Best Bets:

Everwood (WB, 8pm; rerun on Sunday)
Everybody Loves Raymond (CBS, 8pm)
Season finale of The Practice (ABC, 8pm-10pm)
Season finale of Crossing Jordan (NBC, 9pm)
Ben Browder on C.S.I. Miami (CBS, 9pm)

News:

Aaron Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme leave The West Wing.

The brilliant HBO miniseries The Corner will be released on DVD on July 22nd. T K Carter, Khandi Alexander, and Sean Nelson star in this miniseries based on the non-fiction book The Corner: A Year in the Life of an Inner-City Neighborhood by David Simon and Edward Burns. The miniseries won an Emmy for outstanding miniseries. Charles S. Dutton was awarded an Emmy for outstanding direction for a miniseries, movie, or special. And David Mills and David Simon won Emmys for outstanding writing for a miniseries, movie, or special. The Corner was also received a Peabody award and a TV Critic’s association award. Yes, this miniseries was that good. Great to see it available on DVD. David Simon also wrote the book that Homicide: Life on the Street was based on, he served as a producer and writer on that show; Simon also created the HBO series The Wire.

Primetime:

NHL playoffs on ESPN & ESPN2, NBA playoffs on TNT, some MLB on ESPN2.

A team rips apart a classic car to turn it into a car-crushing machine in the “Grim Ripper” episode of Monster Garage (Discovery, 7pm and 10pm).

Metropolis (TCM, 7pm).

Carrie learns Doug’s parents have been sheltering him by replacing his beloved dog with look-alikes on King of Queens (CBS, 7pm).

Hanson makes a proposition. Guber challenges a student (rap star GQ) who wants to use rap music to dis Shakespeare. Marilyn doesn’t trust a record producer (Method Man) who’s pushing to sign a student to a recording deal on Boston Public (FOX, 7pm).

Last week on 7th Heaven (WB, 7pm), the boyfriend of Peter’s Mom really creeped me (and poor little kid Peter) out. This week’s episode continues that story, plus others (of course). William R. Moses plays the creepy guy, Jeremy London is now part of the cast.

There’s a musical western dream sequence on The Parkers (UPN, 7pm).

Much discussion of abortion on a new Everwood (WB, 8pm; rerun on Sunday) when a teen girl learns she’s pregnant. And I’m betting (given there are only two more episodes after this one) that something will happen involving Colin. Plus Ephram et al go to a spring formal.

Ray and Debra disagree about who is supposed to put a certain suitcase away on Everybody Loves Raymond (CBS, 8pm).

Two-hour season finale of The Practice (ABC, 8pm-10pm). Is it the end of Bobby’s marriage? Will he leave the firm? And what about Eugene? (‘Cuz frankly, he’s the only character I care about anymore).

“Edible Fun” and “Canned Foods” on Unwrapped (Food Network; 8pm and 11pm, 8:30pm and 11:30pm).

Conclusion of the two-part season finale of Crossing Jordan (NBC, 9pm).

There’s a case involving a night club fire on C.S.I. Miami (CBS, 9pm). Ben Browder (of Farscape) guest stars. Episode may not air in some markets ‘cuz of “sensitive subject matter.”

Late Night:

Chris Matthews on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Rerun of last week’s episode of 24 (FX, 10pm).

A famous real-estate developer is found dead in an elevator on a rerun of C.S.I. (TNN, 10:05pm) from the second season.

Kelly Ripa, Good Charlotte, Survivor castoff Christy Smith on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Laurence Fishburne, Jamie Oliver, Uncle Kracker, Dobie Gray on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Matthew McConaughey, Karolina Kurkova, Hunter S. Thompson on a rerun of Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

David Boreanaz (of Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Ozomatli, guest co-host Patton Oswalt on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

Jerry O’Connell, Hugo Weaving (of Lord of the Rings and The Matrix), Switchfoot on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

Shannen Doherty, the Sklar Brothers, Stellastarr on a rerun of Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Tomorrow:

Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Mekhi Phifer (of ER) on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Ray Romano, Rob Morrow on The Caroline Rhea Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

John Ritter, Donal Logue, Andrew Krasny on The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“What’s Behind Our Choices” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

“The Husband Who Became a Woman” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).
