Best Bets | Daytime | Primetime | Late Night

Best Bets:

Mel Gibson on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings)
New episodes of Stargate SG-1 (Sci-Fi, 8pm and 10pm) and Farscape (Sci-Fi, 9pm and 11pm)
New episode of Monk (USA, 9pm and 11pm)

Daytime:

Marathon of The Real World: Honolulu (MTV).

John Stamos, Sheryl Crow, Kate Burton on a rerun of The Rosie O’Donnell Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

Mel Gibson and Highlights from Other Celebrity Visits on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

Another Thin Man (TCM, 4pm).

“Helpless” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 6pm). In which Buffy has a very bad 18th birthday.

Primetime:

Baseball: St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves (TBS, 6:30pm).

Anthony Michael Hall is all grown up and stars in The Dead Zone (Sci-Fi, 7pm).

New episode of Stargate SG-1 (Sci-Fi, 8pm and 10pm).

Isn’t it nice having The X-Files (FOX, 8pm) back on Friday nights? Pity the episodes aren’t better.

Debut of a new episode of Monk (USA, 9pm and 11pm). This one’s titled “Mr. Monk Goes to the Carnival.” Tony Shalhoub stars in this quirky detective series created by Andy Breckman. It’s a good show and it’s a new episode, can’t beat that.

New episode of Farscape (Sci-Fi, 9pm and 11pm).

“Three people, connected only through Detective Benson, are found murdered” on Law & Order: SVU (NBC, 9pm).

Rerun of Alias (ABC Family, 9pm).

“The detectives investigate the murder of a prominent doctor at his son’s bar mitzvah” on Law & Order: Criminal Intent (USA, 10pm).

Late Night:

Biff’s Summer Tour, Mitch Hedberg, Bruce Springsteen on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Matt LeBlanc, The Mad Chef, Counting Crows on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Citizen Kane (TCM, 10:45pm).

Alan Cumming, Kelly Hu, Belle & Sebastian on a rerun of Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Another great episode of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, midnight).

Randy Newman on Musicians (Bravo, midnight).

Sophia Loren on Charlie Rose (PBS, check your local listings).

Carla Gugino, Tim Blake Nelson, Goo Goo Dolls on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

Enjoy these picks? Tell me why (or just say “hi”) and/or make a donation (if you haven’t done such things already or in a while). I’m not paid to put together these picks,
right now I’m unemployed altogether, so every little bit of money (or encouragement) helps. Thanks!
