Josh & Reva’s wedding on Guiding Light (CBS, check your local listings)
Chris Isaak Show marathon (VH1, 5pm-9pm).
Very first episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 6pm)
Sarah Michelle Gellar on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm)
Paul Westerberg on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm)
Wow! I’m still amazed at how many actors Guiding Light (CBS, check your local listings) brought back to play key characters that we haven’t seen on the show in ages! That’s a very good sign for the show. The history is the strength of this soap, above all overs, a serial that’s been on the air (first on radio, then TV) for 65 years. The reception for Josh and Reva’s wedding continues today, expect to see still more of Vanessa, Trish, Mindy, Dylan, Rusty, et al. Yesterday Olivia schemed to knock out the lights, I’m told something pretty magical is supposed to happen today.\
Lee proposes to Amanda on Scarecrow and Mrs. King (PAX, 3pm).
Elvis Costello on Musicians (Bravo, 3pm).
Star Jones, Lisa Loeb, Al Franken on The Rosie O’Donnell Show (syndicated, check your local listings).
“Dr. Phil’s Weight Loss Advice, Part 1″ on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).
The Chris Isaak Show marathon: Chris agrees to watch Minnie Driver’s dog (VH1, 5pm), Chris worries when his stalker disappears (VH1, 6pm), Chris plays a benefit for a Catholic school’s music program (VH1, 7pm), and Chris invites his girlfriend to go on tour with him (VH1, 8pm).
Buffy makes a sacrifice in “The Gift” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 5pm). And then we skip a season (the one that just ended on UPN) and we’re back to the very beginning, when Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 6pm) first met Giles, Willow, Xander, and Cordelia in “Welcome to the Hellmouth.” It’s a great show, if you haven’t yet checked it out, you could do worse things this summer than to watch the reruns on FX. Usually one or two episodes each weekday.
Candice Bergan hosts another one of those AFI specials chock full of clips and soundbites from celebrities: AFI’s 100 Years … 100 Passions (CBS, 7pm-10pm). AFI’s picks for top 100 love stories in American movies of the last 100 years.
Atlanta Braves at Minnesota Twins (TBS, 7pm). Twins won last night in 15 innings, was the first time these teams had met since the 1991 World Series (apart from games during spring training). I’ll be at tonight’s game. Game is blocked out in the Twin Cities and other areas where the Twins would air on Fox Sports Network or other local stations.
Richard (Edward Hermann) visits Lorelai and Rory in Stars Hollow and drives them all a bit crazy on Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm).
Did a demon ride in with Buffy The Vampire Slayer (UPN, 7pm) when she was resurrected? Could be.
“Declan nearly hits with his truck a man who claims to be from 1934″ on Mysterious Ways (PAX, 7pm).
Spy TV (NBC, 7pm, 7:30pm).
Rerun of the episodes where Michael J. Fox returns to visit Spin City (ABC, 7pm).
The long version of Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America (AMC, 7pm).
Season premiere of American Idol: The Search for a Superstar (FOX, 7:30pm-9pm). Wherein wannabe-celebrities audition before a panel of celebrity judges. Viewers vote on who’ll be finalists.
I forgot to mention when The Mole II (ABC, 8pm) started airing, but it’s on ABC again this summer.
Clark works with a hermit to save the family farm on Smallville (WB, 8pm).
Two good sitcoms actually do air on UPN: Girlfriends (UPN, 8pm) and The Hughleys (UPN, 8:30pm).
Scrubs (NBC, 8:30pm).
Part 2 of the “kids” episode of 100 Centre Street (A&E, 9pm) which opened the second season of this series.
This installment of Boston 24/7 (ABC, 9pm) focuses on a district attorney trying to win a case.
Val Kilmer on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).
Sarah Michelle Gellar, John McEnroe on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).
Nicolas Cage, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson, Paul Westerberg on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).
Alicia Silverstone, Hannah Storm, New Found Glory on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).
Lisa Rinna, Freddy Rodriguez, Graham Parker on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).
Tim Stack, Peter Stormare, Tom Fitton on Politically Incorrect (ABC, check your local listings).
I hated the “Homicide.com” episode of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, midnight), but the events of it are important to both the series finale and the reunion movie.
Tom Tolbert, The Hives on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).
