Best Bets | News | Daytime | Primetime | Late Night | Tomorrow

Best Bets:

Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show (USA, 7pm; rerun tomorrow at 11am)
Everwood (WB, 8pm; rerun Sunday)
Crossing Jordan (NBC, 9pm).
Matthew Broderick on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm)

News:

Season 2 of Due South will be released on DVD on April 29th in Canada. Season 1 is available now. Word is there aren’t really any extras and sadly the season 1 set doesn’t contain the pilot episode (it is available on videotape). Still it’s great that this fun series is being made available on DVD. No word on any U.S. release, but the Canadian release is Region 1 (a.k.a. it will run in any DVD player that plays DVDs sold in the United States). Visit the TV on DVD page for a list of more TV available on DVD.

I’ve liked Gina Torres since I first saw her in episodes of Hercules. She was the best thing about Cleopatra 2525 and she rocked in her role on Alias. I was pleased when I saw she was part of the cast of Firefly. So it doesn’t surprise me that she’s joining the cast of another show now– this time, it’s The Agency. And I also learned in that article that she married Laurence Fishburne in September, I’d somehow missed that. She’ll also be in the sequels to The Matrix..

Season 1 of Angel is due in stores tomorrow.

Daytime:

Brendan Fraser, Goo Goo Dolls on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Jeff Probst, Al Roker, guest co-host Camryn Manheim on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Kelsey Grammer, Lea Salonga on The Caroline Rhea Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Phil and Robin’s Favorite Valentine Gifts” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings). And they go the “favorite things” route (you know, like on Oprah) and give their audience the gifts they’re talking about.

“Incredible Weight Loss Stories” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

Brilliant “Jose Chung’s ‘From Outer Space’ ” episode of The X-Files (Sci-Fi, 3pm). I wonder what Darin Morgan is up to these days.

“Fear, Itself” and “Beer Bad” episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 5pm, 6pm).

Primetime:

It’s opening night of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show (USA, 7pm; rerun tomorrow at 11am). Competing tonight: dogs in the Working, Terrier, Toy, and Non-Sporting groups.

It’s “chocolate week” on Food Network, so chocolate recipes are featured on all the usual cooking shows.

“Solomon teams up with a tomb raider/scientist to recover a crystal skull once owned by Hitler” on Veritas: The Quest (ABC, 7pm).

“The teachers contend with Valentine’s Day; Kimberly is stalked by a student” on Boston Public (FOX, 7pm). I bailed when Nicky Katt left ‘cuz so far the latest batch of new teachers do nothing for me. Someone let me know if it gets good again, okay?

Kevin may actually really finally propose to Lucy on 7th Heaven (WB, 7pm).

“Doug ruins St. Valentine’s Day when he cancels a dinner with Carrie to transport penguins to Albany” on King of Queens (CBS, 7pm).

The Monday night lineup of sitcoms on UPN are all new Valentine’s day episodes.

Jane Krakowski returns as Dr. Trott and she and Andy may, um, “get involved somehow.” Harold and his wife go to couples therapy. And Ephram asks a girl out (probably Colin’s sister, I’m thinking). On Everwood (WB, 8pm; rerun at 5pm Sunday). One of those warm fuzzy shows set in a quirky small town that I now happily lump together with Ed and Gilmore Girls, though this one is a bit more quaint and low-key. And the townfolk of Everwood aren’t as kooky as the people in Stuckeyville and Stars Hollow.

“Debra convinces Ray to take his turn at disciplining the twins” on Everybody Loves Raymond (CBS, 8pm).

Rosanna Arquette guest stars on The Practice (ABC, 8pm). Reliable sources (other critics and some readers of this site) tell me that The Practice has been better lately than in a long while. Pity this happens right when it gets moved to a new night and time.

“Cast members deal with limitations and insecurities as the world premiere approaches” on Cirque du Soleil: The Fire Within (Bravo, 8pm and 11pm).

“Fudge” and “Chocolate Candy” episodes of Unwrapped (Food Network, 8pm and 11pm, 8:30pm and 11:30pm).

“Bosco and Cruz are trapped in a meth-lab inferno” on part 2 of a two-part Third Watch (NBC, 8pm).

Evan chooses one of the two remaining women on Joe Millionaire (FOX, 8pm).

“Jordan suspects a detective (Joe Maruzzo) played a role in the murder of a police witness; Garret and Winslow (Ivan Sergei) investigate a makeshift hospital being run out of a warehouse” on Crossing Jordan (NBC, 9pm). Ivan Sergei joins the cast.

“Paul takes a romantic interest in a scientist’s daughter while probing the link between paranormal abilities and disease” on Miracles (ABC, 9pm).

Team members are exposed to radiation while investigating a case on C.S.I. Miami (CBS, 9pm).

Late Night:

Rerun of the most recent (6pm-7pm) episode of 24 (FX, 10pm).

“The CSI team investigates a decapitated corpse; a murder takes place in a juvenile detention center” on a rerun of C.S.I. (TNN, 10:05pm) from the first season.

Pilot episode of NYPD Blue (Court TV, 10pm).

Futurama (Cartoon Network, 10pm).

Joe Klein on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Matthew Broderick, John Hammond on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Michael Clarke Duncan, Coldplay, “American Fido” competition on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

“Cole becomes involved with a suspect during an undercover gunrunning sting” on Robbery Homicide Division (USA, 11pm).

Matt Damon, Rita Wilson, Jurassic 5 on a rerun of Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Andy Dick, Tonic, guest co-host Adam Carolla on Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC, check your local listings).

John Ritter, Clipse, Faith Evans on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

Moby, Fat Joe on a rerun of Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Cowboy Bebop (Cartoon Network, 12:30am).

Tomorrow:

Matthew Broderick, Jennifer Garner on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Amy Brenneman, Mary Hart, Cindy Adams on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Rosie Perez on The Caroline Rhea Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Ask Dr. Phil” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings). From the website: “Does the wife of a man who makes over 100,000 dollars a year have the right to be upset about her $10 weekly allowance? What do you do when your hypochondriac mom is ruining your business? Should you tell on a married friend who is cheating? Plus, a woman who wants to know why she has a spanking fetish, and a 52-year-old who can’t get men to stop hitting on her!”

“Challenge Your Spouse” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).
