Best Bets | News | Daytime | Primetime | Late Night | Tomorrow

Best Bets:

Friends (NBC, 7pm)
Scrubs (NBC, 7:30pm)
C.S.I. (CBS, 8pm)
Without A Trace (CBS, 9pm)
Or ER (NBC, 9pm) if you don’t mind gimmicks
Alison Janney, Martin Scorsese on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm)
Patrick Stewart, Paget Brewster, Brian Setzer on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm)

News:

CBS has put Robbery Homicide Division on hiatus. It’s not likely to return. And they announced plans to air Presidio Med twice a week.

The first season of Futurama will be released on DVD on March 25th. I’ll have a link to amazon.com as soon as the set is available for pre-order. Will mention it here and on the TV on DVD page.

More TV DVD news: The first season of C.S.I. is due out on DVD on March 25th.. The first season of Family Guy will be released on DVD on April 15th. Rumor has it the first season of Smallville will be released on DVD in March. Will post more information when I have it and links when they’re available for pre-ordering.

Thanks again to those of you who’ve made donations (or, better yet, signed up to make monthly donations). And to those of you who are doing your shopping via links on this site. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Daytime:

Patrick Stewart, Kelly Osbourne on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Nia Vardalos on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Patrick Stewart, Anne Hathaway on The Caroline Rhea Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“How Are They Now?” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings). Featuring updates on Donna Rice, Paula Jones, Baby M, Baby Jessica.

“Be A Man” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

“A woman can give people good luck merely by touching them” on Mysterious Ways (PAX, 3pm).

Proof that crossovers don’t only happen in fanfic: Detective Munch (of Homicide, Law & Order: SVU) arrests Agent Mulder and the Lone Gunmen (of The X-Files) in the cool “Unusual Suspects” episode of The X-Files (TNT, 5pm).

“Seeing Red” and “Dead Man’s Party” episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 5pm, 6pm). Apparently “Seeing Red” is the last episode of last season that FX has the rights to show just yet. Certainly does leave you on a bit of a cliffhanger if you haven’t seen the end of last season. Though presumably the reasons FX doesn’t have the rights is ‘cuz UPN may want to show those last episodes of last season again sometime this year. “Dead Man’s Party” is the second episode of the third season, the one after “Anne” and it was skipped earlier in this run on FX.

Listen Up! Charles Barkley With Ernie Johnson (TNT, 6pm).

Part 1 (of 2) of the pilot episode of JAG (USA, 6pm). You could watch the series from the very beginning. Remember that it aired on a different network during the first season and that Mac wasn’t in it then, either.

Part 8 (of 10) of Taken (Sci-Fi, 6pm-8pm).

Primetime:

“Chandler must spend Christmas in Tulsa working on a deadline with a beautiful co-worker (Selma Blair)” on Friends (NBC, 7pm).

TNN has parts 1 & 2 of “The Best of Both Worlds” episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNN, 7pm, 8pm). I think they may be hosted by Patrick Stewart his own badself, too. (He’s the guy that got Borgified in that episode. Oh wait, you know that).

Survivor: Thailand (CBS, 7pm).

“Karl devises a plan to leave Dinotopia that could endanger the continent” on Dinotopia (ABC, 7pm).

Dr. Cox tries to “ease Jordan’s discomfort” (yoiks) on Scrubs (NBC, 7:30pm).

“The team investigates a fatal paragliding accident” on C.S.I. (CBS, 8pm).

” Grace has only two tickets to The Nutcracker and cannot decide whether to take Will or Leo” on Will & Grace (NBC, 8pm). Now that Grace is married, couldn’t variations on this be the plot of every episode?

Part 9 (of 10) of Taken (Sci-Fi, 8pm, 10pm, midnight). If you want to catch this whole miniseries later, there will be marathons on Sci-Fi (including one this weekend), plus there are already plans for a DVD set sometime next year.

” A man and his daughter disappear during their morning routine” on Without A Trace (CBS, 9pm).

Tonight’s “special” new episode of ER (NBC, 9pm) is told in reverse. Starts at the end of events, works it’s way back to the beginning. And it doesn’t look good for Luka. (I’ve stopped watching ER, but the commercials have me worried about what they’re doing to Luka this season).

Late Night:

Anna Paquin on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Alison Janney, Martin Scorsese on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Bill Maher, an “animal impressionist,” and the Wallflowers on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

William Shatner, Kelli Williams, Brooke Burke on The Caroline Rhea Show (ABC Family, 11pm).

Patrick Stewart, Paget Brewster, Brian Setzer on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Rob Schneider, model Veronica Varekova, Counting Crows on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

Andy Richter, Busta Rhymes on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Tomorrow:

Elijah Wood, Carly Simon, Roger Ebert on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Jennifer Lopez, Henry Thomas, Bryant Renfroe (Ms. Walters hairstylist) on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Allison Janney, Carly Simon on The Caroline Rhea Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Creating Happiness” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Big Fat Wedding Surprises” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings). Rerun. With some of the cast of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, plus other wedding stuff (including some surprises, obviously).
