News:

Deaths in our TV family: John Ritter, Johnny Cash, and Larry Hovis. I lack the right words just now (or would spend too long trying to find them). I’m very sad I won’t be able to count on seeing John Ritter add to the already ridiculously impressive roster of TV shows he’s been on. Sadder still for his family and friends. Don’t know what the fate of Six Rules will be, six episodes for this season have been filmed. On tonight’s 20/20, a look back at Ritter’s career and experts will talk about the medical condition that resulted in Ritter’s death.

TV Land (and Nick at Night) mark the passing of John Ritter with some special programming on Sunday and Monday. Details still forthcoming (though you can find info via that link), I’ll have more details in my picks for Sunday and Monday.

Don’t forget to check out the 2003-04 Fall Schedule Grid (now with premiere dates!) and the TV on DVD page.

Daytime:

Tim Conway, Kristian Alfonso, Anthony Anderson, Josh Kelley on a new The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Dr. Phil’s Success Stories” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings). Season premiere is next Monday.

“That’s Incredible!” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Goodbye Iowa” and “This Year’s Girl” eipsodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 3pm, 4pm).

Primetime:

Early episodes of Law & Order: SVU (USA, 6pm and 9pm) were pretty bad, but the “Sophomore Jinx” episode that was directed by Clark Johnson was one of the few decent episodes.

One-hour season premiere of Reba (WB, 7pm). Reba is “reeling” and the rest of the family is “feeling guilty” so this sounds like quite the laugh riot, eh?

Katie Couric talks to Dr. Phil at a town meeting about “Weight Loss for America” on a two-hour Dateline NBC (NBC, 7pm - 9pm).

Bernie bribes the kids on The Bernie Mac Show (FOX, 7pm).

Back to back episodes of While You Were Out (TLC, 7pm, 8pm; 10pm, 11pm). Room or yard makeovers done in one day with $1500. Followed by a new What Not To Wear (TLC, 9pm and midnight).

Back to back to back episodes of Monster Garage (Discovery, 7pm and 10pm, 8pm and 11pm, 9pm and midnight).

New episode of Grounded For Live (WB, 8pm).

A look at reality TV outside of the U.S. on Reality of Reality (Bravo, 8pm and midnight).

Whitney Houston guest stars on a rerun of Boston Public (FOX, 8pm).

“Comedic genius” Anthony Anderson stars in the series premiere of All About the Andersons (WB, 8:30pm). He plays a single dad and struggling actor who moves back in with his Dad (played by the very cool John Amos).

DDA McNorris wakes up to find blood on his car and he doesn’t remember what happened on a cool rerun of Boomtown (NBC, 9pm).

On tonight’s 20/20 (ABC, 9pm), a look back at John Ritter’s career and experts will talk about the medical condition that resulted in Ritter’s death. Plus: interviews with Sharon & Jack Osbourne.

Late Night:

Rerun of C.S.I. (TNN, 10pm).

Dave makes a big announcement (he’s gonna be a Dad!), Cuba Gooding Jr., and Simon & Garfunkel on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Pamela Anderson, Jerry Springer, Steve Miller Band on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

The hilarious “Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico” episode of Monk (USA, 11pm).

Martin Mull & Fred Willard host the Kitschen: Welcome Back, Kotter (TV Land, 11pm); WKRP in Cincinatti TV Land, 11:30pm); Square Pegs (TV Land, midnight); Tabitha (TV Land, 12:30am).

Harrison Ford, Kelly Clarkson, John Pizzarelli on a rerun of Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Ali Landry, Jim Florentine, Guest co-host Adam Carolla on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Mary Hart, Wade Robson, Jack Johnson, Michael Rapaport on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

Conan O’Brien, Jessica Simpson, Danica Patrick, Mark Cuban, Hurry-Up Offense on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Tomorrow:

Will have picks for Saturday online later tonight or early tomorrow with any luck. After midnight and before Noon.
