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Kelly Ripa (of Hope & Faith, Live With Regis & Kelly), Engelbert Humperdinck, Tuc Watkins, Marjorie Johnson on The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“A Family Divided: Marty and Erin’s Marriage” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Romantic Room Makeovers” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings). Decorator Nate Berkus spends half a million dollars on a room makeover. Wow!

“Entropy” and “Seeing Red” episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 3pm, 4pm).

“War Zone” episode of Angel (TNT, 4pm).

“California 47th” episode of The West Wing (Bravo, 6pm and 10pm).

Primetime:

Two NBA games on TNT.

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it yet this month, but Turner Classic Movies is airing nothing but Oscar nominated films this month. Just about any time of the day or night, you can find a movie with something to recommend it on TCM.

Joey appears on The 100,000 Pyramid (Donny Osmond guest stars as himself), Danny DeVito strips for Phoebe (at her bachelorette party), Chandler & Ross attend a college reunion on a new “super-sized” Friends (NBC, 7pm – 7:44pm). Note odd end time. Will & Grace isn’t on tonight, but there will be a new episode on Tuesday. Season 7 of Friends is available for pre-orders, it’s due out on April 6th. You can get seasons 1-6 together for a reasonable price or purchase any of the seasons separately.

New episode of Survivor: All-Stars (CBS, 7pm). I hope someone gets a fire going, otherwise they’re all gonna be quite the mess.

The title of tonight’s episode of Tru Calling (FOX, 7pm) is “The Longest Day” and it sounds like it may even pay homage to the film Groundhog Day (appropriately enough, given the time of year). Tru doesn’t just relive a day once, but multiple times, as she tries to save someone (or a number of someones). Eliza Dushku stars.

Some Like It Hot (TCM, 7pm).

“Film at Eleven” episode of Now and Again (Trio, 7pm and 10pm).

There’s an art heist, there’s also a woman found dead with a strange bite mark on her (and she’s missing a lot of blood . . . hmmmm) on C.S.I. (CBS, 8pm). Season 3 of C.S.I. is available for pre-orders, it’s due out on March 30th. Season 1 and Season 2 are still available, too. More extras on the season 2 & 3 sets, which is a good trend.

Kathie Lee Gifford on Larry King Live (CNN, 8pm, 11pm, 2am).

The team searches for a bounty hunter who used to be a cop on Without A Trace (CBS, 9pm). The catch? Jack Malone knew her when she was a cop. How cool is it that Anthony LaPaglia won a Golden Globe for his work on this series? Very very cool.

That’ll learn him. Chris disregards Mona’s advice and then she disappears on The Chris Isaak Show (Showtime, 9pm).

Carter’s girlfriend Kem (Thandie Newton) spends the night observing in the hospital, Dr. Pratt has yet another tough night, Dr. Gallant rides with the paramedics and gets tangled up in a domestic dispute, Dr. Weaver dedicates a building or wing or program or something to Dr. Romano on ER (NBC, 8:59pm). Note start time. Season 2 of ER is available for pre-orders, is due out on DVD on April 27th. Season 1 is still available, too. Both sets have cool extras and the show was sure better back then.

The first ever gay parents of quadruplets on Primetime Thursday (ABC, 9pm).

Late Night:

Noah Wyle (of ER) on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Cereal Unwrapped (Food Network, 10pm and 2am).

“Ham I Am” episode of Good Eats (Food Network, 10:30pm and 2:30am). Alton Brown rocks.

Jimmy Shubert, Keith Robinson, Bernadette Pauley, Greg Giraldo on Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

Drew Barrymore, Fountains of Wayne, a snowboard demo on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Queen Latifah, Jason Bateman, Lyle Lovett on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Megan Mullally, Harry Connick Jr. (both of Will & Grace) on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Missy Elliott, Joe Mantegna (of Joan of Arcadia), Buddy Guy, guest co-host Kathie Lee Gifford on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Rob Schneider, Petra Nemcova, Bob Guiney (of The Bachelor) on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

The Teutuls., Ying Yang Twins featuring Lil’ Jon on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Tomorrow:

Winter carnival live on the Plaza, a discussion of romantic travel weekends on Today (NBC, 7am – 10am).

Drew Barrymore, chef Todd English on Good Morning, America (ABC, 7am – 9am).

Grammy Awards preview, Survivor: All-Stars castoff on The Early Show (CBS, 7am – 9am).

A couple gets married on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Kurt Russell and Patricia Clarkson (promote the film Miracle) on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Sci-Fi mini marathon du jour: The Outer Limits (Sci-Fi, 10am – 3pm).

Diane Lane, Missy Elliot on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

George Stults and Jeremy London (of 7th Heaven), Nick Zano and Wesley Jonathan (of What I Like About You), Steve Howey (of Reba) on The Sharon Osbourne Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Stephanie Powers, Ingo Rademacher. Andrew Krasny (Trends Expert), Extreme Makeover, Marjorie Johnson on The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“The Buttinskys” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Behind the Scenes of Oprah’s Birthday Weekend” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Villains” and “Two To Go” episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 3pm, 4pm).

“Blind Date” episode of Angel (TNT, 4pm). From the first season.

In primetime tomorrow, there’s a new Joan of Arcadia and there’s also Ed & Carol’s wedding on Ed (which may or may not be the series finale, certainly is the season finale). More on that and other stuff in tomorrow’s picks.
