Best Bets:

Series finale of Farscape (Sci-Fi, 7pm and 11pm)
Ed (NBC, 8pm)
John Doe (FOX, 8pm)
Law & Order: SVU (NBC, 9pm)

News:

If you missed all or part of the “Orpheus” episode of Angel that aired on Wednesday night, it will be rebroadcast on the WB on Sunday night at 8pm central time. Thanks to the WB for doing something sensible (given that the episode was interrupted or preempted ‘cuz of war coverage in many markets).

As I write this, the networks and news stations are covering bombings in Baghdad. I can’t predict if any shows will be preempted, interrupted, or delayed tonight during primetime. If you’re taping or Tivo-ing something today that airs on one of the networks, you’ll probably want to pad your recording and/or check what’s actually on TV from time to time.

NBC plans to air new shows in primetime, but their website says “Schedule Preemptions May Occur Due to Breaking News.” There’s a poll currently on the front of NBC’s site asking “Should NBC air war coverage 24/7?” (go vote).

CBS plans to air NCAA tournament games tonight in primetime; they may break in with news, it’s possible they’d switch the games over to ESPN if major news breaks.

ABC will air “continuing coverage of the war in Iraq” during primetime tonight.

Whether you see regularly programming from FOX, the WB, and UPN tonight is hard to say. I’m guessing it’s more likely than not you’ll see regular programming, though.

Daytime:

The NCAA tournament games scheduled to air this afternoon on CBS will air instead on ESPN (check this page for details). CBS soaps don’t air today or tomorrow ‘cuz of the ballgames (and now news coverage).

Daytime talk shows may or may not air depending on news coverage by your local affiliates and the networks.

Danny Aiello, Scott Foley, Leo Laporte, the Wiggles on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Whoopi Goldberg, designer Bradley Bayou on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

John Edward, Fionnula Flanagan on The Caroline Rhea Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Michael Caine, Lisa Rinna, Three Mo’ Tenors, Oscar the Grouch on The Wayne Brady Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Anger Management” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Inside Places We Never See” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

Gillian Anderson wrote and directed the “all things” episode of The X-Files (TNT, 4pm).

“Smashed” and “Wrecked” episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 5pm, 6pm).

Primetime:

NCAA tournament coverage on CBS (slight chance coverage would move to ESPN if CBS goes to all-news).

ABC will air news coverage in primetime.

Series finale of Farscape (Sci-Fi, 7pm and 11pm). Don’t expect resolution, this episode was originally meant to be a season finale cliffhanger, until the Sci-Fi channel cancelled Farscape.

“Van and Deaqon track a psychopath on a bizarre killing spree” on Fastlane (FOX, 7pm). (In Minneapolis FOX’s shows will air after high school basketball tournament coverage and the news; Fastlane will likely air at 11:30pm or midnight).

The best historical movies of the year are featured on The Harry Awards 2003 (History Channel, 7pm and 11pm).

Rebecca (TCM, 7pm).

Red Carpet Flashback: The 2002 Academy Awards (E!, 7pm).

Uncut and un-bugged/TNN-barred episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNN, 7pm-10pm).

Series premiere of Search for the Most Talented Kid in America (NBC, 7pm).

Back to back episodes of While You Were Out (TLC, 7pm, 8pm; 10pm, 11pm). Room or yard makeovers done in one day with $1500.

Chris Isaak guest stars on Ed (NBC, 8pm). Note new date and time and that this season will likely end with Carol going after Ed (at least I think that’s where they’re going with things). Only this episode and the next one to go. I really hope the show gets picked up for another season as it’s been good again.

“An ex-police officer takes hostages at a Seattle precinct” on John Doe (FOX, 8pm). James McDaniel guest stars. (In Minneapolis FOX’s shows will air after high school basketball tournament coverage and the news; Joe Doe will probably air around 12:30am or 1am).

The SG-1 team races to prevent Anubis from capturing a powerful necklace on Stargate SG-1 (Sci-Fi, 8pm and 10pm).

Hollywood at Home: Academy Award Winners’ Homes (HGTV, 8pm and 11pm).

The E! True Hollywood Story: Rosie O’Donnell (E!, 8pm-10pm).

Beauty in a Jar (A&E, 8pm-10pm). A special about the culture and marketing of beauty in America.

Behind the Movie: Chicago (VH1, 8pm).

New Grounded For Life (WB, 8:30pm).

An 8-year-old beauty queen’s body is found on a Manhattan bus on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC, 9pm).

Gigi (TCM, 9:30pm).

Late Night:

History vs. Hollywood : Gangs of New York (History Channel, 10pm).

Joel Grey guest stars on Law & Order: Criminal Intent (USA, 11pm).

Rick Schroder, B.D. Wong on The Caroline Rhea Show (ABC Family, 11pm).

“Mr. Monk and the Other Woman” episode of Monk (USA, midnight).

Andy Richter, Rich Hall on a rerun of The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, later than usual ‘cuz of basketball and/or news. May not air at all).

Nicole Kidman, Dame Edna, Shania Twain on a rerun of The Tonight Show (NBC, may air late).

Regis Philbin, Ja Rule, Kevin McDonald on a rerun of Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm, may air late or be preempted).

Larry Pipes, Freeway & Beanie Sigel, guest co-host Fred Durst on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings; probably will air late and will be a rerun instead of a new show with these guests as originally advertised).

Ashton Kutcher, Alison Eastwood, the Used on a rerun of The Late Late Show (CBS, will air late if at all; probably won’t air in most markets).

Stuart Scott, Kevin Brennan, 50 Cent on a rerun of Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, may air late or may not air at all).

Tomorrow:

I may take Saturday off, but if I feel up to it I’ll try to do picks for at least Saturday afternoon and primetime by Noon on Saturday. I make no promises, though. Will have complete picks for Sunday done by early Sunday morning.
