Best Bets | Daytime | Primetime | Late Night

Best Bets:

That ’70s Show (FOX, 7pm)
Premiere of Andy Richter Controls The Universe (FOX, 7:30pm)
24 (FOX, 8pm)
The Shield (FX, rerun of last week’s episode at 8pm, new episode at 9pm)
Jon Stewart on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm)
Allison Janney, Scott Patterson on The Late Late Show (CBS, 11:35pm)

Daytime:

No Buffy reruns today on FX, ‘cuz they’re airing movies and such things instead.

Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn, James Stewart in The Philadelphia Story (TCM, 5pm). One of my favorite movies of all time.

Primetime:

The gang reminisce about when they first met each other on That ’70s Show (FOX, 7pm; delayed ’til 10pm or so in Mpls ‘cuz of basketball).

Visions force Declan to track down a childhood friend who has leukemia on Mysterious Ways (PAX, 7pm).

Gilmore Girls (WB, 7pm) is a rerun of the one where Rory accidently ends up in the popular clique.

“Tabula Rasa” is, IMHO, one of the better episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 7pm) from this season. It’s the one where Willow casts a spell to make Buffy forget where she was and things (naturally) go awry. Somehow it’s a very funny episode, even though the consequences aren’t funny at all.

“Snap out of it!” Yeah, it’s Moonstruck (TCM, 7pm). One of the better romantic comedies of the last twenty years or so.

Series premiere of Andy Richter Controls the Universe (FOX, 7:30pm). I hope it’s funny, ‘cuz I really like Andy. Conan O’Brien sez it’s funny (and swears he’s not just saying that), so that’s a good recommendation. [This is delayed in the Minneapolis area 'cuz of a basketball game, should air around 10:30pm].

New episode of 24 (FOX, 8pm; delayed in Mpls ‘cuz of a basketball game, should air around 11pm; also airs later this week on FX).

Rerun of last week’s series premiere of The Shield (FX, 8pm), followed by a new episode of the series (FX, 9pm). Tune in and see what all the fuss is about.

Hey, it’s just like “This Side of Paradise” . . . a mysterious flower infects Smallville (WB, 8pm) citizens and removes their inhibitions.

ABC has new episodes of all their usual Tuesday night shows (including NYPD Blue (ABC, 8pm) and Philly (ABC, 9pm)).

Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert in It Happened One Night (AMC, 9:30pm). Great great movie.

CBS has nothing but reruns.

NBC has nothing but reruns save for a new episode of Watching Ellie (NBC, 7:30pm) and I suppose Dateline (NBC, 9pm).

Late Night:

Sen. John McCain on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Jon Stewart on The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Ben Stiller, Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper, Lifehouse on a rerun of The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Benjamin Bratt, Jamie Pressly, Lewis Black on a funny rerun of Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Allison Janney (of The West Wing), Scott Patterson (of Gilmore Girls), Art Alexakis on The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

Detective Frank Pembleton (Andre Braugher) has a stroke in the fourth season finale of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, midnight).

Lisa Edelstein, Jennifer O’Neil, Harland Williams, Dennis Prager on Politically Incorrect (ABC, check your local listings).

Gwyneth Paltrow on a rerun of Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).
