“Anne” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 5pm, 6pm). First episode of the third season of the show (I can safely say it’s not a good introduction to the series, as it’s one of the first episodes I ever saw and I was underwhelmed. ‘Course I lacked backstory).

NHL playoffs on ESPN2 and ESPN, NBA playoffs on TNT. It’s a big night for sports in Minnesota, the Wild play the Canucks in St. Paul (ESPN, 7pm); the Timberwolves play the Lakers in Minneapolis (TNT, 8:30pm), and the Twins have a game at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.

Tonight’s new episode of Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm) is titled “Keg! Max!” That may say it all, really. If you’re a fan, you’re already tuning in anyway. The commercials give too much away.

Any time the tv listings use the word “surprise” in them, they should know they’re saying too much. I’m not going to say much about tonight’s new episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (UPN, 7pm). If you’re a fan, it’s enough to know it’s new.

Investigators continue to build a case against Harm in part 2 of a 2-part JAG (CBS, 7pm).

Patrick Stewart is profiled on Biography (A&E, 7pm and 11pm).

MLB Baseball: Atlanta Braves at Houston Astros (TBS, 7pm).

I’m sure Jack’s day probably gets even worse on 24 (FOX, 8pm; reruns on FX). And Kim does something stupid (or maybe a whole bunch of things!). She may also shower.

Clark gets beat up so kryptonite must be involved somehow on Smallville (WB, 8pm; rerun on Sunday).

Lulu tries to make her relationship with Nick look official to prevent an office scandal on The Guardian (CBS, 8pm).

Dr. Phil guest stars on Frasier (NBC, 8pm).

Grandparents vow to gain custody of Connie’s sister’s baby on NYPD Blue (ABC, 9pm).

Bruce brings Rebecca to work with him, and she disappears; Amy does not make a good first impression while dining with Stu and his mother on Judging Amy (CBS, 9pm). Reed Diamond guest stars.
