Part 1 of Star Wars: Clone Wars (Cartoon Network, 7pm – 7:03pm). It’s an animated “micro series.” Covers events that happen between Episode II and Episode III of the Star Wars films. I’m told the animation is very cool. Will be 20 3-minute installments airing on Cartoon Network.
“After God asks Joan to start helping those in need, she reaches out to a single mother looking for a babysitter. Meanwhile, Will navigates through a political quagmire when two officers assault an African-American man at a gas station” in the “Death Be Not Whatever” episode of Joan of Arcadia (CBS, 7pm). You know, the descriptions don’t do this show justice at all. So far it’s one of the best new shows of the season (granted, it’s a pretty wan season for new shows, but still).
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (TCM, 7pm).
I still like Like Family (WB, 7:30pm).
Regis Philbin plays Handsome Hal, the owner of a car dealership. And yes, he wants Kelly Ripa’s character to be in commercials for his dealership. On Hope & Faith (ABC, 8pm).
Near as I can tell, the best (only?) reason to watch Miss Match (NBC, 8pm) is if you’re fond of whoever is guest starring in a given week. Michele Lee and Adam Goldberg guest star tonight. Kate tries to separate her private life from her matchmaking gig (and if you’ve seen TV before, you can imagine how well that works).
Charlie Bixby (Dennis Miller) volunteers to work at a teen crisis hotline, Marla wants to have a baby (so of course she’s gonna ask one of her co-workers to be sperm donor; I know this, because yes, I’ve seen TV before) on Boston Public (FOX, 8pm).
Jag returns to JAG (CBS, 8pm). And they give him busywork. And he’s cranky. You know what I’ve mean, you’ve seen this before (unless you’ve never watched TV). Ossie Davis guest stars.
Parts 1 & 2 of “The Best Of Both Worlds” episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation (Spike, 8pm, 9pm). You know the one: it’s the one with the big cliffhanger involving the Borg. They borg-ify Picard and everything. Disappointing conclusion, but darn cool first part.
Bonnie gets food poisoning, but the show must go on (so they broadcast from the hospital?) on Life with Bonnie (ABC, 8:30pm).
Jeremiah (Showtime, 9pm).
Martha Stewart discusses “her life and legal woes” on 20/20 (ABC, 9pm).
VH1 Goes Inside : South Park (VH1, 9pm).
Another handler (Lou Diamond Phillips) is accused of murder on The Handler (CBS, 9pm).
Ann-Margret guest stars on Third Watch (NBC, 9pm). It’s no Boomtown.
The gang investigates the bombing of an office building on a rerun of C.S.I. (Spike TV, 10pm).
“Churn Baby Churn” (ice cream, sorbet, granita) episode of Good Eats (Food Network, 10:30pm).
Chris Isaak Show (Showtime, 10:30pm). Chris plays a benefit show for a parochial school’s music program.
Lauren Graham (of Gilmore Girls), CART auto racing champion Paul Tracey, Brian Regan on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).
Jennifer Garner (of Alias), Paul Bettany, Jason Mraz on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).
“A counterfeiter claims he went to high school with Karen” on Karen Sisco (USA, 11pm).
Darrell Hammond, Shannen Doherty, Joshua Bell on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).
Jason Bateman, Serena Williams, P.O.D., guest co-host Andy Dick on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).
Bachelor Bob Guiney, Hayden Christensen, the Shins on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn (CBS, check your local listings).
Norm Macdonald, Laura Prepon, Jordan Rubin, Bubba Sparxx, Hurry-Up Offense, Jeopardy champion Sean Ryan on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).
I know I haven’t done any picks for Saturday in a few weeks. Hope to have some Saturday picks online yet today. Really! Though it’s been a hectic day thus far so I make no promises. Best way to know when I update these picks is to get on the notify list.
