Baseball playoffs on ESPN this afternoon and on FOX tonight.
Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm)
One Tree Hill (WB, 8pm; rerun on Sunday at 4pm)
Less Than Perfect (ABC, 8:30pm)
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC, 9pm)
MI-5 (A&E, 9pm and 1am)
Tom Cavanagh (of Ed), Pyrotechnic Madman Ray Wold, Dido on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm)
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gov. Howard Dean, Lyle Lovett on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm)

News:

I updated the TV on DVD page last night, lots more TV on DVD sets are now available for pre-orders.

Due out on DVD today: The Tick and Season 2 of The Osbournes.

You can now pre-order Season 4 of Babylon 5 on DVD.

Don’t forget to check out the 2003-04 Fall Schedule Grid (with premiere dates) and the TV on DVD page.

Daytime:

Denzel Washington, Val Kilmer, Jack Black on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Whoopi Goldberg, Judy Reyes, guest co-host Patricia Lopez on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Randy Quaid, Jean Smart, Gavin Degraw on The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Danny Devito, Faith Ford, Maroon 5, and a card-stacking champion on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated, check your local listings). More info.

Mekhi Phifer, Tammy Faye, Stereophonics, and Sharon learns about a program to keep pregnant teens in school on The Sharon Osbourne Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“The Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge – The Final Cut” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Daniel Pearl’s Widow Mariane Tells Her Story” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings). Also David Bloom’s wife.

Special live edition of Baseball Tonight (ESPN, 11:30am) followed by Game 1 of an American League division series Baseball: Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees (ESPN, Noon).

Game 1 of National League Division Series. Baseball: Florida Marlins at San Francisco Giants (ESPN, 3pm).

“Crush” and “I Was Made To Love You” episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 3pm, 4pm).

Angel reruns are now airing weekdays on TNT (TNT, 4pm).

The West Wing (Bravo, 6pm and 10pm).

Rerun of the very first episode of Felicity (We, 6pm and 11pm). Airs weekdays. If you’ve not see all four seasons of the show, it’s one that’s worth your time overall, IMHO. I like it more for the ensemble than the supposed love triangle.

Gilmore Girls One Tree Hill (airs again on Sunday)
UPN

A&E
    MI-5 (also airs at midnight)
Bravo
Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Rerun) The Restaurant (also airs at 12:30am) Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Rerun, airs again at 11:30pm)

    Nip/Tuck (airs again at 10:30pm)
Primetime:

It’s “The Lorelais’ First Day at Yale” on Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm). Yup, the episode title echoes the second episode of the series which was “The Lorelais’ First Day at Chilton.” I can’t wait! Rory has one weird roommate and one familiar (and weird, I guess) roommate (that’d be Paris, of course).

Game 1 of another National League Division Series: Baseball: Chicago Cubs at Atlanta Braves (FOX, 7pm).

A Marine’s parachute fails to open on Navy NCIS (CBS, 7pm). I liked the first episode well enough. Mark Harmon is likeable (as always) and the rest of the team seems pretty cool (especially David McCallum).

Jim Belushi guest stars on I’m With Her (ABC, 8:30pm) as a “burly dance instructor.”

Lucas’ first big ball game doesn’t go so well on One Tree Hill (WB, 8pm; rerun on Sunday at 4pm in most markets). As I said in Sunday’s picks, I like Chad Michael Murray as Lucas and his friends and family on this show, don’t much care for the other brother and his buds (I suppose that’s how it should be). They aren’t even interesting as bad guys, though. Pilot was pretty uneven, but there’s potential here, so I’ll probably watch at least another episode or two and see how it goes.

Gina Torres guest stars on The Guardian (CBS, 8pm).

Claude gets Carl hired (so that’s why he’s in the opening credits now) on Less Than Perfect (ABC, 8:30pm).

Tiffani Thiessen joins the cast on the season premiere of Good Morning, Miami (NBC, 8:30pm).

Rory Culkin, Mare Winningham, and John Cullum guest star Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC, 9pm; airs again on USA on Sunday, October 5th). High school basketball players are gunned down in the school gym.

“MI-5 team members go through a practice germ-warfare exercise, but soon realize that they may be facing a real attack” on MI-5 (A&E, 9pm and 1am).

Daniel Benzali continues his guest stint on NYPD Blue (ABC, 9pm). A transvestite is murdered and a surgeon is knifed outside a hospital. Plus more of the trial.

Adrian Pasdar is on Judging Amy (CBS, 9pm) these days.

Nip/Tuck (FX, 9pm, 10:30pm).

Rerun of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Bravo, 9pm and 11pm). It’s the first episode, the one with Butch the artist.

Late Night:

Rerun of the pilot of Coupling (Bravo, 10pm).

Joe Scarborough on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Futurama (Cartoon Network, 10:30pm).

Keith Robinson, Ralphie May, John DiResta, Judy Gold on a rerun of Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn (Comedy Central, 10:30pm and 12:30am).

Tom Cavanagh (of Ed), Pyrotechnic Madman Ray Wold, Dido on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gov. Howard Dean, Lyle Lovett on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Eric Close on The Orlando Jones Show (FX, 11pm and 12:30am).

Alec Baldwin, Vanessa Marcil, Rancid on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Carla Gugino, Rascal Flatts, guest co-host Kermit the Frog on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Leah Remini, Ty Barnett on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn (CBS, check your local listings).

Wanda Sykes, Nada Surf, John Reznikoff on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Kids in the Hall (Comedy Central, 1am – 3am).

Tomorrow:

Steve Martin, George Lopez, Elizabeth Hurley on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Heather Graham, Lenny Clarke, guest co-host Samantha Harris on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

The Rock, Elmo, Harold Perrineau, Jr. on The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Kevin James, Dakota Fanning, a pet psychic on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (syndicated, check your local listings). More info.

Christina Applegate, Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, David Arquette, Sanaa Lathan, Flex Alexander, Eve 6 on The Sharon Osbourne Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Kid’s First” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).
