News:

Picks for tomorrow will be online later tonight (around midnight, if not sooner). There’ll be one version of the picks that covers the 9/11 anniversary coverage, and a completely separate version that will feature alternatives to the coverage.

Happy Birthday Clark Johnson! Mr. Johnson is best known for playing Meldrick Lewis on Homicide: Life on the Street. He’s also an accomplished director, who has directed episodes of Homicide, NYPD Blue, Law & Order: SVU, The West Wing, The Shield, and The Wire (among other things). He also directed the acclaimed HBO movie Boycott.

Farscape has been cancelled. If you care about the show and want to try and keep it on the air for a fifth season, you need to act now. Seriously. Don’t put off making a phone call or sending a letter, as if you wait it will be too late to do any good. Follow the link for contact information (there’s also info here. Act now.

I’ve updated the 2002-03 Fall Schedule Grid to include season and series premiere dates as well as links to websites or webpages for all the new series (so you can read up on ‘em). Check it out, spread the word if you find the page useful. There’s also an Eastern timezone version of my Fall TV Grid.

Best Bets:

Good Buffy reruns (UPN, 7pm, 8pm).
Good Gilmore Girls rerun (WB, 7pm).
Alec Baldwin, Marianne Faithfull on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Daytime:

Tony Shalhoub, Neil Patrick Harris, some gadget guy on The Caroline Rhea Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

All-Time Best Dr. Phil Moments on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

Primetime:

Baseball: New York Mets at Atlanta Braves (TBS, 6:30pm).

Lorelai graduates from business college on Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm).

Two of the final episodes from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (UPN, 7pm, 8pm). Um. Could I word this any worse? It’s two episodes from last season, the two that led up to the finale (but not the actual finale). “Villains” and “Two To Go.” It’s intense stuff.

“An explosion of kryptonite gives Lana the ability to see through a kidnapper’s eyes” on Smallville (WB, 8pm).

Martin Sheen plays a soul hunter in Babylon 5: River of Souls (Sci-Fi, 8pm-10pm).

Vincent (Dan Futterman) returns for a visit on Judging Amy (CBS, 9pm). That’s reason to watch.

Late Night:

Zach Braff (of Scrubs) on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Alec Baldwin, Marianne Faithfull on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Dr. Phil McGraw, George Foreman, Robert Plant on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Rerun of last week’s first live episode of The Caroline Rhea Show (ABC Family, 11pm). With guests Matthew Perry, Julie Bowen (of Ed), and David Cassidy. Plus a trip to the Mall of America.

Jimmy Fallon, Blindside on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Someone’s getting married (or are they?) on Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, midnight). And Melissa Leo gets to have a bit of fun with a dual role.

Eve, Aimee Mann on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

Eve, Tom Green on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).

Tomorrow:

I’ll have a special edition of the picks online shortly after midnight this evening (if not sooner). There’ll be one version of the picks that covers the 9/11 coverage and a separate version that covers alternatives to That Sort Of Thing.

Enjoy these picks? Tell me why (or just say “hi”) and/or make a donation (if you haven’t done such things already or in a while). I’m not paid to put together these picks, right now I’m unemployed, so every little bit of money (or encouragement) helps. Thanks!
