Best Bets:

Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (UPN, 7pm)

News:

The brilliant HBO miniseries The Corner will be released on DVD on July 22nd. T K Carter, Khandi Alexander, and Sean Nelson star in this miniseries based on the non-fiction book The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood by David Simon and Edward Burns. The miniseries won an Emmy for outstanding miniseries. Charles S. Dutton was awarded an Emmy for outstanding direction for a miniseries, movie, or special. And David Mills and David Simon won Emmys for outstanding writing for a miniseries, movie, or special. The Corner was also received a Peabody award and a TV Critic’s association award. Yes, this miniseries was that good. Great to see it available on DVD. David Simon also wrote the book that Homicide: Life on the Street was based on, he served as a producer and writer on that show; Simon also created the HBO series The Wire. [More TV on DVD]

Primetime:

MLB Baseball: Colorado Rockies at Atlanta Braves (TBS, 6:30pm).

NBA playoffs on ESPN, NHL playoffs on ESPN2.

Lorelai and Sookie get an interesting opportunity, Jess’s father (Rob Estes) shows up, and more on a new Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm). The commercials for this show have been extremely misleading of late and often give too much away. The show’s still great, though. Only two more new episodes this season after this one.

New Buffy the Vampire Slayer (UPN, 7pm). The commercials make it look like the “everybody has sex episode,” but I’m sure there’s much more to it than that.

New episode of JAG (CBS, 7pm) titled “Lawyers, Guns, and Money.”

Jack’s day gets even worse, Kim is stupid on a new 24 (FOX, 8pm; reruns on FX). Not many episodes left.

The ghost of a childhood friend visits Lana, and she turns to Clark for help on Smallville (WB, 8pm; rerun on Sunday).

James takes on a paternity case involving a man with whom he once had a serious altercation on The Guardian (CBS, 8pm).

Martin questions his link with his sons when an out-of-town guest (David Ogden Stiers) arrives on Frasier (NBC, 8pm).

Interviews with creators and castmembers of ER on a “ER’s 200th Episode Special” edition of Dateline NBC (NBC, 9pm).

McDowell and Sipowicz investigate Frank Colahan’s parents on NYPD Blue (ABC, 9pm).

Amy must rule if a teenager should marry her much older boyfriend or be placed in the custody of her drug addict mother on Judging Amy (CBS, 9pm). Reed Diamond, Stephanie Zimbalist guest star.

Late Night:

Caroline Kennedy on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Stupid Human Tricks, Hugh Jackman (of X2), Kelly Clarkson on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Richard Belzer (of Homicide and Law & Order: SVU) on The Caroline Rhea Show (ABC Family, 11pm).

Mekhi Phifer (of ER), Alan Cumming (of X2), Bone Crusher on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Tomorrow:

Hugh Jackman (of X2), Paul Rudd on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Matt Dillon on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Courtney Thorne-Smith, Margaret Colin (of Now and Again) on The Caroline Rhea Show (syndicated, check your local listings). Dude, they missed an opportunity– Eric Close, who once co-starred with Colin on Now and Again, is scheduled to be on the show on Thursday, just a day after Margaret Colin.

David Boreanaz (of Angel and Buffy), John Edward, Big Bird, Kelly Hu, Billy Gilman on The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Worst Spouse In America” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

“More Husbands Who Became Women” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).
