Primetime:

Expect coverage of the California recall election on most news networks especially later in the evening. Here’s hoping they don’t break into regular network programming much, if at all.

Baseball: Florida Marlins at Chicago Cubs (FOX, 7pm). National League Championship Series, Game 1.

Chris Eigeman guest stars on Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm). Emily gets a bit too involved in Rory’s life, Rory starts school at Yale (and begins learning about dorm life), Lorelai and Sookie throw a Lord of the Rings-themed party for kids, Richard gets a new business partner. Plus Madeleine and Louise show up! Episode is titled “The Hobbit, The Sofa, and Digger Stiles.” If you haven’t a clue what I’m on about, you aren’t watching this wonderful show and that’s a shame. Jump in, don’t worry if you haven’t seen other episodes– you’ll catch on soon enough.

“A Navy commander’s body washes ashore along with the bodies of two drug traffickers” on Navy NCIS (CBS, 7pm).

John Ritter’s last episode of 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter (ABC, 7pm).

Whoopi (NBC, 7pm) takes advantage of a blind man. Yuck. Okay, this would be one of the shows I definitely don’t recommend.

Schoolteacher Patrick’s ex-girlfriend makes movie star Alex feel intellectually inferior on I’m With Her (ABC, 7:30pm).

Nathan tries to get back at Lucas on One Tree Hill (WB, 8pm; no Sunday rerun this week). I haven’t watched the second episode yet, do think there’s potential in this series but the jury’s still out.

Wendie Malick as someone who once babysat Frasier and Niles on Frasier (NBC, 8pm).

Max Perlich guest stars on The Guardian (CBS, 8pm).

Corbin Bernsen hosts The Extraordinary (Sci-Fi, 8pm, 9pm). Investigate series into science and the paranormal. Two episodes.

Someone breaks into Claude’s apartment on Less Than Perfect (ABC, 8:30pm). And Patrick Warburton guest stars.

“Dwayne and Denny’s unspoken rivalry surfaces after they start their own backyard wrestling league” on The Mullets (UPN, 8:30pm).

The Fab 5 (of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) guest star on Good Morning, Miami (NBC, 8:30pm). I still won’t be watching.

“A psychiatrist specializing in sex offenders is found beaten in a crack house” on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC, 9pm; airs again on USA on Sunday, October 12th).

The team has a lot of work on their hands when the President of the United States makes a sudden stop in the U.K. on MI-5 (A&E, 9pm and 1am). And working with the C.I.A. is difficult, of course.

Daniel Benzali, Andreas Katsulas, and Vanessa Marcil guest star on NYPD Blue (ABC, 9pm).

“Amy and Maxine disagree on a child’s competency to serve as a witness in Amy’s courtroom; Kyle must treat a drunken driver who killed a hospital colleague” on Judging Amy (CBS, 9pm).

Surgery on someone with multiple personalities on Nip/Tuck (FX, 9pm, 10pm).

Rerun of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Bravo, 9pm and 11pm).

Late Night:

“Deep Down” episode of Angel (TNT, 10pm). First episode of last season.

Rerun of Coupling (Bravo, 10pm).

Live coverage of the California Recall with Arianna Huffington on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Presents: The California Recall Redecision (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight). Tivo season passes may not pick up the episode as part of a Daily Show season pass ‘cuz of the different name (and possibly different category as well).

See robot hell on a classic Futurama (Cartoon Network, 10:30pm).

Joe Rogan, Judy Gold, Jim Norton, Dave Mordal on a rerun of Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

Uma Thurman, Ricky Gervais, Renee Fleming on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Dennis Miller, 18-year-old politician Coby Combs, Damien Rice on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Aisha Tyler on The Orlando Jones Show (FX, 11pm and 12:30am).

Kevin Bacon, Quentin Tarantino, the Del McCoury Band on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Chris O’Donnell, Ben Stein, Mike O’Connell, guest co-host Bobcat Goldthwait on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Geoffrey Rush, Julian McMahon, Wilshire on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn (CBS, check your local listings).

Eva Mendes, Jimmie Johnson, Pete Yorn on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Tomorrow:

Salma Hayek, Tom Cavanagh (of Ed), Christine Schwab on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Michael Moore, Bob Guiney, Julie Andrews, Jason Mraz, guest co-host Kara Henderson on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Stone Cold Steve Austin, Rob Morrow, Brian Setzer on The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Kevin Bacon, Phyllis Diller on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated, check your local listings). More info.

Peter Facinelli, John Salley, Tami Anderson, Wilshire on The Sharon Osbourne Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Divided by Race” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

“What Should You Do?” (reacting to a crisis) on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).
