Best Bets | News | Daytime | Primetime | Late Night | Tomorrow

Best Bets:

Ed (NBC, 7pm)
The West Wing (NBC, 8pm)
South Park (Comedy Central, 9pm)
Law & Order (NBC, 9pm)
J. Lo on Primetime Special Edition (ABC, 9pm)
Regis on Late Night with Conan (NBC, 11:35pm)

News:

John Doe has been picked up for the rest of the season.

Fastlane has been picked up for a full season. No word yet from FOX on pickups for Firefly or Cedric The Entertainer Presents.

Daytime:

“Sexy Too Soon” on Dr. Phil (syndicated, check your local listings). Young girls and teens dressing provocatively.

“Viewers’ Favorite Rooms” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

Joan Collins, the surviving members of TLC on The View (A&E, 5pm).

“Restless” was the season four finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 5pm). The weird dream sequence one. Followed by “Buffy vs. Dracula” which was the first episode of the fifth season (FX, 6pm). Fun for people who remember Gellar’s days on All My Children with Rudolf Martin (who plays Dracula).

“A woman refers Felicity to a clinic for the incurably romantic” on Felicity (We, 6pm, 11:30pm; 11am tomorrow).

Primetime:

Kelly Ripa guest stars (again) on Ed (NBC, 7pm). Tonight’s episode is titled “The Wedding” and NBC’s commercials have shown Ed riding off to stop the wedding (of course, anyone who watches TV knows that ad could be misleading . . . that could be a dream/fantasy sequence for all we know). The season thus far has been uneven, I’ve really liked some episodes or storylines and others have been duds. Could we get this wedding over with already? I’m really not watching the show for the love triangle. (The last couple of episodes suffered from the lack of Daryl Chill Mitchell’s character. More of him, please!)

One of the kids brings home a snake as a pet on The Bernie Mac Show (FOX, 7pm). One of the funniest family sitcoms on the air.

“Reed and Archer return to a planet to retrieve a communicator” and then things get a tad . . . complicated. On Enterprise (UPN, 7pm).

Dean Kamen (of Segway and “IT” fame) unveils another invention on 60 Minutes II (CBS, 7pm).

How cool is it to see Joshua Malina on The West Wing (NBC, 8pm)? Even if it’s distracting having his character interact with Rob Lowe as Sam, since Sam has so much in common with Jeremy (the character Malina played on Sports Night). They’ve even shared some of the same storylines and lines! Ahem. Anyway. More election night stuff on the show tonight.

How to make p?t? ? choux in the “Choux Shine” episode of Good Eats (Food Network, 8pm and 11pm).

I wish I liked Birds of Prey (WB, 8pm) more than I do. Fun to see former CBS soap hunks Shemar Moore and Shawn Christian play second fiddle(s) to the women of this show, though. I don’t think they know if this show is meant to be serious or merely fun fluff, I think that’s part of why it doesn’t work for me. If they went one way or the other, it could be cool.

“Van and Deaqon open a hip nightclub to lure in a ring of drug dealers” on Fastlane (FOX, 8pm). Fun fluff.

Greg Germann, Jaime Pressly, and Scott Bairstow all guest star on The Twilight Zone (UPN, 8pm).

They’re in Morocco on Amazing Race (CBS, 8pm).

Every time I see tv listings for Charles in Charge (Nick, 8pm-10pm), I get the show’s theme song stuck in my head.

“The boys go on a mystical quest. A quest to return The Lord of the Rings to the video store.” On a new episode of South Park (Comedy Central, 9pm).

Briscoe and Green are pretty sure someone hired a hitman on Law & Order (NBC, 9pm).

Diane Sawyer interviews Jennifer Lopez (and J.Lo fesses up about her engagement to Ben Affleck). Listings say that Barbara Walters interviews Whitney Houston on this special, too (but the ABC site makes no mention of that). All or some of this on Primetime Special Edition (ABC, 9pm).

Christine Baranski plays a “tough surgeon” on Presidio Med (CBS, 9pm).

Late Night:

Kiefer Sutherland on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Barbara Walters, Joey Pantoliano, Mark Knopfler on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Adam Sandler, Rupert Grint, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Regis Philbin, Ja Rule, Greg Giraldo on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Kermit the Frog, Sarah Silverman, comic Wayne Federman on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, the Wallflowers on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Did you know that Twin Peaks is now airing on weekday mornings at 4am on Bravo? Just F.Y.I.

Tomorrow Morning:

Dennis Quaid, Ashanti, Chris Meloni on Live with Regis and Kelly (syndicated, check your local listings).

Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Arnold on The View (ABC, check your local listings).

Joan Collins, O-Town on The Caroline Rhea Show (syndicated, check your local listings).
