I didn’t update at all yesterday. Bad me. Sorry about that.

Best Bets | Daytime | Primetime | Late Night

Best Bets:

I kinda like the new series Leap of Faith (NBC, 7:30pm)
Dave Foley on Just Shoot Me (NBC, 8:30pm)
Cool Futurama rerun (FOX, 8:30pm)
Roger Ebert, Tom Arnold on Late Night with Conan (NBC, 11:35pm)
Merrill Markoe and Eric Idle on Politically Incorrect (ABC, check your local listings)

Daytime:

Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper (TNN, 10am, 10:30am); Diff’rent Strokes (TNN, 11am, 11:30am); and Three’s Company (TNN, Noon, 12:30pm) all now air on TNN.

You can’t beat “The Daves I Know” as far as catchy tunes go from Kids in the Hall (Comedy Central, 1pm).

I love As The World Turns (CBS, check your local listings).

You know, Guiding Light (CBS, check your local listings) is improving. I’m still miffed that they’ve let go the actor who plays Sam (and shipped that character away), but apart from that it really seems like they’re making some changes for the better on the show.

John Lithgow, Cheryl Ladd, Sarah Paulson (of Leap of Faith, Jack & Jill) on The Rosie O’Donnell Show (syndicated, check your local listings).

“How does your family handle money?” on Oprah (syndicated, check your local listings).

“Sleeping in Light” is the final episode of Babylon 5 (Sci-Fi, 4pm, letterboxed).

“Would you like some tranya?” That’s what Clint Howard asks in the classic “Corbomite Maneuver” episode of Star Trek (Sci-Fi, 5pm).

If you can’t (or don’t want to) stay up late to watch Last Call with Carson Daly (E!, 5pm; NBC late night), you can catch reruns the next day on E!.

Drusilla (Juliet Landau) returns to Sunnydale for a visit in the “Crush” episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (FX, 5pm). Followed by an episode titled “I Was Made to Love You,” which seems like kindof a lark until the very end (FX, 6pm).

Primetime:

“Peter makes Chris pretend he’s dying, in order to save a television program” on a rerun of Family Guy (FOX, 7pm; followed by another rerun at 7:30pm).

Rachel tries to “break the ice” between her and Joey on Friends (NBC, 7pm).

New episode of Survivor (CBS, 7pm).

Faith runs into her ex-fiance and he’s with another woman on Leap of Faith (NBC, 7:30pm). The first episode reminded me a lot of Jack & Jill, but I didn’t like it as much. Though I really like Sarah Paulson (the star of the show) and I always like Lisa Edelstein and the rest of the cast seems fine. It’s nice that it’s not a sitcom, it’s a half-hour drama with jokes. Or, um, something. Beats the usual junk that’s in the post-Friends timeslot.

The C.S.I. (CBS, 8pm) team investigates the murder of four monks.

Will & Grace (NBC, 8pm) move into a new apartment.

Horatio Hornblower: The Fire Ships (A&E, 8pm-10pm; midnight-2am).

Dave Foley (of Kids in the Hall, NewsRadio) guest stars on Just Shoot Me! (NBC, 8:30pm). Which means I have to watch Just Shoot Me because I (heart) Dave Foley that much. I do, I really do.

The crew discovers an “irresistible source of food on another planet” in the Popplers episode of Futurama (FOX, 8:30pm). I think Futurama is one of the funniest shows on TV.

Dr. Weaver orders the staff to attend a sexual harassment seminar; hijinks ensue. Okay, maybe there aren’t any hijinks (but we can dream, right?). I bet there’s some angst somewhere in the show, too. ‘Cuz it wouldn’t be a new episode of ER (NBC, 9pm) without it.

Howard Hawks directed Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, and Rita Hayworth in Only Angels Have Wings (TCM, 9:30pm). It’s a fine movie about a pilot and a “sassy chorus girl.” Some think the TV series Tales of the Gold Monkey owes a lot fo this movie. The film was nominated in 1940 for Oscars for best black and white cinematography and for best special effects.

Late Night:

Tom Arnold on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart (Comedy Central, 10pm and midnight).

Another excellent first season episode of The Job (ABC, 10:30pm). Denis Leary stars in this show about cops. This is “The Bathroom” episode.

Bruce Willis, Ivan Neville on funny rerun of The Late Show with David Letterman (CBS, 10:35pm).

Rene Russo, Dell computer guy Ben Curtis, Natalie Imbruglia on The Tonight Show (NBC, 10:35pm).

Roger Ebert, Doris Wishman, Tom Arnold on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (NBC, 11:35pm).

Mandy Moore, actor Sean Maguire, musical guest Will Hoge on a rerun of The Late Late Show (CBS, check your local listings).

If when you think Bruce Campbell, you think comedy– you’ve got good reason. But he proved he was a fine serious dramatic actor when he guest starred in a two-part episode of Homicide: Life on the Street (Court TV, midnight).

Merrill Markoe, conservative activist Jason Jones, Eric Idle, Shawnee Smith on Politically Incorrect (ABC, check your local listings).

Train, photographer Mark Seliger on Last Call with Carson Daly (NBC, check your local listings).
